Four months of horror releases down, eight to go! With our 2024 Horror Preview, we’re looking ahead at some of the other horror movies we can’t wait to check out this year. For now, we’re only including movies that have a known release date, so films like the remakes/reboots of The Toxic Avenger and Witchboard are currently absent because they don’t have a release date yet, even though they’re likely to show up at some point in 2024. Here we go:

At the start of 2023, filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan secured a multi-year deal with Warner Bros., and soon after that deal was made, we heard that his first movie for Warner Bros. would be Trap, a “psychological thriller set at a concert”. That project made its way through production toward the end of last year, with lead roles going to Josh Hartnett, fresh off his appearance in Oppenheimer (pictured below), and Shyamalan’s daughter Saleka. Now the film’s August 9th theatrical release date is swiftly approaching, so today (a couple weeks after we saw the trailer), a poster for the movie has arrived online, along with an original song Saleka recorded for the movie, where she plays a pop star called Lady Raven. The poster can be seen at the bottom of this article, and you can listen to the Lady Raven song “Release” at LadyRavenMusic.com.

Updated, 12:50 Pm: Ishana Night Shyamalan’s debut film is on the move, again. And the new date is a familiar one. Two months after Warner Bros. shuffled The Watchers back by a week to the June 14-16 Fathers Day frame, the pic is headed back to its original June 7 date.
It’ll have some action-packed company that Friday, going against Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the long-gestating fourth film in the nearly 30-year-old franchise. Lionsgate’s The Crow remake also was set for June 7, but that pic flew away from the date about three weeks ago and now is set for August 23.
Warners Bros. is hoping to cater to a female audience with The Watchers.
Also opening wide on June 7 is Vertical Entertainment’s The Exorcism directed by Joshua John Miller.

Ishana Night Shyamalan’s debut feature The Watched is just a couple of months away. You can catch the film’s full trailer right here.
Following a brief teaser back in February, we now have a full trailer to mark the imminent release of The Watched – known as The Watchers in the US – the debut feature from Ishana Night Shyamalan, the daughter of M Night Shyamalan.
The movie is an adaptation of Am Shine’s 2022 novel of the same name. Like her father before her, Shyamalan Jr has leaned into the power of mystery when it comes to marketing her film. The blurb reads that ‘Dakota Fanning stars as Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.’
Strangers. Mysterious creatures. An untouched location.

There are two twisty thrillers directed by filmmakers named Shyamalan heading to theaters in the coming months and the filmmakers promise “unease” and “wonder.”
It wasn’t intentional, said M. Night Shyamalan, sitting down for a conversation with his daughter and fellow filmmaker Ishana Night Shyamalan.
“It just played out this way,” he began, recounting the filmmakers’ conversations with Warner Bros., which is releasing both films. “It was just: What is the best date for that movie and what is the best day for this movie? And it turned out it was in the same summer.”
First up will be the June 14 release of “The Watchers,” the feature film directorial debut from Ishana Night Shyamalan, starring Dakota Fanning as part of a group of humans trapped in the woods who are visited by a mysterious audience every night. That will be followed by the Aug. 9 debut of her dad M.

M. Night Shyamalan returns to theaters in August with new thriller Trap (watch the trailer here), but first up we’re getting the feature debut of his daughter, Ishana Night Shyamalan.
Director Ishana Night Shyamalan’s (“Servant”) horror movie The Watchers is coming to theaters on June 14, 2024, and New Line Cinema has released a brand new trailer today.
This full trailer for The Watchers gives us a much better idea of what’s going on here, while still retaining the core mystery at the center of the film. All we really know is that there’s a building in the center of the woods that’s observed on a nightly basis by… someone. Or something.
These mysterious creatures watch a group of humans like their own twisted version of reality TV. “No one sees them and survives,” one character states. A different character says, “They have come to our world for a reason,...

As Warner Bros. offers a deeper look at its upcoming thriller “The Watchers” with a new trailer, director Ishana Night Shyamalan told IndieWire at the recent Summer of Shyamalan event that audiences should be ready for more twists and turns when the film is released in June.
“It ultimately expands into a sort of dark fairy tale, fantasy essence. And that’s the thing I really love most of all,” said the filmmaker of her feature directorial debut starring Dakota Fanning as a woman who becomes trapped in the forests of western Ireland with three strangers, and is stalked at night by mysterious creatures. “In many ways, it’s using the horror genre to enter another space, and that becomes a surprise of the journey as well. So hopefully people will be vibing with it.”
In a Q&a at the April event, Shyamalan was especially proud to spotlight her quartet of actors.

The trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s new thriller Trap has arrived, giving a glimpse into Josh Hartnett’s performance as an unexpected serial killer. Watch the full clip below.
In Trap, Harnett plays a father who takes his teen daughter to a concert performed by pop star Lady Raven. The film interweaves the story with Lady Raven’s performance, taking place in near-real time.
Beginning as a wholesome family experience, the trailer drastically shifts in tone when Hartnett’s character discovers the police have set up a trap (get it?) at the concert to capture a notorious serial killer called The Butcher. Seemingly giving away the film’s big twist, Harnett is revealed to be The Butcher.
Written and directed by Shyamalan, Trap also stars Ariel Donoghue, Hayley Mills, and Allison Pill. It’s set to arrive in theaters on August 9th.

Josh Hartnett stars in M Night Shyamalan’s latest film – the serial killer, Trap. Watch the new trailer here:
Having popped up in Black Mirror and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, we’re getting plenty of Josh Hartnett on our screens. My teenage self is very happy.
The actor will next be seen in M Night Shyamalan’s latest film, Trap. Details on the film have been scarce, but we do know it centres on a serial killer attending a concert.
Well, there’s a Trap trailer now. Here it is:
Hartnett plays a serial killer who takes his teenage daughter to see Lady Raven in concert, only to find out the police are unto him and the whole thing is an elaborate plan to catch him.

A trailer for the film, which is set to reach theatres on August 9th, was shown to CinemaCon attendees earlier this month – and now it has made its way online! You can check it out in the embed above.

Guess who's back ... back again? With no disrespect intended towards Slim Shady, he's got nothing on the run that M. Night Shyamalan is currently on. The horror-focused writer/director might remain as divisive as ever, but he's all but put to rest any doubts about whether he still has the juice or not (as the kids say). After wrapping up his "Eastrail 177" trilogy -- that's "Unbreakable," "Split," and "Glass" for the uninitiated -- and getting the franchise fever out of his system, Shyamalan has focused almost exclusively on bold adaptations like "Old" and "Knock at the Cabin." Meanwhile, on the television side of things, he brought the Apple TV+ series "Servant" to an unsettling end and has even found time to watch his daughter Ishana Night Shyamalan get ready to make her feature directing debut with the upcoming "The Watchers."

With his latest film “Trap,” filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan is letting the audience in on one of his signature twists a little earlier this time around.
In a new trailer for the thriller, which was first shown during the Warner Bros. CinemaCon presentation in early April, star Josh Harnett is first shown as a dad taking his teenage daughter to a pop concert akin to one of the blockbuster tours that dominated summer 2023. Leaving his seat for the bathroom, Hartnett’s character notices a higher-than-normal police presence around the venue and asks a concessions worker if he knows what’s going on.
Turns out, that Lady Raven concert is a sting operation to catch a serial killer on the loose in the city. After thanking the worker for the tip, Hartnett goes into the bathroom stall, pulls out his phone, and opens an app that reveals security footage of a...

Columbia Pictures and Wayfarer Studios It Ends With Us, directed and starring Justin Baldoni, and also headlining Blake Lively has moved from June 21 to Aug. 9. The pic is based on the Colleen Hoover novel.
Sony believes the film will be strong counterprogramming in the early August frame against Lionsgate’s Borderlands, Amazon MGM’s The Fire Inside and the movie, and Warner Bros’ M. Night Shyamalan genre thriller The Trap.
It Ends With Us moves away from Focus Features’ Bikeriders on June 21, which stands as the only wide release. Following Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die on June 7, the month’s box office will get a big boon from Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out 2 on June 14. The next big tentpole after that amid a month of adult skewing titles that includes New Line’s The Watchers and Kevin Costner’s Horizon, is Illumination/Universal’s Despicable Me 4.

A group of people stuck in an isolated location being terrorized by enigmatic and very possibly supernatural forces residing just outside the barriers of their refuge, all of which feels more like a waking dream than events taking place in the real world? "The Watchers" is a Shyamalan joint alright, just not the Shyamalan who gave us thrillers like "Signs," "The Village," and "Knock at the Cabin." This intriguing big-screen take on A. M. Shine's novel of the same name instead comes from writer and director Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of M. Night and a first-time feature filmmaker looking to mark a splash after helming multiple episodes of the acclaimed Apple TV+ series "Servant" (which M. Night also worked on as a producer and director) and doing second unit work on some of her pop's pictures since his return to low-budget thrillers around a decade ago, starting with "The Visit.

Back in 1967, The Beatles told us, “All You Need Is Love.” Back in 2004, writer Hiroshi Sakurazaka brought the world a novel called All You Need Is Kill, which served as the basis for the 2014 Tom Cruise sci-fi adventure Edge of Tomorrow… and I could understand why the title was changed for the movie, as All You Need Is Kill never sounded quite right to me. A better version would be All You Need Is Death – and that’s the title the makers of an upcoming folk horror movie have decided to use for their film, which is set to receive a VOD and limited theatrical release on April 11th. McKenna Grace reprises her lead role as Phoebe in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” which led the weekend box office with $45 million. At 17 she is not yet a household name, but she laid some groundwork early: At age six she had a supporting role on the Disney Channel sitcom “Crash & Bernstein.” Later she received an Emmy nomination for her work in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and portrayed the younger selves for the leads in movies like “I, Tonya” and “Captain Marvel.”
Her “Ghostbusters” co-star is Finn Wolfhard, who made his debut at 13 in CW’s “Supernatural” before starring in “Stranger Things” and “It.” Zendaya, star of “Dune: Part Two,” got her start as a Disney Channel regular. Her co-star, Oscar-nominated Austin Butler, cut his teeth at Nickelodeon.
It’s a strange juxtaposition: Child actors are currently at the forefront of the uncomfortable but necessary conversation centered in Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz...

The daughter of an iconic horror filmmaker making a thriller about a father sacrificing himself? Just don’t call it meta.
Caitlin Cronenberg’s directorial feature debut “Humane” is a family thriller starring Peter Gallagher as a patriarch whose suicide plan goes haywire, leaving his children (Jay Baruchel and Emily Hampshire) to fight for their own survival. Cronenberg is the daughter of body horror auteur David Cronenberg; her brother Brandon Cronenberg helmed “Possessor” and buzzy thriller “Infinity Pool.”
“Humane” takes place over the course of a single day, set months after a global ecological collapse has forced world leaders to take extreme measures to reduce the earth’s population, per the official synopsis. In a wealthy enclave, a recently retired newsman has invited his grown children to dinner to announce his intentions to enlist in the nation’s new euthanasia program. But when the father’s plan goes horribly awry,...

What if “Friday the 13th” was told through Jason Voorhees’ point of view?
First-time feature writer/director Chris Nash’s slasher “In a Violent Nature” focuses on undead serial killer Johnny (Ry Barrett) who stalks new victims in the woods. The killing spree is spurred by the removal of a locket from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a spirit seeking revenge after a horrific 60-year old crime. Johnny’s body is resurrected and he becomes hellbent on retrieving the jewelry from a group of vacationing teens. The only way to do it? Methodically slaughtering them one by one. Classic Johnny.
Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor round out the cast. “In a Violent Nature” is produced by Peter Kuplowsky and Shannon Hanmer.

Nick Fury is a spy above everything else. You don’t get to be the director of a top-secret organization unless you are the best at what you do. It is always expected that Nick Fury will have a backup plan for a back plan, and the new theory has come to light pointing out exactly what his backup plan was for the Avengers.
Nick Fury in The Avengers
Nick Fury has repeatedly proved himself to be a character who always has a plan ready to go. As a spy, he deals with knowledge and information, something he likes to keep from his enemies, but actively seeks out himself, not just about his enemies, but also his allies and friends.
Stan Lee was Nick Fury’s Spy
Stan Lee’s cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Nick Fury has a host of informants that keep him in the loop about what has been going on.

Andrew Scott plays Tom Ripley in Netflix’s new adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s novel. Take a look at the first Ripley trailer here.
Fresh off the success of the incomparable All Of Us Strangers, Andrew Scott will next be seen on the small screen, this time playing a slippery con artist. We got a brief teaser of Ripley back in January, but we now have a longer look at the Netflix miniseries.
Take a look at the first full trailer for Ripley below.
Based on Patricia Highsmith’s popular Tom Ripley novels, Ripley looks particularly stylish and has a pretty stacked cast.
While Scott plays the titular Tom Ripley, he is joined by Dakota Fanning (also to be seen in The Watchers later this year) and Johnny Flynn.
Of course, this isn’t the first adaptation of Highsmith’s Ripley novels. 1999’s The Talented Mr. Ripley starred a young Matt Damon as Ripley,...
