Sibling Love and Dedication Shine in 'My Bloody Brother'
randasplitsine8 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Shot entirely within the confines of their house, the film showcases the brother's progress as he practices tirelessly, with his sister's unwavering support and encouragement. The footage is skillfully edited to highlight the brother's growth, from his fumbling early attempts to his confident mastery of the skill. The sister's love and dedication shine through in every shot, as she works tirelessly to capture her brother's progress and offer him the feedback and motivation he needs to succeed. The final scene is a triumph, as the brother executes his freestyle routine flawlessly, with his sister cheering him on from behind the camera. My Bloody Brother is a beautiful tribute to the power of sibling love, dedication, and support (and it is funny). The film is expertly crafted, with a seemingly raw amateurish cinematography, and a heartfelt message that will resonate with viewers of all ages. A perfect 10/10 rating is well-deserved for this touching and inspiring film.

The ultimate COVID film

"My Bloody Brother" is a timely and intimate film that captures the human experience of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shot entirely at home, the film follows a family as they navigate the challenges of lockdown, isolation, and uncertainty. The film is a testament to the resilience and creativity of people in the face of adversity. The use of homemade props and sets adds a charming and authentic feel to the film, and the performances are heartfelt and genuine. "My Bloody Brother" is a poignant reminder of the power of human connection and the importance of coming together in times of crisis. It is a must-see for anyone who has lived through the pandemic or wants to gain a deeper understanding of its impact on our lives.

Awwww

This film is too sweet for anyone to watch. The sister character is so adorable and captured my heart although she's never shown on screen. I simply love her.

I also love the nonchalant way the brother goes by his day, his acceptance of whatever his sister does to him, and his cute guilt of being afraid being captured in a serious way. The chemistry is palpable and crystal clear. It only made sense to me when I've learned that they are actually brother and sister in real life, which added more to the aw factor.

The cinematography was too casual and clearly not professional, but that -in my opinion- was a part of how genuine this film really is.

the good, the bad and the ugly Warning: Spoilers
The Good:

the DOP had his fingerprint clear in the film: raw but not bad.

The actors' sincere emotions and realistic portrayals establish a strong and relatable connection with the audience. The acceptance and support between the brother and the sister demonstrates the depth of the characters bond accurately, very good for not so "established" actors.

It is funny, in a subtle cringy way, but still somehow funny (don't ask)

The Bad:

The pace is a little slow, but not too slow.

No twists.

The Ugly:

Lack of professional polish, oversaturated sometimes and under-saturated on the other times.
