I happened across this recently trying to find an alternative to the Nth repeat of Blue Bloods. It was shown as two 30 minute episodes.
I am considerably older than the target audience, but I found it quite watchable. It reminded me of shows like Fuller House (2016), and Charles in Charge (1984) to name a few, or for those old enough to remember, Family Affair (1966). In fact, lead actress Debby Ryan reminds me very much of Kathy Garver from that show.
Of the guest stars, Maia Mitchell did an excellent job, you easily believe she is some kind of film super-star. Also a very good job at casting, when in the black wig, Debby Ryan really does look quite a bit like her. Enough so that you could see the two of them in the IMDb picture set of actresses and their stunt doubles. Their chemistry was also good, Maia was invited back for another two-parter the next season.
The only let-down is the story-line with John DeLuca is a little bit boiler-plate, and his character is a rather one-dimensional.
The side story with the various zoo animals was amusing, and fortunately did not distract from the main story line.
