Yeah. What he said.

At the moment the only other review for this episode is a complaint about the cliffhanger ending. I agree with the sentiment. I really hate cliffhangers, especially in this era of sudden cancellations. It's a cheesy move. Anyone who follows a series is no more likely to continue on account of such gimmicks. And if the next season doesn't materialize due to loss of financing, shifts in network programming goals, or mishaps befalling key cast members during hiatus, they've shafted their loyal viewers. An enjoyable Canadian series, Frankie Drake, had its plug pulled after a season climax in which 3 of the 4 stars were last seen in some form of jeopardy.

This one isn't quite as dramatic or vital as a "who shot J. R.?", or the way they left things with Parker at the end of Season 19,. But I join in expressing resentment for contrived lack of closure in ANY season finale.

You had me until the "cliffhanger"

I'm an NCIS fan. Have watched every episode. I stuck around when Tony left. I stuck around when Ziva left. I'm invested in these characters.

But the end was so out of character as to be ridiculous. I wish I could have booed. Now we have to wait a few months for the next season to explain a plot point that doesn't interest me because it is so unbelievable.

I won't ruin it anymore than that pointless ending already did. Just curious if anyone (everyone?) else in NCIS land feels the same. I mean that was off character. Contrived. Not believable. Ruined the ending of a perfectly fine season finale.

Puzzled ending..!!

Warning: Spoilers
A good plot this one..nice follow up Ep...plenty of action ...twists and turns..one of the best "new" NCIS...so far.

But the ending has me baffled..who is this guy at the end Torres wants to kill..cant be his dad..because he has already been in the show...remember Ep.."Sangre" his undercover CiA dad...so who is this guy.?...a relation...uncle...friend of the family..someone who double crossed him or his family and almost had them killed before they had to flee after their dad had to go quickly..leaving Nick and family..destitute..and having to go to their aunts to stay..no doubt all will be revealed next season..but usually a reveal is just that ..a complete reveal telling the viewer who the stranger is...NOT in this case for some reason and a bit fraustrating. Ah well roll on next season and we will find out who the stranger is then.

Good ep

This was an intense episode but I really did like it the lead up to it. And Torres going undercover had me at the edge of my seat the whole time. It was also great to see Ducky in action (unfortunately for the last time).

As for the man at the end, it seemed a bit obvious who he was so those saying who is he, well Torres had mentioned a not so nice man who treated the family horribly. Obviously not so great memories NCIS fans!

Apparently I have to continue writing otherwise I cannot submit this review. I'm looking forward to the new season but I'm in the UK, so a little far behind over here.

Was the writer too young?

Warning: Spoilers
NCIS like to use computer lingo in their scripts. LinUX, VMware, Hyper-V and so on. In Black Sky, the bad guys initiated an attack on the electric gird and power are going down city by city, state by state. Power are out, phones are down and of course, no internet. When the NCIS crew arrived at the FBI safehouse where the bad guys initiated the attack, they found the hacker still online hacking. I just wonder how the whole state is without power and they were able to hack the grid via the internet.

(I don't think the FBI will be kind enough to prepare a special link to the SCADA network for them to hack into.) Also, near the end, they have the power restored, pretty much all at once. If anyone remember the Northeast blackout of 2003, blackout of these type (and they said more than one state) power are restored gradually area by area so as not to overload the grid all at once.

Black Sky

Warning: Spoilers
NCIS had a pretty solid season, the first full one without Gibbs, but there were a lot of medium highs and a lot of lows. Not too many epic episodes.

This one had some potential: Torres in prison undercover and a race against the clock. These were the kind of elements of an exciting show. But the story never really seemed to make sense and they went too hard with the route of the corrupt government official. This is a trope that NCIS seems to utilize far too often and nothing was shocking when we found out that that official had ties to Russia and was exposed when all was said and done here tonight.

The series has jumped the shark
Waynecampbell130 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I am sorry to say the best tv series for years has finally jumped the shark 🦈 the lazy writers have destroyed the show by allow this totally unbelievable episode to go to air all of American save by half a dozen navy cops and and all power stations brought back on line by one agent McGee single handed on his trusty laptops all the other law enforcement's agencies sitting on the backside, doing nothing at all well all this was going on. It is just all too much to believe and once you stop believing in what you were watching what's the point of it all maybe 20 seasons is just too many. Oh, as I said, the right is I've got so lazy that they are destroying the show.

A good episode!
harrykivi8 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As said before, the 20th season of "NCIS" hasn't been a favorite. The season had very few solid episodes and a lot of average to decent ones. "Black Sky" is good way to end a season, but the story could have been better.

Let's start with the good.

. The production values of "Black Sky" are great as usual. The episode is very well-directed, the music fits the scenery and the acting's solid. Wilmer Valderrama is very good here.

. The mystery is compelling for the most part. Enjoyed the action scenes and the tension is very well built.

But...

. Not all of the dialogue is good. Some of it comes off exposition-heavy, couple of the jokes feel out of place. For instance: like the scene between Palmer and Casey. Some parts of the story feel rushed, the villain is caught rather quickly. The ending is sudden agreed.

Overall, a solid episode.

7/10 HK.
