The story of a real man.
chand-suhas31 July 2023
Shashank's new directorial narrates the story of Rama (Darling Krishna) who is brought up to be a toxic male, following his father Siddegowda's (Rangayana Raghu) footprints while his innocent mom Kousalya (Sudha Belawadi) compromises her entire life for their sake. His love story with Shivani (Brinda Acharya) ends on an obvious note owing to his behavior and he ends up marrying Muthulakshmi (Milana Nagaraj), a raging alcoholic. How Rama learns his mistakes and saves his marriage forms rest of the story.

Amidst all the newcomers, Shashank has come up with a solid film to prove the old timers still have the right charm to deliver good films. The screenplay is the winner here as the key emotion involved delivers big time. The first half has a decent pace establishing Rama's character and his predicament due to toxic masculinity. There is enough humor too mainly provided by Santhu played by Nagabhushan. Pre-interval portions are heavy on sentiment as the pace drops to ensure the right impact.

It is the second half with the introduction of Milana Nagaraj's character that brings in non-stop entertainment with Nagabhushan too contributing through his counters. The humor is elevated here with few hilariously delivered lines. Here too, the emotional angle works well and the third act is handled very sensibly, hitting it hard. Barring the one Sonu Nigam song and probably the title track in the end, remaining songs fail to leave any impact and the film definitely deserved better songs.

With good performances and a terrific screenplay, Shashank has hit it out of the park making Kousalya Supraja Rama as one of the best films to release this year and a must watch. Highly recommended.

Heartfelt and sincere
shashanka32527 August 2023
A simple movie which beautifully portrays what it is to be a 'Man'. It has strong performances from the lead cast who have done justice to their roles. Darling krishna has done a good job and Nagabhushana steals the show with his key supporting role and comedic timing.

Although it explores mature themes, it has been sprinkled with comedy. You will see that it is very engaging and plays smoothly throughout its screen time.

Shashank sir is brilliant in his direction and expressed the story in a simple Suni style. I personally felt very happy with the theme and the storytelling. It is a rewatch worthy flick for those who are asking.

Heartwarming tale
bombayk-3220531 July 2023
Watched the best family entertainer yesterday.

Positives of the movie:

Performances - Nagabhushan, Rangayana Raghu and Milana Nagraj will take awards home for their flawless performances. Sudha Belawadi is so natural that one feels like watching their mother on the screen. Darling Krishna's best cinema outside Love Mocktail zone.

Direction - Shashank is back with his best work yet. Though his previous cinemas were blockbusters, humour was something that he hadn't tried. This cinema is humorous to the core. He has proved yet again that he is the go to director for complete family entertainers today.

Writing - Brilliant story. One liners are crazy, comedy scenes are hilarious especially in the second half. Emotional scenes make your eyes wet. Dialogues in those scenes break you down. Overall, amaaazing job by a newbie.

Music - second half is super hilarious and emotional because of the tempo that music has set. AJ has elevated scenes to another level. Song placement in the cinema is perfect every time.

Negatives:

A few scenes in the First half could have been trimmed. Like, it could have been better in the first 15 minutes of the cinema

Songs should have been chartbusters. These are just above average/good.

Would have loved to see more scenes of Sudha and Rangayana Raghu.

Overall, this is the best cinema in recent times. A comeback movie for Darling Krishna and Milana. Shashank too is back after a very dry phase of 6-7 years. Watch it. This is the best cinema and the most sensible cinema of late.

HIGHLY ENTERTAINING & HIGHLY EMOTIONAL
oneimdb-3285530 July 2023
Just when everyone felt that only Massy gangster dramas with highest production values will bring audiences to theatres, this cinema proved us wrong!!

In the era where only youngsters were being catered to by the filmmakers, veteran director Shashank has made sure to bring back family audiences to theatres. It was a wholesome experience to see youngsters confidently bringing the female members to the cinema. I watched it second time with my family too.

The cinema makes you laugh, smile, cry and smile again, leaving you with the feeling of watching something meaningful after ages. High on entertainment, emotions and values, the cinema never turns preachy. The most sensible concept has been narrated humorously throughout.

KFI is back with a bang in the second half of the year. This cinema will remain with us for a long time.

The best family entertainer
letterx-9764931 July 2023
Watched this movie in Hyderabad with the family. It is better than many Telugu blockbusters of late. I dont remember when was the last time all of us sat together and watched such a good cinema in theatres. Maybe Milana, nothing of that quality after that. It made us laugh, cry and still have that smile throughout its runtime. Story, script and dialogues were the best in recent times, because everything was written so decently and still made every age group laugh! It gave a feeling of watching something sensible. Performance of each artist was top notch, in fact the best in their career. Just Shashank can make such movies in today's era. Strongly recommend to every age group 🤗

Wow!!
Naveenkaranth31 July 2023
I had my own set of doubts about this cinema. So, here is how my weekend went:

28th July - Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahaani 29th July - Achar and Co 30th July - Kousalya Supraja Rama

One thing is surprisingly common in all these three cinemas. They have attempted to speak about patriarchy and sort of women's perspective about the same. On a lighter note, why don't we call July 28th the "men and women's day"?!!

Though this was the cinema I watched in the last, I feel, this is the best among all the three and hence a 10 on 10. A massy yet classy narrative built around the inherited patriarchy is a serious take on the most sensitive subject. But the point is, the narrative is rib-tickling and at the same time heart-wrenching.

I read other reviews, where people have already spoken about the performances, direction and everything else. To me, the writing was the highlight. Every single character behaved distinctively from each other. The lines they spoke, the way they reacted, the points of realisation etc.

Holistically, everything that was written was heartfelt. Some brilliant one-liners, deep statements which evoked laughter in one scene and made us think twice in the other. Just brilliant!

I hope more Kannada directors come up with something as meaningful and as entertaining as this cinema. Cheers!!

KFI is back with a sensible movie
Madhurbm1 August 2023
There was a time when KFI would boast of stories like America America, Amruthavarshini, Nammoora Mandaara Hoove etc. That phase ended long back. It was only Shashank who still stood against the tide and made movies which didn't appeal to masses.

This cinema didn't have a greatly-cut trailer. But it does have a story that resonates with almost every class of audiences that watches it. Many have praised the performances already, but to me, it is the writing and direction that have made everything else possible.

A multi-layered story, very entertaining screenplay, hilarious scenes especially in the second half and witty one-loners throughout. Honestly, script is the stage in which the cinema was half won I guess.

This is more like 2nd innings to Shashank, who went through a bad phase for more than 6 years. Hope, we get to see his new form in the next movies too.

A lot to ponder upon!!
Nirupama100231 July 2023
I honestly wasn't expecting a bit from this cinema after watching the trailer. Felt like it would be yet another typical cinema that comes and leaves.

The reality hit when my husband insisted me to watch this, and couldn't get a ticket for Saturday evening show!

The cinema started okayish to be honest. First 10-15 minutes offered nothing exceptional. But post that, it was a serious changeover and it got us involved in the narration so intensely.

One-liners & narration kept getting better and the story got so engaging that the whole theatre was erupting with laughter, dead silent with their eyes moist and what not!

I wasn't, and along with me, many women weren't getting up from their seats even after the final frame froze to the perfect family photo! There was a smile on face, lump in the throat. I couldn't speak for a while on our way back home.

Sudha Belawadi - I felt as if the team spotted my mother somewhere, observed her and then wrote the story!

Brinda, Milana, Rangaya Raghu, Krishna and most importantly Nagabhushan - they have acted like they knew they won't get a cinema as good as this ever again.

Maybe Karnataka got back the director that once delivered the finest cinemas once upon a time!

While I write this, I still have a lot running in my mind about the cinema. Undoubtedly the best cinema I have watched in the recent past.

Positive vibes only
Kavyakeshaw2 August 2023
Never thought such a serious topic of toxic masculinity could be presented in such an entertaining & emotional yet commercial narrative.

Although the cinema revolves around the protagonist Ram, it is the story of every single person he is surrounded by. He has become what he has been taught. He will then turn into what he realises.

The journey of this character and the sequence of events that cause it is what the cinema is all about.

Movies with this storyline are extremely difficult to execute. You need to keep touching the points that all other cinemas have touch based in the past, yet look refreshing. There are high chances that the cinema will look mundane and extremely boring.

That is where this cinema scores high. Extremely entertaining, equally heart-wrenching screenplay and dialogues set this movie apart from rest of the cinemas in this genre. There is not even a single dull moment at all.

Performances by all the artists are the best in Kannada in more than a decade. Music is very good by Arjun Janya. Shashank has made a terrific comeback through this cinema.

It is not that the cinema is flawless, but the kind of wholesome experience it offers is soooo freaking good, that it negates tiny hiccups that exist.

A near-perfect family cinema after.... umm I don't remember which was the last one.

A good Kannada cinema after a long time
PunithPatel3 August 2023
Watched this cinema in a single screen theatre on a weekday. It was a pleasant surprise to see just the first row being empty in the otherwise packed cinema hall. Cinema's first victory was this - bringing crowd, FAMILY CROWD to be specific back to theatres in full capacity.

The second victory was to make everyone stay inside the theatre even after the final credits were rolling. The perfect family photo in the end summed up the cinema indeed. It is a cinema about families, for families!

There was entertainment in abundance throughout, emotions in ample quantities too. Eyes get moist, smile finds a place comfortably on your face all along, theatres erupted with laughter as the scenes in the second half were too funny. A brilliant story that all age groups could connect with. What more ingredients is needed for a perfect family entertainer?

It is after watching these cinemas that makes us believe that life is beautiful! STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!

Complete Family Entertainer
harshithgowda-343996 August 2023
To start with After Love Mocktail 1 this is Krishna's career best. This one is one of such movies we love to watch again and again without getting bored.

A complete Family Entertainer. Director Shashank has captured the emotions brilliantly. The Highlight is our very own Bamaida Dr Nagbushan killed it. We will witness a new Milana in this one, it wasn't easy to perform this character and she did it like a pro.

Both the parents were professional actors and they proved it yet again. If there was one thing which lacked was The Dance and video songs quality could have been better.

A must watch and this one worth your time.

What a pleasant watch! So well done Shashank and team
hema_bornwild16 September 2023
Wow! Another beautiful surprise after Hondisi bareyiri this year.

Such perfection. I didn't know it was a Shashank direction till the last scene. Such perfection in everything.

Casting is beautiful everyone amazing, smallest roles are carefully casted. There's no error anywhere. Milana and Krishna have exceeded expectations.

Usually the drunk acting always goes to over acting but Milana has done so amazing. What was Prashanth Neel thinking when he cast "you know who"

Rangayana Raghu, Sudha Belvadi have all brought back the old glory days once again.

Beautiful to eyes, pleasant on heart and along with all that A GREAT AND MUCH NEEDED SOCIAL MESSAGE!

Successful Transformation of a Man
Friday-6pm9 October 2023
The movie explores the journey of a man who is deeply entrenched in the patriarchal belief system of masculine supremacy and domestic abuse. He is initially proud of his ability to control his girlfriend and force her to submit to his will. However, through a series of events, he begins to see the error of his ways and realizes the devastating impact of his actions on his girlfriend and family.

He starts to question his own beliefs and assumptions, and to see the world from his mother and girlfriend's perspective. He comes to understand that domestic abuse is never justified, and that it is important to respect and cherish one's partner.

With the help of his mother and a supportive community, the man begins to heal and transform himself. He learns to communicate effectively, to resolve conflict peacefully, and to be a loving and supportive husband.

In the end, the man becomes the very thing he once despised: a man who respects his wife and is her best friend.

Movie full of Mixed and and prospects of each one. Mother sentiment and ending made me cried. All Actors have done a tremendous acting. Mr Nagabhushan witty comedy makes you laugh throughout the movie. Milana And Krishna chemestry is awesome. Shashank Direction is good. Movie shooting done in mysore parts looks serene. Rangayana Raghu acting as always good. Very good social message. Every men and women individuality, time should be respected. Good family entertainment after long time in Kannada Film Industry. I was bored of watching big budget movie. This movie brings a new kind of lime light in KFI. More of such good story line movies should come.
