Fantastic concept and great competition, marred by cheap English localization.

First off, as far as reality shows go, this one's got a strong hook to it. The basic concept is that for every round the players get a set amount of time to perform the tasks needed to complete challenges with the ability to earn more time via hidden capsules or by being the one to complete the challenge. In each challenge are safety circles that they can stand in where their countdown clocks are frozen. In each round is a secret golden capsule that will allow the finder to subtract time from a rival, as well as hidden bonuses and penalties provided by the host at various points throughout the entire series of levels. If they run out of time or they're the lowest in the ranking at the end of the round they are eliminated with quite a nice vfx flair. The host Cristinini is fantastic, she's got an ascerbic edge to her that comes through even in the dub and she controls the events and challenges as the Master of Time.

The personalities of the contestants are varied, standard reality show mix of cantankerous and (un)cooperative from various occupations and walks of life. If you've ever watched a reality show, you won't find many surprises in terms of alliances/targets/gameplay/etc.

Speaking of the English dub, it's not great. It's available as 'English Audio Description' and that's where it falls down. I'm not visually impaired, but if I were I'd easily get lost as more attention seems to be paid to the show's logo and overhead shots than the actions of the contestants during gameplay. In addition to the lackluster audio description, there is only a single female VA and single male VA to translate what the contestants are saying. Compounding the problem is that the male VA is also the one providing the descriptive audio! Needless to say, it's very easy to get lost if you're not paying attention. Thankfully it's one of those dubs where they leave the original audio intact, but ducked down so you can mostly work out who is saying what. Hopefully, if there is a season 2, they get a more populated voice cast or at least a separate commentator/narrator from the male VA.

If you enjoy competitive reality shows I strongly recommend it and I would really enjoy it if it was imported to the States in our own version. Watch it in the original Spanish with subtitles though, skip the English audio unless you absolutely need it.

Good concept bad dubbing

The show is in Spanish but you can choose English dubbing; that ends about half way through the season so you have to read the captions. The dubbing is terrible and makes the characters sound unrealistic; especially the game show curator who was very annoying. The first few episodes when it is dubbed, there is a commentator explaining the scenes for the blind which you can't turn off. The captions do not indicate who is speaking and with everything going on it's hard to keep up with. If you speak Spanish it is probably a much better show. However, The concept was good enough to hold my attention to the end.

Decent show but host too annoying

I agree with what has been said about the concept. It is actually good. It's the (only) positive thing about the show, and it's the reason i watched the whole season.

Now for the negative, to me it's the host who is really annoying. She talks too damn much, and what i find really irritating is the way she tries to influence the viewer's opinion about situations, contestants's personnality or gameplay etc... with her commentary.

I have a hard time with Reality-TV hosts doing that kind of things. If editing wasn't enough to steer viewers a certain way, she had to pile on with annoying/unnecessary biased commentaries.

In my opnion, a host should just present challenges, explain the rules, explain how the game will play out during the season, and should remain neutral regardless of the situation.

Also, this show looked like it was on a budget a little bit. That's not a negative of course. The most important thing about a show is a good concept, and this one definitively has that. But i wouldn't mind watching an American or Australian version of this show which would certainly have a higher production value.

Yeah....so, 4 stars out of 10 is about right i think.

my review about Timezone

It's amazing how good the series is. The tracks and the place where the game is played are well put together. The place and the program are put together in a more sophisticated way, the visual elements are beautiful. The people are very interesting and the fact that the players are revealed during the game is also what they are like. The whole series is unpredictable and something exciting is always happening. The host of the show, Cristinini, does his job very well. The way he talks is very interesting and exciting. Perfect for a show host. This series is now my favorite and I'm already waiting for season 2.
