Gets the difficult balance just right regarding comedy, death and personal growth/acceptance

When Francis Cooper's mother dies it shocks him because he always assumed older members of his family would go first; this presents the idea that he may die out of sequence and he sets out to figure out when this could happen and how to stop it happening soon. Emily Madison is struggling with the fact that she hit and killed someone in a car accident, she hasn't told anyone apart from the police and she is not sure what she is feeling. Craig McKay is always being told by his (ex) girlfriend that he is irresponsible and it is hard to argue when the death of one of his cats from his negligence makes him feel alone and useless. We follow these three over the course of a week.

This short film about death, accidents and consequences is disarmingly funny but also engaging, thoughtful and satisfying. It is narrated by Alexei Sayle and his voice fits the material and tone really well, because essentially the film is upbeat even though it is quite dark and potentially upsetting (basically emotional cat lovers shouldn't watch it). The animation is round and gentle and it matches the voice and material well. Personally I found the tone to make it funny but not to the point where I lost the message or wasn't affected by the characters journey.

It looked good, had great narration and the judgment on tone and content was really well made. Funn but also upsetting and (ultimately) comforting. Nice little short film.
