It’s a deceptively big month on Prime Video in September! To kick things off, The Wheel of Time will be back for a second season on the service, while a live-action The Boys spinoff series called Gen V will be capping off the original series content later in the month.
But there are also some interesting new projects lined up between those two biggies. On September 15, Jenna Coleman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen star in what is sure to be a delicious tale of revenge. Wilderness, based on B.E. Jones’ novel of the same name, stars Coleman as a heartbroken wife who discovers her husband has been cheating on her after she gives up her whole life to move over to America with him and support his career.

HBO’s massively epic series “Game of Thrones” has a large ensemble cast spanning over a dozen actors. However, if anyone was asked who the “star” of the show is, they’d probably all point to Kit Harrington, who plays Jon Snow. Through the series’ first seven seasons, Harrington’s Snow has risen from a side character, and moral center of a world filled with villains, to the hero that is expected to save the entire world.

The final three contestants in season six of “Project Runway All Stars” are pretty evenly matched. Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams all won multiple design challenges over the course of the season. And they all received more high scores than low scores from the judges. But who deserves to win? We polled “Runway” fans, and though it was a close call, Hudson is our readers’ choice to take home the title. Scroll down for our complete results.
Hudson was picked by a leading 42% of respondents, which is impressive given that his journey almost ended in episode two, “Damsels in Distress,” in which he finished in the judges’ bottom two. Kelly Dempsey went home instead that week, so who knows — maybe she would have ended up in the finale if she were the one who had been spared at that pivotal moment.

Helen Castillo is the last woman standing in season six of “Project Runway All Stars.” Is there a chance she could win the whole competition, or is she doomed to be eliminated just like every other woman on the show?
The season started with 16 contestants: 9 women and 7 men. After 8 episodes the show is down to 1 woman and 6 men. Carlos Casanova was eliminated in the season premiere episode, but then the women were picked off one-by-one: Kelly Dempsey in “Damsels in Distress,” then Ari South and Melissa Fleis in “Perfect Pairings,” Candice Cuoco in “Balls Out,” Amanda Valentine in “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” Char Glover in “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” Kimberly Goldson in “A Kick in the Astro” and Merline Labissiere in “Mizrahi Madness.”

Another one bites the dust — and by that I mean, yet another woman is eliminated on “Project Runway All Stars,” the seventh in a row out of eight eliminations thus far. Kimberly Goldson was eliminated from the show in episode seven, “A Kick in the Astro,” even though it was the first time she had even gotten a low score from the judges. She actually got high scores in “Perfect Pairings” and “Balls Out.” So did she really deserve to be sent home in this avant garde challenge? Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know.
Goldson seemed to know she was in trouble early on. She said she wasn’t intimidated by the cosmic avant garde challenge even though it was outside her comfort zone. She decided to take her inspiration from neutron stars with colors of orange, yellow and gold. But as...

Stanley Hudson had a slow start in “Project Runway All Stars” season six, narrowly avoiding elimination in the second week of competition. But he found his groove by episode four, “Balls Out,” when he won an unconventional-materials challenge. Then he got another high score in the most recent episode, “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop.” Nevertheless, our users think he’s the likeliest to be eliminated in episode seven. Do you agree?
As of this writing Hudson gets leading odds of 9/4, which translates to a 30.61% chance of elimination based on the combined predictions of “Project Runway” fans we poll every week for their picks (you can make your picks too right here before tonight’s show). But this isn’t the first time our users thought Hudson was a goner. In fact, he was predicted to be eliminated the very week he won the “Balls Out” challenge. So now...

Will Helen Castillo be eliminated from “Project Runway All Stars” in episode six? That’s what the “Runway” fans we’ve polled are predicting. This is actually the second week in a row our users have forecast her downfall, but she advanced safely through episode five, “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” despite getting on the judges’ — and her fellow contestants’ — bad side the week before in “Balls Out.” If her luck does run out in tonight’s episode she’ll be the sixth woman in a row to get her walking papers.
As of this writing Castillo leads our predictions with odds of 5/4, which translates to a 44.25% chance of elimination. In addition to her low score and controversial behavior in “Balls Out,” she also had a low score in the first episode when her team of “All Stars” veterans lost the season-opening team challenge. After last week’s difficult unconventional-materials challenge on “Project Runway All Stars,” the designers got to be heroes just for one day. In season six, episode five, “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” the remaining 11 competitors created looks inspired by women’s inner superhero. So whose looks were a marvel, and whose were fashion kryptonite? Scroll down to follow along with our minute-by-minute live blog of all the highs and lows.
One of the biggest questions going into Thursday night’s show was whether all womuld be forgiven after Helen Castillo criticized her fellow designers in “Balls Out.” She created her own textile for the challenge and thought some of her competitors took the easy way out by gluing the unconventional materials to muslin forms. Helen Castillo narrowly avoided elimination in episode four of “Project Runway All Stars.” Not only was her unconventional ball gown in “Balls Out” not to the judges’ liking, they also disapproved of how she handled her critiques, disparaging her fellow designers’ methods and style choices. That was the second time in four weeks that Castillo has had one of the lowest scoring looks in a design challenge, so she may have a target on her back going into episode five tonight. Our users think she’s out of second chances and will be eliminated. Do you agree?
Every week we poll “Runway” fans for their predictions, and as of this writing Castillo gets leading odds of 19/10, which translates to a 33.96% chance of elimination. But perhaps she’ll be scared straight by last week’s close call and step up with her next design. That’s what happened to Stanley Hudson.

Amanda Valentine holds onto her lead in our “Project Runway All Stars” predictions to win season six, but how long will that last? She sailed safely through the first three weeks of the competition, but she received a low score from the judges in episode four, “Balls Out.” Now the “Runway” fans we poll every week for their picks in our predictions center say Valentine needs to watch out for Fabio Costa, who is on the rise.
Valentine remains in our top spot with leading racetrack odds of 9/5 as of this writing. That translates to a 36.02% chance of winning the competition, but after struggling in last week’s challenge she has lost some ground; going into last week’s show she had 13/10 odds, or a 43.78% chance of winning. Anyone can have an off week, but she might start to plummet in our odds if she can’t recover on Thursday night’s show.

“Project Runway All Stars” had its first big conflict of season six in episode four, “Balls Out,” when a high-pressure unconventional-materials challenge led designer Helen Castillo to lash out. While receiving negative critiques from the judges for her literal ball gown — she custom-made her own textile using a variety of balls — she decided to give some critiques of her own, commenting on the color palette and design methods of her opponents. Most of our readers we surveyed thought that was out of line. Scroll down for our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
When we asked our readers about the incident 82% said Castillo should have just accepted the judges’ criticisms without throwing her fellow designers under the bus. The other 18% said she was right that her competitors took the easy way out by gluing their ball material to muslin forms. Did she really deserve to be in...

Season six of “Project Runway All Stars” had been a mostly harmonious affair until episode four, “Balls Out,” when the designers had to figure out how to create ball gowns with actual balls in the season’s first unconventional materials challenge. Helen Castillo had one of the lowest scoring designs, but when receiving her critiques from the judges she made comments that seemed to passive-aggressively target her opponents’ looks. That led to an angry confrontation backstage, but was it fair for Castillo to deride her fellow designers or did she cross a line? Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
Castillo was throwing shade even while she was working on her design. She made a risky decision to create a new textile for her gown, an ambitious choice given the time constraints, but she felt the extra effort would distinguish her from the rest of the pack.

It was only a matter of time before the designers on “Project Runway All Stars” were faced with a dreaded unconventional-materials challenge. It takes a certain set of balls to let Chumbawamba lyrics introduce your film (“Tubthumping,” of course), but Balls Out isn’t just Any movie. Andrew Disney’s underdog sports comedy is far from conventional, and while it begins like every other “road to athletic redemption” story, a constant mockery of the sports genre rulebook turns this pee-wee effort into a Jv superstar. It’s not exactly a Tom-Brady-caliber showstopper, but more a Ryan-Howard-like slugger that belts a home run whenever jokes connect. Just expect some mighty whiffs to accompany those gut-busting dingers. Honestly, though, who cares – chicks dig the long ball, and in that respect, Disney earns plenty of fans.
The story of Balls Out follows a rag-tag intramural football team, the Panthers, and their path to redemption after disbanding during their freshman year. Even though they were crowned league champions, a crippling injury puts Grant (Nick Kocher) in a wheelchair,...

"Balls Out" first premiered as "Intramural" at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival before winning Seattle's "Best Guilty Pleasure" award later that year. Orion Releasing will open the film in theaters and on VOD June 19, 2015. (Watch the festival trailer below.) Directed by Andrew Disney and written by Bradley Jackson, the film centers on fifth-year college seniors who hop into the semi-competitive world of intramural football. It stars Jake Lacy (”Girls”), Nikki Reed (Twilight Franchise), Kate McKinnon (“SNL”), Jay Pharoah (”SNL”), Beck Bennett (”SNL”), and Nick Kocher. Film School Rejects said it's "destined to become something of a cult classic, thanks to both its charming cast and a series of highly quotable lines." With graduation, marriage, and an uncertain future on the horizon, fifth year senior Caleb Fuller (Jake Lacy) decides to do the one thing he vowed to never do again: get the ol’ flag football team back together. Can there be anything funnier than seeing Clint Howard make fun of your “yutes” word choice? Well save of course for the obvious My Cousin Vinny judge, I think not.
But that’s not why I gathered you here today. Bradley Jackson’s brilliantly bored mind is why we’re here.
Intramural is a sports comedy written by Jackson in his sophomore year of college about a boy named Caleb (played by Jake Lacey) who is a fifth year college senior in denial about life after school. In his efforts to relive his college career as freshman intramural football champion, he tries to reunite the team, even after his friend Grant Rosenfalis (Nick Kocher) became paralyzed since the last time they played.
Andrew Disney directs this comedy, which stars Lacey and Kocher in addition to Nikki Reed, Nick Rutherford, Gabriel Luna, Brian McElhaney and SNL members Kate McKinnon, Beck Bennett and Jay Pharoah.

Welcome to Holiday Favorites, a series in which Slackerwood contributors and our friends talk about the movies we watch during the holiday season, holiday-related or otherwise.
Today's pick comes from local actor and producer Russell Wayne Groves (Lord Montagu, Intramural):
Reminiscing on my childhood I can't remember a Christmas without my entire family laughing at Chevy Chase. The physical humor coupled with his smoky hiss laugh is what the holidays were and are still made of.
It’s very rare for a film to have immense re-watchability, but Christmas Vacation somehow exhibits that quality in bucketloads. I fondly remember in high school performing Chevy’s monologue "Hap-Hap Happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby danced..." in front of my drama class, probably to the dismay of my teacher.

I fondly remember in high school performing Chevy’s monologue "Hap-Hap Happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby danced..." in front of my drama class, probably to the dismay of my teacher.

Shorts Break spotlights Austin and Texas short films that you can watch right here and now ... take a break and take a look!
For the inaugural edition of Shorts Break, I decided to go with puppets. You can't go wrong with puppets (just ask John Oliver), especially if there's a catchy tune too.
Keith & Heath is a short comedy from Andy Young, and if I'd written this two months ago, I would have called him "Austinite Andy Young" ... but he's just moved to Los Angeles after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin. Keith & Heath is his undergraduate thesis film. Young also worked on the Austin-shot feature Intramural. Rumor has it (okay, his Facebook page has it) that he's working for some other former Austinites this summer, the Duplass brothers. Besides being a filmmaker, he also contributes to Moviemaker Magazine (check out his recent interview with Richard Linklater).

Every subculture, niche market, and fringe topic, no matter how minor and specific, will eventually get its own movie. This is something I firmly believe. Bike messengers have “Premium Rush,” food trucks recently got “Chef,” and then there is dodgeball, ping-pong, paintball, and damn near everything else you can imagine. Personally, I’m waiting for a movie about an over-30 co-ed kickball team, and considering that Andrew Disney’s “Intramural” takes on the no-stakes world of college recreational flag football, we’re not too far off. Despite a ridiculous premise, as well as some shortcomings typically associated with low-budget movies, “Intramural” is a goddamn blast. To compare it to the Ben Stiller/Vince Vaughn joint “Dodgeball” is not any kind of stretch because they’re basically the exact same movie. No joke, there’s even a crotchety coach in a wheelchair. It’s all supposed to poke fun at all the clichés of sports movies,...

Like many sports movie fans, I find the conventions of the sports movie both stultifyingly familiar yet oddly comforting. So when I saw the trailer for Andrew Disney’s Intramural recently, I knew I’d have check it out at the 2014 Seattle International Film Festival. While /Film readers didn’t really warm to the film’s trailer when it debuted, I […]

Normally I would not pay much attention to a movie about college guys bonding over sports, especially football. We get more than enough football here in Texas if you are not a fan. But Intramural lured me in -- shot in Austin; directed by Andrew Disney, who showed a nice touch with humor in his previous film Searching for Sonny; written by Bradley Jackson (The Man Who Never Cried). In fact, Jackson pretty much convinced Disney to direct Intramural during Hill Country Film Festival 2012 (after meeting him at Austin Film Festival -- this is why filmmakers should go to film fests), so it felt like a can't-miss as the Hcff closing-night film.
It turns out that Intramural is pretty damn funny, even for middle-age women who don't subscribe to the Texas Cult of Football. The plot is fairly standard -- a bunch of fifth-year college seniors (apparently this is a...

Every Friday, Indiewire's Springboard column profiles up-and-comers in the indie world who deserve your attention. Select profiles will include photography by Daniel Bergeron, exclusive to Indiewire. Today we talk to actor Jake Lacy. Those who watched NBC's "The Office" are already familiar with fresh faced actor Jake Lacy, who starred as customer service rep Pete Miller. With that show now off the air, Lacy is now busy proving himself as a big screen player, and he's off to a great start. In the Sundance hit comedy "Obvious Child" (out June 6th via A24), Lacy plays the straight man to Jenny Slate's adorable mess. The Tribeca Film Festival sports comedy "Intramural" finds Lacy in similar mode, embodying the only sane member of an intramural football team, engaged to a domineering basket case (current "SNL" player Kate McKinnon). In both projects, Lacy displays a quality that all the best leading men possess: a seemingly effortless charisma.

Every year at the Tribeca Film Festival, a film will debut that comes seemingly out of nowhere and takes critics and audiences completely by surprise. Last year, it was the genre-blending Israeli thriller Big Bad Wolves. This year, it’s director Andrew Disney’s hilarious sports movies send-up Intramural.
The film tells the tale of the Panthers, an intramural college football team led by heroic captain Caleb (Jake Lacy). When one of their best players becomes paralyzed “from the nutsack down” in a championship game, the team disbands, swearing off intramural football forever. Some years later, Caleb is a fourth year senior in college, studying to be a lawyer, when he is lured back to the sport. After putting a new team together to settle a score against Dick Downs (Beck Bennett) and the borderline insane Titans, Caleb finds solace in accepting that there are some things in life worth fighting for.

Young adults often struggle with conflicting emotions about whether they will be truly content in the professional and personal paths that society has deemed acceptable for them after they finish their education. That relatable internal questioning is humorously narrated in the new sports comedy, ‘Intramural,’ from rising helmer Andrew Disney and first time feature film writer Bradley Jackson. Nikki Reed leads an all-star supporting cast in the movie, which had its world premiere at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival. The actress’ character, as well as the people she interacts with throughout the story, showcase that overcoming these unexpected hurdles can actually make a person stronger when it comes to choosing [ Read More ]

There's dumb, there's dumber, and then there's “Intramural," a good-time jerkoff fest that should appeal primarily to the viral video crowd. Which isn't exactly a slam, per se: there are a number of hearty laughs in this paperweight comedy, which tries in vain to cram a joke per-minute into its runtime. Maybe effort should be rewarded, because this film certainly is trying. If you thought “Hot Rod” was an impossible bar to reach as far as bro-centric comedy, then you won't find your time wasted, necessarily. Appealing straight man Jake Lacy is Caleb, a soon-to-be-graduating college senior who has left behind a life of extracurricular enjoyment to prepare himself for the adult world. He's not only got himself a bride-to-be, but also a potential position with her father's law firm, and he's no longer haunted by the fated day in freshman year when teammate Grant was crippled during an intramural football game.

It's time again to start thinking about the Hill Country Film Festival, which runs from April 30-May 4 in Fredericksburg. I just booked my B&B (although is it really a B&B if there's no breakfast? B&Nb, perhaps?) and am looking forward to the coziest film festival I've attended.
Hcff is always fun for me because I don't have to rush from venue to venue, the parties are small and people are very friendly, and the audiences always seem to be excited about the movies. The fest is using two theaters this year, but they're not far apart, although it means some tough decision-making is in order.

Over the weekend at the Apple store in SoHo, Indiewire's Nigel M. Smith spoke with the funny guys behind "Intramural," a sports comedy film playing at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival. The conversation is part of the "Meet the Filmmaker Series," for this year's Tribeca films. The fifth time is the charm for Caleb Fuller (Jake Lacy) who is finally about to graduate high school. Before he does, though, he tries to reassemble his old football team. Directed by Andrew Disney, "Intramural" also stars Nikki Reed, Kate McKinnon, Beck Bennett and Nick Kocher. Smith got the opportunity to sit down with Disney, along with writer Bradley Jackson and actors Lacy, Kocher, and McElhaney. In the follow clips we see McElhaney explain how he received offset injury. "I broke my toe," McElhaney admitted. "I was playing a drinking game offset." We also see an audience member ask Lacy what it was like...

"I just thought, let's make these guys as sad and pathetic as possible. And there's nothing more sad and pathetic than a fifth-year senior." It was that thought process that Intramural screenwriter Bradley Jackson tells The Hollywood Reporter partly influenced the characters he created for the indie sports comedy about fifth-year seniors competing in an intramural football game. Story: 'Saturday Night Live' Adds First African-American Female in Five Years Speaking at the film's Tribeca premiere Monday night Jackson said he thought there was something sad but amusing about fifth-year college students. A few weeks ago, SNL aired one of its most hilarious, subversive sketches in recent memory: "Dyke & Fats," a '70s cop show starring Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant. Vulture caught up with McKinnon last night at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of the movie Intramural to learn more about the origins of the masterpiece."We were both really tired one night," McKinnon explains, "and I just said to Aidy, 'Man, dyke is tired,' and Aidy said, 'Fats is tired, too.' And then it became our beautiful thing that we had together and we wanted to make something out of it," McKinnon says. They enlisted the help of writers Chris Kelly and Sara Schneider — "who are geniuses," according to McKinnon — and things went from there. "It's something we wanted to do for a long time." Since the sketch aired, it's garnered quite the positive reaction, and some are...

Striking a pose in black skinnies and a tweed jacket, the brunette beauty also posed with her "Intramural" co-stars for some group shots.
Per the synopsis: "With marriage, graduation, and the real world looming on the horizon, fifth year senior Caleb Fuller reassembles the ol' team of misfits for one last epic run in Intramural football."
Premiering at the festival, "Intramural" also stars Jake Lacy and Kate McKinnon.

Kate McKinnon knows her way around a hyper-intense lady.
On Saturday Night Live, the comedian has made a name for herself going all-in on characters that wouldn’t place at the self-awareness Olympics. (“Crazy eyes” is a nickname one could often use to describe her creations.) Now, she’s bringing that energy to Intramural, her first major role in a feature film.

Andrew Disney, husband, father, and Texan, is bringing his second feature film "Intramural" to Tribeca. "Intramural" is an ensemble comedy about 5th-year college seniors going for one last shot at glory in intramural flag football. "It’s essentially my love letter to the 80s/90s sports movies of my youth" he told Indiewire. "Everything from 'Hoosiers' to 'Cool Runnings,' 'Rocky' to 'Sandlot,' and 'Teen Wolf' to 'Teen Wolf 2.'" Biggest challenge in completing this project? The Texas Sun… We were able to assemble a fantastic cast (Jake Lacy, Kate McKinnon and Beck Bennett, to name a few) but scheduling forced us to film a sports movie during July and August, the hottest months in Texas. Most of the football games were at night, but for the opening game of the film we had to shoot three days in 106 degree heat. I don’t remember much of those days.

There are some deep, hearty, tear-soaked laughs to be found in Intramural, a new comedy from director Andrew Disney, who bottled up his love of movies like Wet Hot American Summer and Hot Rod and then dumped it all over this silly sports spoof about a group of losers who long to win the most meaningless football games. Every square inch of the underdog sports movie is tossed into a joke blender and then distributed to a young, up-and-coming ensemble full of sketch-comedy veterans who feast on deconstructing a genre that's full of cheesy, emotional stories meant to tug at your bro heartstrings. Most of it works, too, mining laughs from decades worth of sports-movie clichés, and while they could've gone even further with the concept (and the comedy), the...

Sports dramas are a dime a dozen: a montage here, an inspirational speech there, and a finale at the Big Game. The genre gets an raucous send-up in "Intramural," and Indiewire has exclusive new stills before its premiere at Tribeca on Saturday night. "Intramural" stars Jake Lacy as Caleb, a fifth year senior who brings together his ragtag group of friends for one more shot at Intramural football before he graduates, gets married, and heads off into the real world. The film also takes on sports movie tropes such as the exposition-spouting announcers, the underdogs vs. their fiercer competitors, and the tough new head coach. The film co-stars "Saturday Night Live" players Kate McKinnon, Beck Bennett and Jay Pharoah, among others, and was directed by Andrew Disney ("Searching for Sonny") from a script by Bradley Jackson. Watch the trailer and check out the stills below.

The Texas heat can certainly take its toll, but perhaps never more so than on director Andrew Disney's shoot of his sports comedy "Intramural." Fortunately, the production went on to make what Disney hopes will pay homage to the classic sports movies many of us grew up with -- while also upending their notorious cliches. Above is the trailer to Intramural, debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival later this month. The comedy teams people from all sorts of comedic backgrounds, including Saturday Night Live, Derrick Comedy and Upright Citizens Brigade. The end result is a comedy about a man who doesn't want to grow up, dedicated instead to reuniting his former intramural football team to settle old scores. Hilarity, some of the fourth-wall-breaking nature, ensues. You might recognize that lead actor, even if you can't exactly place him. Well do your research you lazy bum, that's Jake Lacy. Lacy mostly made his name on TV, popping up on The Office and the late Better With You, though he was unfortunately booted from the underrated, burnt-off-in-the-summer Goodwin Games. He recently graduated to love interest with the sweet upcoming comedy-drama Obvious Child, which A24 is releasing in the summer, a film that also features a who's who...

Over the course of cinematic history, sports movies have developed into their own genre, with films such as Hoosiers and Bull Durham standing out from the field. However, there have been few parodies of the genre, with most of the comedy in such films coming from the situation that the characters find themselves in. This is the area that a new comedy, titled Intramural, aims for. Directed by Andrew Disney, working from a screenplay by Bradley Jackson, the film stars Kate McKinnon, Jay Pharoah, Beck Bennett, D.C. Pierson, Nick Kocher, Brian McElhaney, and Nikki Reed, and the first trailer has now been released. The trailer can be seen below.
