Excellent documentary series
grantss24 February 2020
A series profiling key campaigns and battles in military history.

Excellent documentary series. Well researched, with good narration and interviews with experts on the subject. No cheerleading historians who just say how great such and such was and have nothing objective or constructive to add.

The battles and campaigns are well chosen, all having a major bearing on history.

Graphics and re-enactments are a bit basic though. The other slight negative is that it can be a bit dry at times.

All in all, an ideal series if you want to know more about key military events. Even if you already have a good knowledge of military history, you'll learn something new.

True strategy without all the fillers.

This series...all three volumes...can very well be used in military classes worldwide as it gives a technical, strategical, and yet practical explanation of the military episodes in lay terms. The animation is the positioning of the participants on the battlefield used as squares...so please do not let the term animation fool you. (Not like the new Cosmos which is one long cartoon interspersed with a real human narrating every now and then.) There are fillers with character actors playing parts and soldiers which may seem cheesy to some, but it appeals to the lay person. I rank this in the same category as "Soviet Storm" and "Battleground". So if you want a thorough chess-board type explanation of battles...this is for you.

Well documented

I only saw the episode of the 6-day war, but I highlight that it is very well narrated with a good compilation of historiographic material, I think I saw it on the discovery channel or the History channel several years ago, I honestly think it is very well done (Sounds , music, layout and narrative thread) and the narrator of the events takes a neutral position, I definitely recommend the series, even though it is already years old, I attest that many of the new productions that are coming out at this time are of lower quality despite editing improvements. This is very noticeable in the selection of the graphic material used and how there is no excessive use of renders.

10/10.
