One of the best scenes in 'The Toll' is a hotel suite meeting between Boyd and Wynn Duffy, with a new entrant into the partnership (the lovely Mary Steenburgen). The topic of discussion certainly isn't flowery, but it gets a charge out of the exchange of Southern pleasantries that always seem to be thinly-veiled threats.
This is an all-around solid episode with surprises all over the place (even in the cold open with a major character getting shot). We're nearing the end of the Crowes' arc and this proves that it won't be dull. It also firmly reestablishes Boyd Crowder as a bona fide wild card, a real viper when cornered (Goggins is in fine form here). It's right here that he throws out one of the show's best lines:
"I may not know a lot about a lot of things, but I know how to blow shít up!"
8/10
