Fantastic Show Going From Strength to Strength
watkissj-67-81472812 May 2016
The Game Chasers follow Jay and Billy searching for vintage video games across America. Followed by their trusty crew of chodes, the guys have stumbled across some really rare gems, but this is only part of the story. The show is also about friendship, adventure and watching Eric get caught slipping.

Various episodes also feature other similar game enthusiasts from YouTube and offers a real insight into their passion. Furthermore, a mention should also be given to Melvor and Dodongo who also help make the show very funny. Melvor clearly puts a lot of effort into various episode and well.... Dodongo doesn't!

Having watched the show for over a year I still eagerly wait the next show, and despite the 'sometimes' long waits between episodes, it has gone from strength to strength. The gap between episodes is totally understandable once you see the effort they have put into creating such a show and in fact makes it all the more exciting when a notification pops up for the newest episode.

It seems rare to find such a show on YouTube, as general content seems to be a stable diet of vlogs, cats, playthroughs and quick easy content to generate. The Game Chasers have put the effort in and it shows.

If your a child of the late 70's and 80's or someone who has a real passion for retro games then this show is perfect for you.

"That's really good game!" Still going strong!
This is probably the most entertaining series about video game hunting that I've ever seen. When I first started watching it took me little while to really get into what it was all about and warm to the Chasers, but now it's one of my real YouTube favourites shows for sure. It primarily features brothers Billy, Jay and Melvin who always gets called "Melvor" and is usually operating the camera, as well as some of their other buddies as they travel all over visiting things like garage sales, flea markets, packed warehouses, as well as private dealers and collectors in search of video game related rarities, and it's just a lot of fun to watch, I find it makes for some pretty absorbing viewing. It's not a series that's about playing games at all really, it's much closer to reality tv, but all the guys seem like such down to earth cool people and the show has such a mellow and completely non-pretentious on-the-road vibe to it that I just love, it's a cool little show. Some of the guys are just about old enough to have lived through the arrival of the earliest home consoles and the heyday of arcade machines, and their main collecting interests are in the retro stuff and I can relate to that, as well as what it's like to be one of three brothers! I mostly love watching how everyone interacts and plays off each other, they laugh they bicker they fart, sometimes they even get seriously ticked off, but they're still bros! A lot of big and small surprises can come with cross-country game hunting, such as a well known instance when they visited a bridge that one of their friends used to sleep under during a period of homelessness, and the guy in question just breaks down and pours his heart out, and it was an amazing and touching moment in a show that you'd never expect one from, and it's the unexpected little things like that that makes me love a show like this. The main series focus is on their game expeditions, but they also do a lot of one-shot "minisodes" about all kinds of things like their personal top 10 favourite childhood toys, best and worst lists about movies and games they'd rent as kids, just funny stories and anecdotes and mini documentaries on things like Toys R Us and the 80s "Boglins" toyline! These guys are fun, frequently hilarious, likeable, and I love all of their output, and I think it's a great show to watch if you have an interest in retro game and toy collecting, keep up the great work Chasers cause you do it right! Absolute Fantastic Show - "ThAt's mY PlAystAtioN!"

The Game Chasers is one of my favourite shows, period. One of my favourite Youtube shows ever, up there with AVGN. Shady Jay and Billy search for vintage video games across America visiting flea markets, thrift stores, antique shops and game conventions. Followed by their friendly crew of chodes, the guys stumble across rare and obscure retro video games, sharing their unique finds along with words of wisdom, crude humor, the passing of gas, and acts of kindness/friendship.

If you love retro video games, humour and/or a great adventure, then you will enjoy this show.

I would recommend watching my favourite 3 episodes: 1) Episode 53 - 'Relics of the Past' - Billy and Jay find some old arcade cabinets in a disused mall that they used to buy games from as kids, restoring them to former glory in the next episode.

2) Episode 61 - 'Under the Bridge Midtown' - the touching story of Dodongo and where he slept during hard times.

3) Episode 52 - 'Paranormal Chodetivity' - A hilarious episode where the guys visit a store basement and Eric gets scared silly.

If you watch the shows on Youtube, enjoy them and want to support the channel, I highly recommend the DVD/Blu-rays. I have them all and the extras and production value included are well worth it.
