Leaving aside the ways, the how, the who, this episode is to enjoy a wonderful conversation with the past four Hokages. The Nidaime (2nd) Tobirama is not glad to see Orochimaru again as the one who used Edo Tensei to bring them back. Hiruzen realizes that his former pupil took them away from the shinigami, so Minato is stunned. Orochimaru explains that after losing his arms, he got to study forgotten scrolls of clans like the Uzumaki, and found a way. Hashirama is surprised to see Minato, and is glad to learn that the village had a 4th Hokage. He thought the village got to be stable, but Minato is obviously unsure. When he asks who is the fifth, the Sannin says, "your granddaughter, Tsunade". Hashirama is stunned, but just because he spoiled her too much as a child. She inherited his love for gambling and betting. The 1st Hokage ends up laughing, and Suigetsu is surprised by his joyful attitude. Tobirama questions Orochimaru for using the Edo Tensei, and intending to attack Konoha again, while Hiruzen feels bad because he sacrificed his life for taking his jutsus. The Shodaime is tired of wars, and tells his brother that the Edo Tensei was really a bad jutsu to create. Tobirama tells him to shut up. So the Sannin finally tells why he is there, and allows Sasuke to talk, start his questioning. Hiruzen is surprised, while Tobirama is not, as an Uchiha is with the enemy. His brother reprimands him for talking like that. Then, Sasuke asks Hiruzen about Itachi. Aware that now he knows the truth, the Sandaime tells that after the massacre, Itachi entered Akatsuki as a spy for Konoha. Itachi from young always paid attention to the signs and stories of their ancestors, and got worried for the future of the village. At the age of seven he already thought as a Hokage. Maybe that's why he never felt so attached to his clan. They trusted a lot to him, and he fulfilled his mission perfectly (the massacre, stopping a rebellion, preventing a war), all with the only request for Hiruzen to protect Sasuke. Tobirama comments that it was the cursed fate of the Uchihas. He didn't know all this, but he thought that sooner or later they could intent a coup d'etat, some followed Madara's will. Orochimaru still blames him, for putting the Uchihas in charge of the police, and the prison. People usually dislikes the police, and they become proud and arrogant. Hashirama reprimands him, but Tobirama justifies his decision, he gave them a job they were very good at, and to be prevented in case a new Madara appeared. This brother knew that the Uchihas were a clan possesed by evil. Orochimaru thinks that he has a trauma with Madara. Then, Sasuke asks the 2nd about the Uchihas. Tobirama tells: the rivalry of the Senjus and the Uchihas. One clan prioritized the love, and the other prioritized jutsus, power. But this wasn't really true. There's no clan with more love than the Uchiha. It's like when they love, they release all the repressed emotions, and becomes stronger than the Senju's love. But their live is so strong that can make them mad. When they lose the beloved person, it turns into a strong hatred, changing them. And they develop a symptom: certain chakra emerges from the brain and affects the optic nerve, producing the Sharingan. The Sharingan is connected to the person's feelings, and becomes stronger with the hatred. Many of the Uchiha are too sensible, and when they fall in the darkness, they became impossible to deal with, like Madara. Hashirama tells that Madara loved his brother too much. Tobirama intended to channel the Uchiha's power some way in order to help the village. But if they ended up destroying themselves for the sake of Konoha, there's nothing to be done. Hashirama reprimands him again, thinking Sasuke is an innocent Uchiha kid. But the 2nd says that the most important is the village. Sasuke admits he is not a child or innocent, reveals the Mangekyo, and asks the 1st about the village and the shinobi. He wants to know why Itachi did what he did for Konoha and the shinobi, before making a decision to revenge or not. Aware that Sasuke is possesed by the Uchiha's evilness, Tobirama unleashes his power, scaring everyone. But Hashirama does the same, to calm him down. Then, he gives a laughter, and tells Sasuke that Itachi was a great shinobi, better than him. He will talk, but it's going to take a while. Orochimaru says they don't have much time, and updates them about the war and Madara. Tobirama confirms, and feels two powerful chakras, one of Madara, and the other that Minato recognizes as his son's and the Kyuubi. He is glad to learn that he did it. Hiruzen wants to go to the war, aware of the Madara's danger, but Orochimaru will defend Sasuke's will, and order them to stay and destroy Konoha in case. Tobirama intends to leave anyway, but the Sannin stops him. Hashirama praises Hiruzen's pupil, and the 2nd realizes that he is using Hashirama's cells to control him. Orochimaru realizes that he can't control the 1st, he is different. Hashirama will tell the story and try to clear the darkness out of Sasuke, because if he ignores him, he will become Madara and provoke another war anyway. Tobirama allows his brother to talk: he begins with the last battle with Madara, where he fought him to protect all what they had built, the village. They were friends, but Madara cut that bond. Hashirama had to face the Kyuubi armoured with Susanoo, but he had his own strong summonings to defend himself.

I wrote a long recap because the whole talk was excellent. Hashirama and Tobirama are two amazing characters, a brilliant pair of brothers. Tobirama was great to be harsh, realistic, serious, but also good hearted. Danzo probably inherited his will to protect the village at all costs, but the 2nd wasn't extreme. He was wise, respectful, and honest, and tried to please the Uchihas in the way he could. Aware that was dangerous to allow one of them to be Hokage when Madara's figure was still present, letting them to be policemen wasn't really a bad idea. If they were misled, it's their fault. Tobirama gave them a chance to be heros. Anyway, he did said some unnecesary words. Hashirama's reprimands were fine sometimes. He did talk lightly about the Uchiha annihilation if was for the sake of the village, that's when his brother rises as a better man. What he said about their extreme love explains perfectly Sasuke, Obito, and Madara's change. But not Itachi's. Every time the Mangekyo was awakened was because those stresful times. Fits perfectly. Then, Hashirama is simply the brilliant hero. Lightful, joyful, powerful, kind, compassive, serious, modest, humble, family loving. He has eveything, including what Naruto lacks. He recognizes when someone is better than him, like Itachi. Naruto is ambitious, eager for glory, yet Hashirama is not showing off how great he is. The future episodes will expand more about him. The moment he remembered Tsunade as a child, and how he passed to her the gambling was nice, funny. Looks like Hashirama enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Given his words, he got to know Nawaki. It's clear that he loved his wife Mito, his daughter (if he had a son would be known on this story), his brother, his whole family, the village. And he treated the Uchihas with respect, as now he intends to help Sasuke the way he can. Still, he admits that he doesn't know if his story will change him or not. His modesty is so high that he is aware that he can fail, unlike Naruto. Hashirama is awesome, and even caused fear to Orochimaru. Then, Hiruzen's story serves to explain more about Itachi. He was a boy who thought as a Hokage, he was different, kind, curious, unselfish since little. Expands his greatness. To finish, I wished Minato had something more to say, to Sasuke and the others, about the Kyuubi incident, or his son, or to talk the 1st about their wives, both Uzumaki. He deserved to tell his story. I'd liked to see Sasuke's reaction to learn Naruto was the 4th Hokage's son.
