I never really saw any similarities between Italian food and Indian. Outside of their best known ingredients being new world imports (tomatoes for Italy, chillies for India). But David really has a go at trying to marry them up. Poorly.
I have to admire his enthusiasm, but that only gets him a couple of stars. The third star is for him finding middle class Indians prepared to indulge him and his ridiculous recipes.
I love Indian food and like to pick up new recipes or techniques. Same for Italian food. But instead we get a Canadian making himself at home and disappointed with the quality of Indian olive oil?
Perhaps it's his style that grates. And like parmesan on a korma, it just doesn't work for me.
