Tragic news out of Hollywood today, as actor Adan Canto has passed away at the age of 42.
The multi-talented star first became famous as a musician in his native Mexico before shifting his focus to acting.
In recent years, Canto starred in such popular American series as The Cleaning Lady and Designated Survivor.
According to Deadline, Canto died following a private battle with appendiceal cancer.
Though his life was tragically cut short, Canto compiled an impressive resumé and amassed a sizable fan base during his brief career.
He is survived by his wife, artist Stephanie Lindquist, and their two children.
Born in Coahuila, Mexico and raised primarily in Texas, Canto moved to Mexico City at 16 to try and make it as a musician.
While he experienced tremendous success as a singer and songwriter -- eventually composing music for a number of Mexican films and TV shows -- it was as...

Madrid-based Rock & Ruz – the production company of Netflix’s “Nowhere,” which has just been confirmed by Netflix as its most-viewed Spanish-language movie of all time – has pacted new projects with Italy’s Leonardo Fasoli, a head-writer of “Gomorrah” and creator of “ZeroZeroZero,” and Spain-based Alejandro Hernández, a co-writer on Alejandro Amenábar’s “While at War” and “La Fortuna.”
Targeting the key to high-end fiction success in Europe – its screenwriters – and added to “Nowhere” and an upcoming Spanish-Mexican remake of hit Korean movie “Miracle in Cell No. 7” – the freshly-announced projects mark out Rock & Ruz as a new and significant Spain-based international player.
As international markets – both theatrical and global streamers – are asking for bigger films with identifiable audiences, Rock & Ruz’s bold slate looks like a ready source of titles.

It has been 25 years since Keri Russell graced the small screen in the iconic role of Felicity Porter.
Felicity, the J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves-produced college drama, was a critical darling of The WB, becoming a phenomenon well before "the big chop" controversy and often topping the list of young adult classics to this very day.
The series amassed 84 episodes over four seasons, and it was nominated for 38 awards, including a Golden Globe Best Actress nod for Keri Russell.
The series remains impactful, even two and a half decades later. And it's primarily due to the allure of the cast, many of whom are still going strong in their careers all these years later.
So, where is the cast of Felicity now? Check it out!

Hugh Jackman and Oscar-winner Kate Winslet were convinced to star in a very experimental film. Their star-power was used to attract other A-List stars to a project they’d later regret being in.

In 2013, a roster of A-list stars were seen in the comedy film Movie 43. Many directors contributed to the project, including Dumb and Dumber filmmaker Peter Farrelly. The film had several storylines focusing on actors caught in ludicrous and raunchy situations. Apart from Winslet and Jackman, Halle Berry, Emma Stone, and Gerard Butler were just a few of the stars that made an appearance.
Producer Charlie Wessler and Farrelly conceived of the project after seeing another sketch comedy movie.
“So you wanna know how this crazy movie came about? There was this movie that came out called Kentucky Fried Movie.

It lasted only one season, but fans still mourn the demise of the sci-fi/western Firefly. As much as we love watching (and rewatching) the series, sometimes it's not enough.
Are you longing for a little more Captain Tight Pants? Want to see Zoe quietly kick some adversary's butt? Wishing you could revisit the Hero of Canton?
Well, we can't bring back Firefly -- oh, how we wish we could! -- but we can tell you where you can tune in to see the cast now.
If you can't get enough of the crew of the Serenity, read on to find out where you can see them now.
Ron Glass - Shepherd Derrial Book
Shepherd Book was the preacher with a cryptic past who boards the Serenity and befriends its crew. We loved Book's warmth and acceptance of his other crew members while still being able to hold onto his faith.

Cody Longo (aka Cody Anthony) died of “chronic ethanol abuse” – more commonly referred to as alcohol abuse – according to a medical examiner’s report obtained by TMZ.
The actor was best known for his role as Nicholas Almain on NBC’s daytime drama Days of Our Lives and also as Eddie Duran in Hollywood Heights. He was 34.
Longo was found dead in February at his home in Austin, according to TMZ. His wife, Stephanie Clark, became concerned that she couldn’t reach him while working at a local dance studio and asked police to do a welfare check. He was found dead in bed when officers arrived, TMZ reported.

Milo Ventimiglia returns to the small screen with his first post-This Is Us TV role next month, and it looks very similar to some of ABC's past efforts.
The Company You Keep touches down on ABC on Sunday, February 19, at 10 p.m.
"A night of passion leads to love between con man Charlie and undercover CIA officer Emma, who are unknowingly on a collision course professionally," the logline reads.
"While Charlie ramps up the family business so he can get out for good, Emma's closing in on the vengeful criminal who holds Charlie's family debts in hand – forcing them to reckon with the lies they've told so they can save themselves and their families from disastrous consequences."
It's a compelling hook, but the teaser trailer doesn't do the best job of showcasing the plot ABC shared.

Not too many series make it to five seasons and those that do often feel like they've run out of gas by the time they get there. It's incredibly rare for a show's final season to be its best and yet, that's somehow the case with "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spinoff, "Angel." After a strong, but largely episodic freshman outing, the series evolved into a truly great show in its 2nd and 3rd seasons, expanding on Angel's own mythology and exploring the complexities of what it means to fight an unwinnable battle. Things fell apart with season 4, which, despite having its moments, was far too serialized for its own good and also suffered from creatives whose focus was majorly split.
"Angel" is all about redemption, so what better season could there be than the one in which the show redeems itself? Thanks to a major paradigm shift, the spinoff returned revitalized for its fifth season,...

Mireille Enos is returning to AMC.
Deadline is reporting that the star who headlined The Killing for the cabler has joined the cast of Straight Man.
The series keeps Bob Odenkirk in the AMC family following his role as Saul Goodman in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
"Straight Man is a mid-life crisis tale set at Railton College, told in the first person by William Henry Devereaux, Jr. (Odenkirk), the unlikely chairman of the English department in a badly underfunded college in the Pennsylvania rust belt," reads the cabler's official description.
“We could not be more thrilled to have Mireille on board to play Lily,” co-showrunners Aaron Zelman (Damages) and Paul Lieberstein (The Office) said in a statement.
“She brings with her a steamer trunk full of dramatic chops, an unflinching eagerness to explore character, and a megawatt smile that absolutely lights up every Zoom. She’s a delight.

Through 18 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, there have been plenty of changes.
Some of the biggest changes come from the cast, as any show that has been on as long as Grey's has surely seen plenty of cast exits.
Luckily, the cast that departed early in the series (or even more recently) can still be seen in other projects. So where are they now?
Isaiah Washington -- Dr. Preston Burke
Isaiah Washington portrayed Dr. Preston Burke for the first three seasons of Grey's Anatomy.

He's also appeared in shows such as Blue Bloods, Bull, Law & Order: LA, and was recurring during Survivor's Remorse Season 4.

Sold internationally by Film Factory, “Prison 77” will be released in Spanish theaters by Buena Vista International on Sept. 23, the second Friday of Spain’s San Sebastian Festival, which begs the question as to whether it will feature at the event.
In it, Manuel, a young accountant, played by Miguel Herrán, is sent to Barcelona’s legendary Modelo penitentiary pending trial for embezzlement in 1977. The teaser trailer is straight to the point in several ways.

Though Marvel has a solid track record of spotting early talent, Kate Herron admits that her selection to direct and EP the first season of “Loki” surprised even her. “I knew I was a wild card,” says Herron. “I knew I wasn’t going to be the most experienced person in the room, but I could be the most passionate. I got my agents to call them every day until Marvel was finally like, ‘Fine, bring her in.’ I just tried to give them a big download of my brain and hoped they would be into it. And they were, and I’m forever grateful to them, because it has changed my life.”
In addition to her passion, what Herron had going for her was an impressive group of short films that showed her unique style and voice. The films, which did well on the festival circuit, helped her secure her first TV directing gigs,...

James Vaughan’s feature debut touches on Australian history and colonialism in an admirable cinematic experiment
Australian writer-director James Vaughan’s debut feature is a strange exercise in tone and atmosphere. For sure, there are characters who wander around and do stuff – but almost nothing of consequence happens. This film is almost aggressively deadpan and oblique, to a degree that’s almost admirable so long as you feel it’s worth spending 82 minutes of your time watching a cinematic experiment. As one of the characters, a videographer in his 20s named Ray (Fergus Wilson), says about his work: “It’s all real, unless none of it is. It’s all smoke and mirrors.” Indeed, Smoke and Mirrors would be just as good a title, and about as randomly appropriate as the generic title it has already.

After years of trying to get a film adaptation of Sandman made, creator Neil Gaiman is set to produce a series adaptation of his classic comic for Netflix! David Goyer is also set to produce the series alongside Gaiman, and Allan Heinberg is set to write the show and serve as showrunner.

“Katie Says Goodbye” is a drama that examines how a patriarchal society relegates economically disadvantaged women into sex work and then punishes them for taking on such work to survive. “Katie Says Goodbye” is also the latest in a long line of dramas in which male writers and directors serve up the physical and psychological destruction of women for the delectation of an audience.
Which version of the film each viewer sees will be a subjective choice, of course, but the fact that the lead character is so utterly guileless and innocent and kindhearted — she’s essentially a smiley face with a “Kick Me” sign taped to her back — makes Katie less a victim of the world and more a victim of first time writer-director Wayne Roberts.
