Good history game
TK-12279 February 2023
Before writing review, I reveal that I am still a beginner who has only played 100 hours.

It is a game that embodies World War2. If you are interested in history, you can have fun watching hysterical events and historical figures.

But the big drawback is that you have to buy a DLC to have such complete fun. The original game have only national focus tree of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America, French Third Republic, Second Polish Republic( free DLC), Nazi Germany, Empire of Japan, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and other need to purchase DLC.

Also, it's really hard when you just start. Ther is a tutorial, but it is unfriendly, so I have no choice but to learn it be playing continuously.

Greatest WWII Strategy Game Of All Time
MrPaull03243 June 2024
This is hands down my all-time favorite strategy game, thanks in no small part to me being a big World War II buff and a fan of strategy games. I've literally have spent hundreds of hours playing it, and I still find it fun today.

You can begin your campaign from either 1936 or 1939. You'll have nearly 200 countries to choose from, including the major powers at the time: Nazi Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, the Empire of Japan, and the Third French Republic.

The potential for creating your own alternate history within this titanic conflict is practically infinite. Want to conquer the UK before invading Russia as Nazi Germany and ultimately win the war? Go right ahead. Turn America into a fascist dictatorship and join the Axis? Not a problem. Start World War III as Russia and go to war against the Allies once the Axis are out of the picture? Nothings stopping you.

You can eventually command a military sizing in the millions with support from tanks, aircraft, artillery, naval vessels, and, with sufficient research, even nuclear weapons. To keep your war industry up and running, you'll construct factories, refineries, roads, railroads, and dockyards. You can organize your divisions into armies or entire army groups under the command of your hand-picked generals and field marshals. You'll even be able to design your own divisions from the ground up and decide what weapons or equipment they'll be issued.

You can research new weapons, vehicles, tactics, industrial and research methods, and others to improve your performance against your enemies. You can also implement different doctrines for each branch military branches that differ in the bonuses they provide. You'll also have the option of choosing progressive paths called focus trees that may be based on real historical events and situations or be completely alternative historical possibilities that vary in the benefits they give.

You can spend political points on vital decisions, such as economic policies, war plans, justifying war goals, fighting rival political parties and others. You'll also spend them to appoint government officials, joint chiefs of staff, employ production companies, etc. You must spend them carefully to achieve optimum efficiency in your strategic goals.

Hearts of Iron IV is a masterpiece game, and the fact there are still updates and DLCs being released for it speaks volumes of its success. Plus, the bugs and glitches are at a minimum, so you can expect clean, unimpeded gameplay. There is a lot to learn, and it takes time to get used to the game's features, but it's worth it. Try it today if you're into strategy games and World War II.

Completly free of bugs

Hearts of iron 4 is an amazing game that clearly has amazing AI and almost no bugs to be found. It wont even do things like if you land a paratrooper division into Paris, you wont immediately take France as a whole. Also the modding community is absolutely wonderful and wont do things like make Angela Merkel the leader of Nazi Germany

Great for a higher level gamer... but not for me
chrism25-919-5497764 April 2020
I bought this game because I have friends who love it and I am a huge fan of World War II history. This game is an excellent concept and has features that allow you to simulate the war and fight it in your own way. However, my experience in PC strategy games is limited to very simple games and the total war series. This game was completely over my head. Just learning how to play this game felt like a job and required several hours, and even then I didn't really know what was going on. I'm sure this game is great for some people, but I don't have the time, desire, or patience to really appreciate it. To me, video games are supposed to be a pleasurable escape from reality and a cathartic experience in general. This game just felt stressful and it was "work" rather than fun. I think I'm going to stick to my simpler games.

I fell like the game was made for me, just perfect! The developers were really thinking about what they are doing. Really many options to organise armies. You have possibilities to change units in divisions really precisely so they fit your battle plans. This game has really many options to play. It has its difficulties, but that is what makes fun!

Worst game ever
drogon-9646831 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Stupid game all it does is to promote its homeland and every new dlc makes the game buggier and more stupid The peace conference system is the worst so far! Like the country you are at war with can have the lands you occupied from a third party country you are mutually at war with.

And the AI is so dumb you have to drop all the frontline features and do all the work by yourself All these aside there are sources in this game that most of the countries don't obtain and can't obtain even until the end of the game except for their beloved UK! For example they have more than 300 hundred rubber while if the others spend the whole game making them it won't get past 100 while that country has all this much from the very beginning!

Don't waste your time on this garbage.
