The Writer, Stirling Silliphant (2006)

This short tribute to Stirling Silliphant can be found on the releases of both THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE and THE TOWERING INFERNO, two films that the Oscar-winner wrote. Friends are interviewed about Silliphant and the type of writer he was, which was a busy one as he would often work on three different items at one time while preparing other things. We learn about his early TV work like Route 66 and then move onto his movies including IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT and of course the two films for Irwin Allen. Fans of the writer are certainly going to enjoy watching this featurette, which has some very good stories with the writer's friends as they talk about what made him so special. The documentary doesn't go into great details about anything since it's rather short at just 9-minutes but it's certainly a nice introduction to the man and some of his movies.
