Is This What Phil Harris Was Singing About?

Ah, the joys of that first breakfast cooked by your wife! Salted grapefruit, pancakes you break your tooth on, and coffee you can't drink, so you use it to kill houseplants! But she's so proud of her efforts that you choke down every bite.... or throw it out the window to wreck your neighbor's car.

I'm sure they were making comedies like this back when a satire was a stone you threw at your neighbor, or maybe it was the morning toast. So what makes this a good comedy is the gags on offer, and they're pretty good, especially once an elderly relative is showing up expecting her to be a good cook. Monty Banks' co-star, Ena Gregory, gets more to do than usual, and she's particularly good in the reaction shots.

By the way, when I was a kid, my elderly relatives put salt on their grapefruit. Deliberately.
