David Leitch has had ups and downs since co-directing John Wick a decade ago. While he's always been an incredibly talented action filmmaker, courtesy of his background as a stunt performer and coordinator, his apparent passion for mixing action and comedy hasn't always served him well. Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train both shortchange the action for comedy that's often just as likely to cause groans as laughter, but with The Fall Guy, Leitch has found the perfect balance of humor, hits, and heart. Maybe that's because The Fall Guy is a movie about a stuntman, maybe not. Either way, there's a sense of joy and love for filmmaking broadly and the people who make movie magic possible in The Fall Guy that invites viewers to...

Based on the television show of the same name that ran for five seasons from 1981-86 and starred Lee Majors and Heather Thomas, director David Leitch’s new film, The Fall Guy, employs the same combination of action and sexual tension that fueled the show (albeit not necessarily between the two main characters). This approach makes for an entertaining and somewhat nostalgic aura around a film that, if approached a different way, could have resulted in another disappointing cinematic adaptation of a popular television property.

Right from the beginning, the big-screen outings of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool have been… well, distinctly Deadpoolian affairs. In his 2016 debut feature, he made a joke about fondling Wolverine’s nether-regions before laying gory waste to a car full of goons. In 2019’s Deadpool 2, he finally assembled the long-rumoured X-Force team – before thrusting them into a skydiving mission that killed them all off instantly. Now, he’s changing things up once again for his third outing – teaming up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine for a reality-breaking adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And despite the dual-headline status of title Deadpool & Wolverine, make no mistake – tonally, this is Deadpool through and through.
“It feels like the most Deadpool movie in the history of Deadpool,” Ryan Reynolds promises Empire in the world-exclusive Deadpool & Wolverine issue. What that means remains to be seen, although if we were to put money on it,...

David Leitch Says He Pitched Brad Pitt As Cable & ‘Deadpool’ Meetings Were Initially About ‘X-Force’
Ever since co-directing the “John Wick” franchise in 2014 and then splitting off on his own from partner Chad Stahelski, filmmaker David Leitch has been one of the most in-demand action directors on the planet. Almost taking the most recent “Jurassic World” reboot before rethinking it ultimately, since ‘John Wick 1,’ Leitch has directed a “Fast And Furious” spin-off, “Atomic Blonde,” “Bullet Train,” “Deadpool 2,” and his upcoming film “The Fall Guy” which opens tomorrow and stars Ryan Reynolds and Emily Blunt.

“The Fall Guy” (Universal) opens in the U.S./Canada Friday — one of the most prestigious spots on the movie release calendar. Since “Iron Man” in 2008, and since Disney initiated the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2012, the first weekend in May has marked the start of the summer movie season.
When MCU “Deadpool & Wolverine” left this date in favor of July 26, Universal grabbed it — and the expectations that come with it. As a result, there’s an unusually wide range of estimates for the domestic opening weekend: We hear everything from the high 20s to over $50 million, with consensus closer to $35 million or a bit more.
An opening weekend of $35 million-$40 million would be a big improvement over a disastrous April (where “Civil War” was the sole film to debut over $25 million), but that would be only the fifth-best opening of 2024. Historically, this date tops any opening gross and usually...

Deadpool & Wolverine has garnered anticipation ever since Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman released an announcement video where Reynolds would ask a seemingly apathetic Jackman if he’d like to appear in the third Deadpool movie as Wolverine. The two popular X-Men characters would famously have a love/hate relationship in the comic world, and previous Deadpool entries would only feature fourth wall-breaking jabs at each other both inside and outside of the movies. Now that they’re officially capitalizing on their bromance with a multiverse plot which opens up possibilities for more cameos, many fans have been theorizing about who could possibly appear in the film.
The movie is centering on this mismatched partnership, but one person who is disappointed that they didn’t get invited back is Josh Brolin. Brolin would deliver a one-two punch to the Marvel cinematic world by portraying both Thanos and Cable in 2018 for...

Deadpool & Wolverine hype has been on the horizon since the announcement of the movie (even before the title announcement). The biggest surprise for fans has to be Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine, despite the death of his character in the 2017 movie Logan. But convincing Jackman was not enough, Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy wanted a lot more for the movie.

Josh Brolin's Cable was introduced in Deadpool 2, and after initially serving as an antagonist for Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), the time-travelling warrior joined forces with the Merc With a Mouth and his allies.
It was Cable's future tech that allowed Deadpool to travel back in time and prevent Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) and the members of X-Force from being killed, so it was generally assumed that the character would return when Marvel Studios announced that a third movie was in development.
Though there is always a chance Cable - and Zazie Beetz's Domino - will appear in Deadpool and Wolverine, their returns have not been reported on by the trades or the various online scoopers who accurately leaked a lot of the other cameos.
While speaking to Brolin about the second season of Prime Video's Outer Range, The Playlist joked that since he's listed as part of Deadpool and Wolverine's cast on IMDb,...

One of the biggest upcoming MCU releases is most certainly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The movie marks several big things. It’s Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU and also the only MCU movie to be released in 2024, in the hopes of restoring at least some of the faith that the fans of the franchise lost in the last several years due to a string of several poorly received movies.
The recently released trailer also confirmed that several old faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises are going to be making a return, a few faces were however notably missing, Angel Dust, Cable, and Domino.
Most of the fans were aware that Gina Carano likely won’t be reprising her role as the actress was let go due to “offensive” posts made on social media after which she was promptly fired by Disney. But fans were still holding...

One of the most anticipated MCU releases is undoubtedly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ This movie marks several significant milestones—it’s Deadpool’s first step into the MCU and the sole MCU film slated for release in 2024. The aim is to regain some of the faith lost by fans in recent years due to a string of poorly received movies.
The recently unveiled trailer also confirmed the return of several familiar faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises. However, notable absences include Angel Dust, Cable, and Domino.
Many fans anticipated that Gina Carano wouldn’t return to her role, as she was fired following “offensive” social media posts, leading to her swift termination by Disney. Despite this, fans clung to hope for Domino and Cable’s return, especially after their expanded roles were hinted at in ‘Deadpool 2.’

Producer Kelly McCormick isn’t prone to counting chickens before they hatch, especially when they come in the form of $125 million blockbusters built around the long-gestating resurrection of some classic TV IP. But, given the critical affection already poured on her latest, “The Fall Guy,” and the apparent readiness of the moviegoing public to see a tentpole that truly has it all (plus stunts so massive they are already literal world record-breakers), it might be time for McCormick to start thinking “franchise potential” right now.
As co-founder of the production and action design company 87North — along with her husband, “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch — McCormick is a major player in the action space. Man, does she have fun with it. She’s produced everything from “Bullet Train” and “Atomic Blonde” to “Nobody,” along with executive producing “Deadpool 2” and “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.”

As Ryan Reynolds’ highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine prepares to hit the theatres, fans can expect the nostalgic return of Hugh Jackman as the clawed mutant. But sadly, one actor who previously appeared in Deadpool 2, and was expected to be a part of the upcoming sequel, has confirmed his absence.

Ryan Reynolds has given his fans just what they seek from him through every single one of his performances. This especially includes his anti-hero Deadpool, which has even given fans the delight of seeing their favorite actor immaculately fight the most brutal and scariest villains from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, always standing his ground no matter how barbarous they were.

But while those menacing villains don’t seem to be able to terrify him, there’s something else that managed to do that part. And, surprisingly enough, this something else actually included Reynolds performing in front of his Korean fans while promoting the sequel to his 2016 masterpiece film of the beloved anti-hero six years ago, even though he was beyond “scared” to do it!

Despite David Leitch’s background as a stunt actor and coordinator, not to mention the fact that his co-directorial debut, John Wick, set a bar for hard-hitting action, there’s been a certain weightlessness to every film he’s made since his sophomore film, Atomic Blonde. From Deadpool 2 to Bullet Train, they all glide along as briskly and smoothly as, well, a bullet train. They’re sleek, sure, but they’re also free of any heft or tactile quality.
The Fall Guy, then, is a modest improvement, in that there’s at least a sense of physicality to some of its action sequences, though that’s to be expected: As this is a film about the making of a movie, so much of the action that we’re watching has yet to be beefed up by chaotic editing and CGI noise. And thanks to magnetic performances by Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt,...

Michael Douglas is in terrific form as Benjamin Franklin in Apple TV’s new historical limited series “Franklin” but he isn’t the only actor to emerge with awards whispers whizzing through the air. Veteran actor Eddie Marsan features in a key supporting role as John Adams and delivers one of the finest performances of his career while also shining a new light onto a man that many actors have depicted before.
The limited series follows Franklin’s eight years in France as he tried to persuade King Louis XVI (Tom Pezier) to join the colonies’ cause and aid them in the American Revolutionary War. The scenes between Douglas and Marsan are nothing short of spectacular and Marsan nails his performance as Adams, as noted by critics.

Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling created box office history with their respective movies last year. Oppenheimer and Barbie not only clashed at the theatres, but both were successful. Emily and Ryan are two of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood, and they rekindled their Barbenheimer banter on the 96th Academy Awards stage last month. Although Blunt did not take home the golden statuette, her team ruled the night with seven wins, including Best Picture. Meanwhile, Ryan’s Barbie won the box office war last year.

When the highly-anticipated blockbuster superhero film “Deadpool & Wolverine” slashes its way into theatres this July, fans can expect to see the nostalgic return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and probably a whole ton of cameos, if the rumors and meta trailer jokes are any indication. However, as already reported, one character that viewers may have wanted to see but sadly won’t be in the anticipated blockbuster is Josh Brolin’s Cable, who previously appeared in “Deadpool 2.”
Brolin’s absence from the film is already known; he was never reported as part of the film, and there’s no trace of him in any of the recent trailers; he even joked that he had beef with “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds.

Based on the upcoming reboot of the 80’s classic TV series, The Fall Guy Stuntacular is a limited running show at the popular movie theme park. And as if that wasn’t enough, Ryan Gosling, star of the new film was on hand to treat the invited audience to the first look at the stunts and the stunt men and women who make it all possible. Plot: After being gravely injured, a stuntman named Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) tries to win back his ex, a movie director named Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), by finding the star of her mega-budget action movie, who’s gone missing after falling in with a dangerous crowd.

L to R: Ryan Gosling is Colt Seavers and Emily Blunt is Judy Moreno in The Fall Guy, directed by David Leitch © Universal Studios. All Rights Reserved. The Fall Guy is generating some serious hype! Think about it: a huge cast, a director who knows how to deliver explosive action, and those early reviews are fantastic. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt – both Oscar nominees – are headlining this one. And with David Leitch behind the camera…well, let’s just say the guy who made Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train knows how to keep an audience on the edge of their seats. This movie has all the ingredients for a hit. But even a great director needs a stellar cast, and Leitch certainly has that in Gosling and Blunt. He raves about their talent and on-screen chemistry. Denis Villeneuve’s movie, “Dune: Part Two,” released in 2024, is a big success. It’s a sci-fi film based on Frank Herbert’s book, “Dune.” Villeneuve directed and produced it, and he also helped write the screenplay with Jon Spaihts. It's no secret that the first third of 2024 has been at best uneven as far as the box office goes. Ticket sales are lagging way behind this same point in 2023, in no small part thanks to movies like "Abigail" and "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" underperforming on the same weekend. Thankfully, the summer movie season is on the horizon and Hollywood, as well as theater owners, will hinge their hopes on a varied slate being able to sell an outsized number of tickets. That all begins next weekend with the release of Universal's "The Fall Guy." The question is, can Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt strike gold in the summer season once again after last year's Barbenheimer phenomenon?
"The Fall Guy" will be the first blockbuster to hit theaters in May, which typically ushers in the summer for Hollywood. Currently, the big-budget action/comedy is looking at an opening weekend in the $40 million range,...

In March 2019, Marvel Studios regained the film rights to X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool after Disney’s acquisition of Fox for $71.3 billion.
These characters are planned to be integrated into the MCU. In October 2020, the ‘X-Men’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ films were rebranded as “Marvel Legacy films” on Disney+. Notably, Patrick Stewart already reprised his role as an alternate Professor X in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and Kelsey Grammer returned as Beast in ‘The Marvels’. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ a sequel to ‘Deadpool 2,’ will bring Deadpool and Wolverine, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, respectively, into the MCU continuity.
We know that the ‘X-Men’ reboot project has been in talks for quite some time now, but it took the success of ‘X-Men ’97’ to really kick-start things. Seeing how popular the mutants are with the current Disney audience, I believe that work has gotten more serious in the last few months,...

In a scene early in The Fall Guy, a nameless crewmember buckles Ryan Gosling’s seat belt as his character is about to attempt a cannon roll, a classic car stunt, on the set of a fictional science fiction movie called Metal Storm. Gosling plays Hollywood stuntman Colt Seavers, who is reluctantly returning to the film business after an injury, but in many ways the real star of the scene is the background actor buckling him in, Logan Holladay. Though his screen time lasts only a few moments, Holladay was the real-life stunt driver for Gosling — the one who actually steered a Jeep Grand Cherokee down a Sydney beach and rolled it eight and a half times on the sand, breaking the Guinness world record of seven rolls set by Adam Kirley, the driver of James Bond’s Aston Martin in 2006’s Casino Royale.

The comic book community was almost astonished when Ryan Reynolds first disclosed on social media that Hugh Jackman would be playing Wolverine in Shawn Levy’s Deadpool 3. Though it was thought unlikely following Logan’s conclusion, there was discussion about Jackman possibly reprising his iconic role as Wolverine. It was not a huge deal either if he would not have returned, because that movie’s ending exceeded all expectations.

Deadpool 3, on the other hand, is the perfect movie for reinvigorating Jackman’s character without interfering with the 20th Century Fox X-Men universe. Hugh Jackman’s return to the MCU has been an almost fantastical thing. Putting his adamantium claws back on, fans could not be more excited for his return as Wolverine in Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine. It is something that fans have been begging for since he left the claws behind in 2017’s Logan.

While his return could not come at a better time, with the MCU entering the world of mutants, many fans have wondered how the actor decided to come back. While some believe it to be Reynolds who did the convincing, the truth may be a little further from it.

The anticipation of the film has skyrocketed to a whole new level.

One of the highlights from the trailer was the return of Leslie Uggams’ Blind Al and her hilarious banter about cocaine with Deadpool. Uggams’ has had a great start to 2024 already with her recurring role as Betty Pearson in Amazon’s Fallout, which has been received very well by audiences.

During the last decade, much has been discussed about the stunt department and how the fearless, talented individuals who work in this area deserve more recognition in the film industry. From various movements to creating the respective category in awards ceremonies – unfortunately, the Oscars remain stubborn – to an unmistakable shift in the action genre – nowadays, it’s almost mandatory for an action flick to have an oner – stuntmen and stuntwomen have been increasingly valued with each passing year, so it would be expected that a movie paid them the proper tribute. With one of the most influential voices from the stunt world at the helm, David Leitch (Deadpool 2), The Fall Guy is a true love letter to a unit often overlooked by the general audience. In a mix of mystery, love, and action, Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling), a stunt double, returns to work after an incident that almost ended his career.

If you're not examining every single new detail in the freshly released "Deadpool & Wolverine" trailer, then can you really call yourself a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The movie is bringing the raunchy Merc with a Mouth into the MCU for the first time, and Ryan Reynolds gets to keep his R-rated naughtiness, marking a major first for Marvel Studios. Joining him is Hugh Jackman, reprising his beloved role as Wolverine for the first time since the character met his moving fate in "Logan," though it might be a version of Wolverine we've never met before. But there are bound to be many more mutants and Marvel characters joining in the fun as well.
However, no matter how big of a Marvel movie fan you might be, unless you're also a Marvel Comics fan, there's a brilliant Easter egg you possibly missed.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are two pretty popular names in the film industry. Having done some of the most successful movies in the last two decades, both actors have an amazing folio to their credit. And of course, playing two of the most beloved superheroes from Marvel Comics has only added to their storied career.

When Hugh Jackman first joined the world of superheroes, he was a relatively unknown face. X-Men (2000) was his debut movie, which catapulted him to over night success. Ryan Reynolds on the other hand had been part of some pretty successful projects by the Deadpool (2016) graced our screens. The bickering duo of Marvel are at it again: The trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine dropped today, and finds Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine doing what they do best.
“Hi peanut,” Deadpool says to a drowning-his-sorrows Wolverine. “I’m going to need you to come with me right now.” The trailer contains enough quips, fights, insults and R-rated verbiage to satisfy a universe, Marvel or otherwise.
Set to the tune of Madonna’s “Like A Prayer,” the new trailer for the Deadpool threequel was shared by Reynolds on social media this morning, a day after he did the same for a teaser.
The new movie following – by six years – Deadpool 2.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to arrive in theaters on July 26. Shawn Levy is the film director, with Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, Reynolds, and Levy credited as co-writers.
Hugh Jackman reprises his role of Wolverine in the Marvel film.

It’s Monday, and the best thing that could happen is the fresh ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ trailer. It came out three months ahead of the movie’s release, and honestly, I’ve never been this excited about an MCU flick.
The trailer has Wade trying to get Wolverine on board to help him save their universe. Lots of cool action and laughs. Plus, we get to see Dogpool, Cassandra Nova, and Blind Al trying to persuade Deadpool to do something wild in the MCU’s first R-rated film.

For Ryan Reynolds, the latest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer is a chance for audiences to see two marquee characters together, a pairing that “took seven years and a lot of begging” to get Hugh Jackman to return as Wolverine.
Ahead of the new trailer (watch below), Reynolds shared the post-credits scene from Deadpool 2 (2018), which showed Deadpool traveling through time to “clean up the timelines” — which included rectifying some mistakes from Reynolds’ own filmography. Among them was X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), which starred Jackman and featured Reynolds as Wade Wilson. The film was widely panned, in particular for a climax that included Wade Wilson with his mouth sewn shut — a particularly affront to comic book fans given that Wilson is known for being such a talkative character.

It’s Monday and the just about the only thing that can make it better is the newest ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ trailer. The latest movie showcase arrived 3 months ahead of the movie’s release and, I gotta say, I’ve never been this hyped about an MCU movie.
The trailer showcased Wade trying to recruit Wolverine to fight alongside him as he tries to save his universe. There are plenty of impressive action scenes and plenty of humor. Dogpool, the first full view of Cassandra Nova and Blind Al trying to talk Deadpool into using cocaine in MCU’s first R-rated movie.
You can check out the full trailer below:
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ will see Deadpool recruited by the Tva to stop a reality-shattering event (or villain), and obviously, Wade will have to recruit Wolverine to help him. The trailer is notable because it references X-Men, acknowledging them within the mainline MCU.

Marvel’s favorite frenemies are back in the second trailer for the hotly anticipated “Deadpool and Wolverine” — the third installment in the “Deadpool” series of films and the first set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
