Human Weakness
Hitchcoc16 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The marriage begins to show signs of stress. Victoria is actually quite wise to the affairs of state. It is learned that thousands of soldiers died in the Khyber Pass, in an ambush by locals. Of course, they should never have been there, but the sun never set on the British Empire. Victoria sees this as a human tragedy where the politicians are more concerned with image and weakness. Meanwhile, Albert is a progressive, embracing the science and mathematics of the time. He admires a woman scientist/mathematician and Victoria embarrasses herself with her lack of knowledge of "pi." She wonders why so much attention is paid to kind of dessert. She becomes jealous of this woman. Meanwhile, Victoria goes to see her dear friend Lord Melbourne, whom she once loved, despite his station. She would know that this would anger Albert and the rest of the castle entourage, not to mention Peele. Also, she has some news that doesn't make her very happy. A bit of comic relief is added when a boy gets into the castle and begins pilfering food and other items. We also have the return of the cook, extorted into leaving his current post. Not happily, by the way.

The Green-Eyed Monster

Warning: Spoilers
Not as good as the season premiere, but the show is still fairly solid.

It can't be so dominant by Victoria though. We get our scenes with the kitchen staff, but that's about it.

There were a lot of unique personalities at this time and we could benefit by seeing their development. That requires screen time though.
