This is a solid action packed thriller style comedy with many twists. It's silly at times but it works! Has that 90's vibe/feel to it. A must watch

I saw worse, much worse.

I can't say I was bored throughout the whole movie so that's already a good point but Danger One won't make it in cinematographic history either. The plot is what it is, nothing too serious. The acting wasn't bad so that's also a positive thing to mention. The question is whould I watch Danger One again in the future? Probably not as there are just way much better movies to watch or rewatch nowadays, but it's a worth a watch if you need to kill time.
A low budget mess of a film
mfouch-7512924 February 2019
This movie was barely watchable. I cannot understand the nine and ten star reviews for such a debacle of a movie. A major disappointment.
It seemed dubbed throughout. The dialogue sounded as if it was done in a sound booth and transposed into the scenes. Very annoying. The attempts at dark humor were sophomoric at best. If I was 11 years old I might have enjoyed it.
I cannot recommend this film.
LEAD ACTORS MAKE THE MOVIE
armineaction19 September 2018
Story isn't particularly original but the performances are what sell this action comedy/thriller, most notably Tom Everett Scott's and James Jurdi's. Their connection and dynamic from the first scene to the last is what kept me invested in this otherwise entertaining but formulaic piece. Some good action scenes sprinkled throughout, but Scott and Jurdi's chemistry and rapport is what elevated this above the norm.

This movie is pretty rad. It's not at all what I expected, It was super campy, b-movie, type stuff, but it worked really probably in part to veteran character actors like o'Hare amongst others. All the actors did a great job, and it's fun to see these actors in this type of role. It really served them well. The budget on this movie is probably pretty much nonexistent so you'll have to forgive it in some parts, but I did not fall short on entertainment or laughs. I was really surprised by it. Maybe I appreciate movies like this more than other people but it definitely worked for me.
Awful Movie

The only explanation that I have for the rave reviews on this movie, is that I suspect that the reviewers are friends and family of the people involved in this film. The movie is sheer idiocy, and a waste of time. Just stupid.
Often exciting, very violent, sometimes funny
vchimpanzee23 April 2023
This was too dark and serious to actually be a comedy. Wasn't it? Well, at times it became clear we were supposed to be laughing at the comical situations resulting from these greedy people wanting that money that wasn't theirs, and at the consequences of their often violent actions. In case we didn't know, the music made it clear. Yes, technically this was an adventure movie, but as dark as it was, comedy was a part of it.
Was I supposed to be rooting for the people wanting to steal the money? If so, which ones? There were a lot of them, fighting against each other. But my feeling was that I was supposed to be rooting for Eric, the only one with a conscience. In some movies, you want the bad guys to get away with it, but I'm not sure that was supposed to be the case here. Even if you root for the bad guys, here there are bad guys (okay, one may have been female), worse guys (okay, one was female), and even worse guys (maybe just one). Clearly you don't want the worst guys to win.
The focus, however, was on just the first group who were basically good people. The movie had more potential with the introduction of multiple groups wanting to get their hands on the millions, but didn't fully utilize this. And the truth is there was one other good guy besides the one with a conscience. I don't think he had a hidden agenda but we wanted him not to succeed because then all the other good guys would get in trouble.
Like him or not, Tom Everett Scott did a good job. Some villains you love to hate. I can't say I did. And he's not a villain but a regular guy who is tempted and feels entitled. He communicates the idea that it's okay to do what he is doing.
But Denis O'Hare, the real villain, really stood out. What a crazy character! And no conscience. He will commit whatever violent act is necessary to get what he wants. And yet there is something likable about this man. Plus he is the only one with good taste in music. Classical is somewhat more sophisticated than what I want, but the rap and hard rock that dominated was not what I would want to hear.
James Jurdi had the conscience and also did a good job, but he just couldn't quite stand up to all the opposition. He tried.
Michael O'Neill was tough and determined as the cop who seemed to be doing everything morally right. Maybe kind of flat compared to others, but a solid presence. The viewer just hopes he won't get what he wants so our heroes won't go to jail or anything.
And Angélica Celaya was one of the tough females who may or may not have been on the side of right. But she's had a hard life. Can you blame her if she gives in?
Some interesting editing techniques added to the excitement. To communicate that we had traveled far, a few very brief shots of obviously different locations were shown at one point. Also, the driver of the ambulance is shown shifting gears as part of a quick sequence of different shots.
This is not for families. It was obvious many bad words had been left out. The first time I saw this the signal kept going out and I had to give up. Either conditions were better this time or the antenna was, but the problems were the same. Actually, this time they weren't as it was just the sound and not the picture that had problems. And while this was quite bloody, somehow the worst of it was blurry.
I've seen better, but this is probably worthwhile.

What is up with the foley's spaghetti western vibe?
Things that mostly succeed include costume, makeup, props and lighting.
The rest pretty well catapulted it into the realm of movies I enjoy, which I consider a genre unto itself.
At around 1:22:40 I wish he'd shot the gun in the foreground.
Waste of time
hubkarp-1531419 March 2020
Elements of the plot that attempt to keep the movie going for the first hour are immature and crude. It isn't suitable for adults have nothing to laugh at. Nothing is clever or creative. The movie is a sad jumble of wasted film.
"Shallow Grave" meets "Bringing Out the Dead"
noralee-2488715 September 2018
Call 911. Steal Money. Kill 'em all. That basically sums up the fantastic action thriller "Danger One," which literally had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The film reminded me of the great "Shallow Grave," mixed in with the ambiance and manic energy of "Bringing out the Dead." Of the actors. Scott delivers a true comeback performance, O'Hare is a scene stealing baddie, and Jurdi is a solid, stoic everyman hero. Highly recommended for fans of murder and money action extravaganzas.
Good buddy action comedy
moviemaven-9886616 September 2018
Reminds me of films from another, with shades of "Lethal Weapon" and "After Hours." The buddy comedy element between Tom Everett Scott and James Jurdi is the best thing in the movie -- their rapport and chemistry makes the viewer root for them and hope they survive the night. Fun movie overall.
A COMEBACK ROLE FOR TOM EVERETT SCOTT!
mreviewer8216 September 2018
I've loved Scott ever since "That Thing You Do!" but haven't seen him in material that did him justice in years. "Danger One" finally gives him a meaty role that he was born to play, and he delivers arguably his most charismatic turn since playing Guy the drummer in the above mentioned Tom Hanks classic. It doesn't hurt that he's paired with able talent like O'Hare and Jurdi, who plays off him nicely and develops an unlikely buddy rapport. Still, this is Scott's movie, and he has long been in the background, but here he shines front and center.
A solid addition to the "find and keep dirty money" genre
taylorperry-6777618 September 2018
Every few years, a solid film comes along about a group of down on their luck innocents who get caught up in crime and mayhem when they discover, and decide to keep, dirty money. Some of the best films of this genre are "Simple Plan" and Oscar winner "No Country for Old Men," and while "Danger One" isn't quite on that level, it's still a worthy addition to the genre. What distinguishes it from its predecessors is that it has a manic touch of dark humor, likening it almost to a Shane Black or Guy Ritchie style actioner. Also upping its street cred are dynamite performances from vets like Scott (great to see him in something good) and O'Hare, as well as newbies like the subtly compelling Jurdi and the aggressive but appealing Celaya. It takes a bit for the film to move along, and a sub plot involving ICE agents with their own agenda isn't particularly gripping, but overall "Danger One" proves to be both a good time at the movies and a thinking man's action piece. Well done.
FUN FILM
cherrylee-6690626 September 2018
Went in with zero expectations but was pleasantly surprised to find a well-made and more importantly well-acted film. I enjoyed the action and the "Speed" on an ambulance feel, but what engaged me most was the dynamic between the highly underrated Scott and the quietly effective Jurdi. Their scenes and chemistry together really gelled and lifted the film up above standard everything goes wrong action thriller. Overall, it's a fun film.
Funny, Ironic, Well Pace Dark Comedy

It's a refreshing idea. EMT's find money and decide to keep it for their own reasons and all hell breaks loose.
I think the movie is well acted. Every character has motivations and you have irony and dark comedy throughout. It has well threaded, uses of action and violence that lead to many of the dark comedy moments.
It's a well done, well shot, well paced movie full of funny moments, irony and good guys and bad guys.
Highly recommended, 9 out of 10.

Warning: Spoilers
Eric (James Jurdi) is an EMT who rides with his unorthodox boss Dean (Tom Everett Scott). Eric has some financial and family issues, our protagonist, an honest man. While on a call to an accident scene caused by ICE standing by in the shadows, they discover a million dollars on the victim they are transporting. Against Eric's wishes and better judgment he reluctantly goes along with keeping and splitting the money. Who would know?
This leads to a situation where our EMT's dig themselves further and further into a hole.
This is a comedy action crime-drama. I found it entertaining and wished they had created slightly better dialogue.
Guide: F-word. Sex. No nudity.

One crazy night equals one crazy, fun movie! This movie starts fast and doesn't relent until the finish. Surprisingly insightful concerning the "what would you do?" underlying commentary, all while being darkly hilarious. The relationship between Tom Everett Scott and James Jurdi makes the movie. Their juxtaposition is fantastic! Very refreshing to watch a self contained, original story that is designed purely for the viewers enjoyment. With that said, there is excellent subtlety in regards to character development and moral introspection.
GREAT CAST ELEVATES FAMILIAR MATERIAL
julianicks22 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Essentially a variation on "A Simple Plan" with paramedics, "Danger One" offers a familiar narrative with archetype characters that we've seen before. What distinguishes it from the lot is its terrific cast, all of whom deliver brilliant performances. Scott leads the way in a role that, in a perfect world, should restore him to leading him status. He's funny, charismatic, sleazy, twisted, and sympathetic all at once -- and he plays off the effectively understated Jurdi very nicely. Jurdi plays the classic moral hero here, and he does so with restraint, subtlety, and quiet intensity. Of course a film like this wouldn't follow suit if it didn't have a great villain, and fortunately O'Hare delivers as an eccentric, opera-loving bag man who has had it with his superiors. Supporting players like Celaya and O'Neill also add to the mix. Overall, this team of able players makes an otherwise been there, done that story into not only a film worth watching but a film worth recommending as well.
