A Polanski-esque paranoia thriller in the veins of "The Tenant" or "Repulsion"

A pretty slow-moving and badly directed movie that could have been a great thriller. In a rare starring role, André Schneider delivers a magnificent portrayal of a man suffering from schizophrenia. His acting here is stunning and kept me awake, but "The Ghosts" suffers from a weak script and a director who obviously cannot decide which way to go. Apart from Schneider, the actors seem pretty lost here. Pierre Emo delivers some nudity which doesn't really seem to fit into the story, and Sophie Tellier gives a strong performance in a couple of scenes, but her character never gets a chance for a proper development. In Schneider's strongest scenes, the camera strangely focuses on other characters. "The Ghosts" does have its moments, though, and since it's hard to find, it will surely gather some following over the years, but Alas, it didn't do that much for me.
