Oddly touching

David Earl is a funny man. An underrated comedy actor who deserves his own series.

This short film is about a lonely man named Brian. He builds a robot called Charles to keep him company. They enjoy lots of robot / human horseplay together until Charles takes liberties with Brian's cabbage supply (the nearest shop is 7 miles away so this is a big deal).

Suffice to say the cabbage puts a strain on their relationship...

For some sweet and funny with your sci-fi

Surprisingly lovely. This little film gives a look into the life of Brian and his robot Charles, whom he built from odd bits about the farm. Sci-fi (building a robot) takes a bit of a back seat to the relationship between Brian and Charles. The whole thing has, for me, a little bit of that 'What we Do in the Shadows' vibe about it. It's subtle and understated, but quietly funny - and quite endearing. If you get a chance to see it, don't miss it.

a relation

Portrait of the relation between a man and his robot in the winter of 2012. Half documentary, half parable. The great aspect of Charles, reminding, not only for phsycal aspect, so many venerable people who you know. Talks, punishment, isolation like in case of a dog , the return of good robot and the enthusiasm of his master. Sweet, some absurd and seductive cinematography.
