The Best Nearly Completely Unknown and Neglected Movie Ever?
georgerprice5 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I stumbled upon this movie on the internet and could find absolutely no reviews except on a filmmakers' tech site, which was only about the incredible technical quality of the film, especially for such a low-budget, independent film. The director, Steven Fierberg, is a cinematographer, which helps to explain the film's superb visual quality, and this film was his directorial debut. The story, acting, pace, and just about everything in the film is much higher than average quality, even compared to big budget Hollywood films, so why was it not promoted and so thoroughly ignored? Could it have anything to do with the old Hollywood taboo against black male/white female relationships that don't ultimately end in tragedy or at least end before the end of the movie? Do the movie moguls still actually believe that you can't sell enough tickets in America for a movie with that kind of relationship ending happily?
