Nice character development even in Season 5
asb_deutsch4 March 2019
I wasn't familiar with the Gangs, but I still loved the direction of Rob Bailey. He has directed previous seasons also and I gave high scores for A Dark Knight: One Bad Day (2018) and A Dark Knight: Stop Hitting Yourself (2017). I though the would show the main antagonist but hats off to Bailey again - Francesca Root-Dodson and Camren Bicondova gave their best shots from an acting perspective and there were no kind of forced feminism! I also noted that WB has raised the bar of costume and production design, and the ending provided both. Season 5: 21.5/3 = 7.17 (This episode = 8/10)

Loved the episode but Gotham police aims worse than Storm Troopers

I really love the series which has a great alternative to the Batman stories we know and love. The cast is great and character development is by far the most interesting thing in this show.

BUT

I have to hold back my anger when I see scenes like in this episode: Roughly 15 Police against 15-20 penguin thugs in a shootout with about 5-10 meters in between them .. all of the police have about one magazine full of bullets and they rain hell on the thugs. Gladly most of the thugs were not behind cover, so they could hit them quite easily, especially after having 2 minutes time to look for a nice juicy target and prepare your brain for firing ..... considering they all are trained cops with a training in shooting firearms ...

The shooting starts and they managed to hit ONE... I REPEAT: ONE in the LEG ..................

comeeee oooooon ...... I was furious after this scene. Let them kill a couple of thugs ...

such poor shooting happens QUITE OFTEN in this series ... and each time it takes off half a quality star

Strong episode with a familiar gang and great character development

I was sold at seeing the Mutant Gang, ripped straight from the comics, they are one of my favorite gangs that the Dark Knight faces in the comics. The transformation of Selina into Catwoman was the true highlight, it was just splendid and done right. Selina and Bruce fighting the Mutant Gang took me back to the comics, all the times they teamed up, great fight scene and the addition with the batclaw and cat claws made it perfect. I haven't really thought anything special about Ecco, the second hand of Jeremiah but she interested me in this episode, making her one of my favorite villains. She's inspired by Harley Quinn, yes. But there is something else in the character, something different. The cult of Jeremiah is something I didn't expect but it works, loving the idea. Great acting performance by Francesca Root-Dodson, Ecco. Probably the best of today's episode, Camren Bicondova also gave a great performance, she's growing as an actress.

The costume and prop department has to get some praise for this episode, loved everything that they did for this episode!

A Really Well Constructed Episode
Sam_Morningstar19 January 2019
'Penguin, Our Hero' is the next installment of Gotham's Last Season. Here we get to see some well deserved Character Development of Penguin. The acting was really well done as usual. We get to see some cute scenes with Bruce and Selena in this episode. The story is divided between Bruce and Selena and Penguin and Jim Gordon and their conflicts, which is smoothly done. Seeing Selena as a Prototype Catwoman and Bruce as a Prototype Batman was a solid treat for fans. The Direction, Production, Writing and everything else was well done. The Tone is getting darker but not like Titans but it is still enjoyable. The Ending also leaves something to wait for.

So Overall Its a Solid 10 and I hope it continues in the same direction.

Can't get enough of Gotham!
HassantakeR21 January 2019
I wish the episodes were longer because 12 episode is not enough! There are many stories to be covered. This episode was excellent and the improvement on Selina's character is noticable as she finally becoming Catwoman. It is kind of funny seeing these actors grow up season after season and when they are finally becoming the characters we like, the show will end.

I hope DC Universe picks it up.

Each episode worse than the last
steve-667-1019026 January 2019
This series was at its best when the craziness was a tad more subtle. That's when I loved the Alfred factor, the JIm and Harvey factors and early penguin. Now it's absurd beyond words. Too frantic, too loud and too many cliches that remind me of the camp 60'show. This negates the excellent portrayals referred to above. I thought I'd give it one more try but it's too tough to watch now and I'm a lifetime comic fan.
