love triangle with a twist
Sirfaro113 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Lia (Bea Alonzo) and Philip (Paulo Avelino) are set to get married but when Lia's ex boyfriend came back with a secret in an attempt to take Lia back, their lives become complicated. As they prepare their wedding, Philip is expected to carry the family name in the political field in Cebu. Although the story is retold over again, the story unfolds layer by layer, keeping the viewer interested. Another layer of the story here is how Lia learned how to accept his trans father, eventually helping her decide if he will marry Philip or not. This movie showed Bea has mastered her acting chops and is ready for more mature roles in the future

Warning: Spoilers
I saw the higher than average rating for this movie so I thought it'd be a movie that can make the viewer feel or think or at least ponder something. Unfortunately, the almost two hours run time was a total redundancy of the same template of virtually the majority of Filipino movies that everyone is so tired of. Plain girl meets rich boy with family problems, they fall in love, a problem comes up, they break up, meet again at a later time and then ends with hints of a new beginning. Wow, how creative. When did imagination stop coming to Filipino film makers?

Dialogue was so basic except for the lines from Michelle (she's the reason I gave two stars - strong acting skills and well spoken lines but unfortunately only a side character). Story has some plot holes in it - for one, if Lia's mom was the only reason her dad wasn't able to visit her, why didn't he come after Lia's mom died?

A lot of scenes of the movie also have terrible sounds, basically imperceptible (thank god for the subtitles!) while others were too loud. I had to turn the volume up and down all the time like a DJ. And what was this dubstep music while Derek was walking along the hall? I understand it was some sort of precursor for something dangerous, but this music was so awkwardly mismatched to the scene. Also, the Bisaya from the actors were so cringy!

Bea Alonzo is pretty but it won't make up for the shortfalls of this film. If you're looking for something with a good story and a nice takeaway after two hours, do not watch this.

Weak story

Warning: Spoilers
I like Bea Alonzo and the rest except Derek Ramsey when it comes to acting.... Same old story ex fights to get you back. I dont get it why lia have to leave her fiance because he is gay even though she made patches with her dad. Trauma?. So why did she reason out that she's been taking care of everyone.. nah.
