Just magic
jake_antuan12 July 2020
As a songwriter we strugle with a lot of emotions, the fact that so many times we are scared of what people think about our music, the anxiety of writing a song and feel like the words aren't right, that we need so much more, that we don't have the right words, that the environment is so loud or isn't the best to write, but the beautiful time when the pen and your hand has a unique experience when they just connect with your brain and do marvels without thinking, it is so amazing, sometimes we feel like is like magic. This episode reminded me how the songwriting proces usually is, and how hard it is to deal with the emotions that make a good song became good... It is just magic.

Neither here nor there

It's cute, the music is great and the protagonist can really sing. But other than that... Just a bland story with no real depth. Also, the scope of it is so romantic that it just feels unrealistic. They try to portray a real life of a young coming-of-age musician in NYC but somehow it just doesn't land. Stuff like having the old, best friend, father figure guy who's really a singer in the subway who gives her money for rent, and she takes it even though she's also renting a storage deposit aside from her rent just to write songs... I meab, really...? Just, no.
