This short is the first one of the three pilots that were made prior to the movie Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland made by Tokyo Movie Shinsha.
It is worth noting how this early version of said movie followed much closely the episodic nature of the original comics, something which was probably discarded in favor of giving it a more cinematic narrative.
Such a shame that Sadao Tsukioka apparently never directed anything again after this pilot, and I would have loved seeing his version of Little Nemo.
