The Act (2019)

Series

1st Season

Episode Seven - Bonnie and Clyde

The police thought they were going to face Thanos, but they faced the Home Alone villains.

What happened in Gypsy's head?

Is the head really blocked or is it just pretending?

I prefer not to comment on this complex part of this case.

This is one of the few cases where the killer was the one who died (to reflect).

In the previous episode, Gypsy had already seen that the world is not a fairy tale, but here she saw that it wouldn't even work for her and her boyfriend.

It's impressive how Dee Dee got Gypsy addicted to medicine, she keeps asking for medicine and she knows the names of all the medicines, without researching I only know Anador and Novalgina.

Episode seven of the first season of the Miniseries The Act watched on May 10, 2024.

Rating: 9/10.

Gypsy and Nick make it back to Wisconsin and she meets Nick's parents. They don't have any medicine and Gypsy wants to go home. She wants someone to find Dee Dee so they create Facebook posts to gain attention. Lacey sees the post and the police search the house. They track the post to Nick's house and they are arrested. Detective Crawford interrogates Gypsy, who lies about everything. Nick tells the whole truth and admits to murder.

This is where the show gets real. The reality of the situation hits them when they see the flashing lights through the curtains. They assumed they would never be caught but instead they made the posts revealing their location. The finale will most likely be an intense courtroom drama, which I look forward to seeing.

Getting so good.

The Act Episode 7, "Bonnie & Clyde", shows how much Dee Dee brainwashed her child, to the point where she is displaced from reality, not knowing how the real world works. The penultimate episode reveals Gypsy's expectations and her skewed view of reality, whereas Nick shows his true mental condition. "Bonnie & Clyde" is the big moment; Gypsy and Nick finally get that coach to Wisconsin to live a life of happiness. They have lied to Nick's parents about Gypsy's conditions, and they believe she was living in a homeless shelter. Gypsy does not seem impressed by Nick's home, or his family - she immediately questions how cluttered his room is, and the lack of food in the fridge; putting aside the horrific scenario and her upbringing, I was fuming at her ridiculously high expectations from someone she has met on the internet. Food is low, so Gypsy does what she and her mother did best - steal. They go to a supermarket, and at this point, she controls Nick to steal and distract staff members and customers. When they return home, Nick's mum wants Gypsy to reconnect with her mother, and this is where the problems start - Gypsy misses her deceased mother. And this is where the reality sinks in, and we see just how skewed Nick and Gypsy's vision of the world is; Gypsy wants to go home - she's upset that they have left her dead, so Nick thinks of the dumbest idea ever; they post from Gypsy and Dee Dee's Facebook account, hinting murder, hoping their neighbors worry something has happened. It works, and the police immediately investigate. Gypsy forgets to turn off the location on her Facebook. When getting questioned by the police, Gypsy lies to the police in "Bonnie & Clyde", stating that Nick murdered her mother, and she had no involvement. On the other hand, Nick is ridiculously transparent, believing that he was a hero for saving Gypsy; scenes before, Gypsy convinced him that he saved her and the police will take their side. Nick's mother reveals that he has the brain of a 15-year-old.

Warning: Spoilers
The Act - Episode 7 Continuing my marathon and what a quick episode. In the previous episode it already appeared that Gypsy had realized that the guy is not a prince charming and in this one it expands on that much more. She defending her mother from her mother-in-law's statements. Then she wants them to find her mother and her mistake in not including her location in the post. The mother is already noticing something strange about Gypsy. Out of nowhere, Gypsy, during the interrogation, refused to believe that her mother was killed (I didn't understand if it was grief of denial or if she just pretended and wanted to get away with it). And finally, the neighbors seeing on TV that Gypsy can walk. Episode seven watched on March 14, 2024.

Getting boring
dcc-0547429 April 2019
The Act started off great and exciting, but the last few episodes have been boring. This is probably the worst episode in the series. I think this could have been done in 6 episodes. We know the outcome already but this episode dragged things on and had no suspense, the acting has gone downhill as well. The male lead has become plain annoying in his acting, like yes we know he is a psycho but we don't need to see his ticks every time he is on screen- it is very repetitive and the acting has become one dimensional. The episode was extremely disappointing and I am relieved there is only one episode left.
