Google and Kevin McCallister...what a combo of fun!

Kevin McCallister is back and home aloned again! Sure, it's only for a Google assistant ad but they brought Macaulay Culkin back to surface with a bright, charming and interesting piece that takes us back to the nostalgia in seeing the "Home Alone" movies which made of Culkin a star.

It's essentially the same plot of the first film, he was left alone by his family on that big lovely house and having the fun of his life...except that now he's a grown up and instead of creating tools to get the bad guys off his territory he has the Google assistant to make him remind of what to do, how to plan schedules and work on them - but when the time comes, he recreates those humored moments paying the pizza guy by using that "old gangster film" to threat the poor guy or the dancing/walking cardboard characters used to give the impression the house is full so the thieves won't get in.

Perfectly made, vivid and entertaining just as "Home Alone" was. I grew up with those movies and never got tired of them. This short project comes with a plus: it surely knows how to sell the product, it feels like an essential tool and the makers of it were genius in mixing their idea with a classic film. It works fantastically, very funny and Culkin hasn't lost his touch all over the years. I was glad to see him way differently than some years ago where he appeared in public with a shockingly skinny appearance. He's in better shape now and we still want him to come back to the movies for good. 10/10

If you want to revive the Home Alone series, make the next film with Kevin as an adult having a family of his own. Make it PG-13, make it about family working together against criminals breaking in, make it a dark comedy - people will enjoy it that grew up with this series. We're all adults now, so let's make it the way it should be made instead of rehashing the same story over and over.

For many fans of Macaulay Caulkin, it is a hopeful short film after the dark years of actor. For the old kids, new ocasion to be in the circle of Home alone. A good film for inspired humor, for the reference to technology and for crumbs of magic in special way. And, sure, for the familiar Kevin McCallister . So, source of nostalgia.

Warning: Spoilers
"Google Assistant: Home Alone Again" is a really short film at one minute only and the title already gives away that this is a little spoof of the classic Home Alone movie and the reason why many people checked it out when it was released for the 2018 holidays is that Macaulay Culkin reprises his role and shows us why Home Alone would not have worked in the the now. It is basically him giving instructions to Google's highly intelligent technology that makes sure everything is in order and stays that away and the villains leave right away and the pizza boy just gets his change and so on. Many references to the actual film, but yeah, it is a pretty brief commercial, nothing special by any means and I somehow feel that even those who really love Home Alone will not be too amazed by it, also because it shows us once again everything that went wrong with Culkin('s career.) I mean even his brother is having a great career these days with Emmy nominations or so. Overall, it's okay this was made, but seeing it once is really enough, maybe one time too many already as it is not as funny as it wants to be and honestly if you watch this without knowing Home Alone, then you probably have no clue at all what is going on. So skip this one. I give it a thumbs-down.

This is a harmless bit of fun, seeing Macaulay Culkin /Kevin back again, but it'll be instantly forgotten I'm sure.
