This second episode takes us from the Dust Bowl to conclusion of World War II. We are introduced to the likes of the Carter Family, Roy Acuff, Bob Wills, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, and many others. It is the rise of the movies and radio that makes the hillbilly music the music of America. It is also a segue into the fifties where people like Hank Williams will give us new genres, where the singer, not the group, becomes central.
