The Cove (2009)
10/10
What ever you say about this film.
21 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
No matter how subjective or against the grain you want to go. If you want to compare this to African tribes eating gorillas or south Georgia's whale killing history. Or how we eat meat, or how its traditional for certain cultures to eat for survival. You can go on and on. But the point is that this is inhuman slaughter. There is no attempt at minimizing the suffering. Its just plain evil slow killing. No attempt at all. Would you like a spike stuck in your genitals, mouth? then left in the water to bleed out in agony? If you cant see the cruelty you are a misguided individual? The point of this film is to make aware of the barbarity of this practice, which has morphed from traditional custom into an evil commercial execution. that's the point, Don't try to justify it, put your latte down. I have shown friends in japan the link and they are as shocked too. And it isn't a couple of dolphins for a village to sustain itself. Its hundreds.

Real Time (2008)
5/10
Good film... but one thing ruined it!
4 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Look this film is pretty good. But as an Australian i have to say this. Randy Quaids accent was awful! It confused me why an American was playing an Australian in a Canadian setting? Why did he have to do the ridiculous accent? Why couldn't he be from the states why Australian? He's a good actor.I have loved him since "vacation". The movie is clever and the end is good. There is some great scenery and i got a good feel for the Canadian winter. I enjoy a well written film and this was the only thing was the awful accent. I suppose as an Australian it was that bad. I really couldn't get into the movie because of the crap accent...and that's a shame.

White Noise (I) (2005)

The trailer was better than the movie!!
22 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I was so very keen to get a good fright after i saw the trailer. How wrong i was. Firstly Keatons character was an arrogant idiot. His girlfriend, or whatever? was completely unconvincing as this idiots wife. Look I'm really bitter about this film. it was a ridiculous subject. totally unbelievable. It actually worries me that so many people are writing about this like it had some meaning or depth....get over it. it was rubbish. WHat happened in the end? who where those 3 figures? how many mums did that kid have? what the hell was that woman Ungers story? how did she survive that fall? I was in a room with others and we where all very angry at having our time and intelligence wasted. We tried to get a refund from the shop. we claimed false advertising for the trailer. Thats how much the movie sucked. Yeah we all have someone who has died and we hope that they are still with us, but this movie is a piece of fiction about a fairy tale subject. end of story.

Trailer Park Boys (2001–2018)
Nova Scotian comedy is great!!!!!!!
7 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I first saw an episode of this at a friends place who had satellite. I never usually like a show straight off, but this grabbed me straight away. It was so funny. The characters for a start Ricky the tracksuit bottom wearing quiff pot smoking pepperoni eating loving father. Julian the smooth thinking gold chain wearing brain of the trio Bubbles the cat loving bespectacled caring one who fixes shopping trolleys and always avoids jail. Are the main three. But Mr Jim Lahey is the funniest character i have seen for a while. Hes a chronic drinker who in every episode has a ridiculous s@#t metaphor that is brilliantly delivered. he is also the park supervisor and is the trios nemesis. "the s@#t blizzard", "the winds of s#$t", "a s@#t leopard never changes its spots" are some of the titles of the show. awesome great show. What i love about this show is that there is alway the same thing. Julian always has a rum and coke in his hand, Ricky always wears the same track pants, Randy the assistant trailer park supervisor never wears a shirt. Jim Lahey is always absurdly drunk with his s@#t quotes. its completely crazy, there's gun fights, driveways made of hash, bottle wielding kids who bottle cars and trailers for no reason. There's tons of booze, swearing and drugs through out. its completely off the hook. so if you want a laugh just watch an episode of trailer park boys.

9 Songs (2004)

Uncomfortable issues, uncomfortable scenes uncomfortable acting with comforting results.
6 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This film conveyed what i feel every night. A sense of trying to remember a love lost, or lust lost? We try to remember them and sometimes we just remember the physical side, and sometimes as time moves on this is all we have. The memories really struck home to me personally. I often think of my ex and all i can remember is what we shared intimately. because i have tried to hard to forget that she was a human. I found this film very personal, only two characters. The man and the girl. They meet and start a sexual relationship that any person can relate to. The man shares with us his memories and we see some pretty full on sexual acts. Great! Its not a porn movie! its to deep and the characters are very recognizable. Sure the there is the live bands playing at the club, this is the timeouts from the sexual element. and i know that others say the performances are dry and acted badly. but how do we act when we sense that what we thought would last for ever is going to end. over all it was an uncomfortable film with an uncomfortable story played by actors who... well lets face it playing uncomfortable parts. and doing very uncomfortable scenes. I feel that this film deserves credit for its boldness.

I never thought a movie with Witherspoon in it would last in my video player!
8 April 2002
When my partner brought this home, i held it at arms length, with fear in my eyes. But I really enjoyed it (maybe it was the wine). But none the less i found it quite entertaining. A blonde who looks dumb as gets dropped by her man who doesnt want a blonde partner.(are we tacky yet!) He leaves for Harvard law school, and our distraught blonde decides to use her "Fashion studies" brilliance to follow him into a law degree. Her entrance film is great and the rest of the film is pretty much. Blonde gets hassled, blonde fights back, blonde gets accepted, blonde wins court case blonde finds new man. her dog is the only thing that picks up on people bagging her, cool touch i thought. Good to watch if your drunk.

Pearl Harbor (2001)
Dawsons creek, goes to war. DAWSONS HARBOR!!!!!
26 June 2001
I was really looking foward to this film but left feeling disapointed. I have been to pearl harbor and been to the Arizona memorial. I just fail to see how this awful American propaganda can really do justice to the thousands of people trapped in the rusting ship. When I went to the Arizona I could see oil still coming up from the ship in little dribs and drabs. It was totally creepy to see it. I thought that they would try to honor those sailors, but I think that the movie is an insult to the men who died there. It was like watching Dawsons creek. "All the boys are pilots, and all the girls are nurses" Arron Spelling would be proud. And even the inclusion of "Trainspottings" Spud, could not even bring any sort of realism to the movie. Im sorry, but all I can do is give it a big thumbs down.

L'amour fugitif (1983 TV Movie)
A film about the innocence of youth over coming the horrors of war.
12 June 2001
"Bad Hats" is a movie that is set in World war one. It focuses on two army deserters that have run away from the horrors of the trenches. One is an English Tommy called, "Chappin" and the other is a French soldier called "Rouchon". We firstly see "Rouchon" leaving his trench as his fellow soldiers are going other the top. He runs away and spots "Chappin" in the distance saying goodbye to a French farm girl. "Chappin" runs away from "Rouchon" thinking that he will be arrested. They have a bit of a tussle, until "Chappin" realises that "Rouchon" is also a deserter. As "Chappin is trying to sail to Ireland to escape the horrors of the trenches. "Rouchon" lies that he can sail a boat, so he can tag along with "Chappin". The story follows our two friend's journey. As they face problems and navigational errors. We see a friend ship blossom as they begin to rely on each other and their motto becomes "we do what we want". This motto comes because of the barbarity of the war and constant fear of being captured. They decide that they are going to have fun and not worry until the end. There are many laughs, and these two really do touch you as they carry on like two free little boys hiding in the woods. It is very moving as we see them having running races, tightrope walking and enjoying their peculiar existence. If you like anti war movies this is definitely, a movie that shows the tragedy of a young generation that had to suffer a horrifying existence.

Inhumanoid (1996 TV Movie)
Bad effects, bad acting, bad story.
28 August 2000
"lets get this". It was the only Sci-fi movie with an R rating. We watched and cringed. First of all there is a lego space ship then there is a woman having sex with the lion from wizard of Oz, or was it the old costume from American werewolf. Then the guy from 21 jump street is putting a little girl in the garbge disposal. Then there is lots and lots of killing then more sex then killing. And that is pretty much it, and oh yeah in between killing and sex there is terrible acting. I think the R rating is for the acting.

The most powerful first 30 mins of a film, ever.
12 October 1999
When I first saw this I was trembling. I stared as I watched hundreds of soldiers get mutilated. I trembled because this happened and I have been to the beach. It is graphic but this is just to me total realism. I felt it is time that war is shown at its full gruesome truth. I think a lot of people will. take more of a standoff view to war. This movie in its first 30 mins is a total anti-war movie but still gives total credit to the men who fought in it. The performances are first class and the cinematography and sound send chills down your spine. I really feel so much for soldiers now after viewing such waste.

Piranha (1978)
10/10
Killer fish, Killer movie. Lots of gore and cringing laughs.
29 August 1999
I saw this when I was ten and I loved it. I couldnt go for a swim in the river for months. A great concept. Mutated Pirahna that the CIA breed. to be dropped into the rivers of north Vietnam during the war. But the war ends and the highly trained fish are left brooding for live flesh in a secret pool in the hills of America. Until they are released by a foolish reporter. Some great special effects and sound. Feel your body being ripped apart as the Pirahna set upon the lakes holiday makers. Watch the blood boil red and the chomping of the pirahnas rings in your terified ears. 9-10 for sure!!!!!!!
