Pearl Harbor (2001)
Overdone,and yet enjoyable
I realize that any moviegoers shunned "Pearl Harbor" because of it's love story intertwined with the historical aspects of war. But most Michael Bay films strive to do that, and so I found it to be a good movie. Well actually, I see it a more of an experience in that to determine how good it is, it takes some contemplation.
I had been anticipating the release of this movie since January 2000. When I was watching, there was a large range of emotions. Happiness, sadness, shock, and a tinge of cynicism at some of the Titanic-esque elements. And yet when it was all over, and the loose ends had been tied up, it was a great movie. Ben Affleck continued his streak as one of my favorite film actors, and Josh Hartnett entered the running (I wasn't terribly impressed with a few of his other films). My only regret is that Alec Baldwin, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Jon Voight didn't have bigger parts.
To reiterate my original point, if you were looking for a documentary type portrayal of December 7, 1941, then you will not find it here. But if you're willing to see a love story mixed in with incredibly lifelike footge of the tragedy, then you will enjoy it!
Keeping the Faith (2000)
Well-Done and Wonderful
I saw this movie expecting a lot out of it. Surprisingly enough, I got more than I thought I would. Ben Stiller didn't disappoint me; I've always been a fan of him, and this movie was no different. Jenna Elfman did a really good job playing someone that's the opposite of her usual "Dharma" persona. But I was blown away by Edward Norton's performance; he has joined the ranks of my favorite actors.
Overall, I thought it was an excellent movie, and I would gladly see it again.
2gether (2000)
SILLY BUT FUNNY
I really enjoyed this movie. I think that the best part about it was that the guys were not just good dancers and good actors, but they could sing as well. I have a new appreciation of the definition of boy-band, and I hope that "2GE+HER" becomes very popular!!!
Schindler's List (1993)
Excellent
Even though this may not be my favorite film, it has to be the best made movie I have ever seen, in terms of cinematography. Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes did an impeccable acting job, and Steven Spielberg triumphed.
So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993)
This is an awesome film!
I don't really remember what got me hooked on this movie, but it is one of my all time favorites. For those who love to quote movies, this movie is sheer heaven, for Stuart Mackenzie is the most quote-worthy character. Not to mention that those who are fans of Mike Myers may see there is more to his career than SNL and Austin Powers. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed this movie about as much as Austin Powers, if not more.
