Endless babble, no new information
21 September 2021
My first impression of this was that it seemed pretentious. The 10 minute long intro had me immediately questioning my decision to watch. If you know nothing of mothman and don't mind an overly dramatic and a loquacious narrator, you might find this an alright experience but otherwise I'd strongly recommend passing on this one.

Disappointed
17 September 2021
I've read Turn of the Screw, I've seen Haunting of Bly Manor, I was looking forward to this movie all last year, so when it came out in Showtime I was excited. That excitement was met with immense disappointment when I quickly realized this movie was nothing but jump scares and a poorly thought out script. I won't blame anything in the acting as I thought all the actors did an excellent job but damn...

Good actors, bad acting
24 May 2021
This movie was a missed opportunity. The plot felt like something a writer came up with in about 5 minutes and didn't bother to hash out.

It's hard for me to talk bad about Tom hanks or Patton Oswald but this was not a good movie.

Harry Potter chick I'd just not a good actress, every expression and every sentence she muttered felt fake. The ending was lame...this movie is no "Anti-Trust"

Time travel = weak story
4 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If the trailers for Tenemt weren't confusing enough for you, the movie will Fry your brain. Basically, a black ops agent is sent to stop a group with the ability to enhance objects to move backwards thru time. Nolan has done some good work but when you play with time travel, you're just being damn lazy.

Too many flashbacks
24 April 2021
I wanted to like this series but someone needs to tell the producers that the constant flashback 4months, flashback 2 months, etc is just ridiculous!

Weak
22 April 2021
I have often wondered what movies would be like if the actors were allowed to see the finished product and either approve or reject its release before showing it to the public. This is a movie I am most certain would have never seen the light of day had the actors in the movie been given the chance to veto the finished product, the entire movie seemed like a weak idea beaten over and over until it was stretched out to form a movie.

This was a lame idea, featuring some recognizable actors. My opinion would be stay away from this stinker, it's not worth your time...

Low budget, no story garbage
15 April 2021
There's a reason this movie was straight to video with a bunch of B list actors. The first issue I had was the main characters are in their 40s and behaving like they're 20. The entire story line was haphazard and thrown together with a bunch of cheesy special effects. The entire thing feels like it's building up to something, then it just doesn't.... There's a reason you've never heard of this movie, and you should keep it that way.

Some things just shouldn't exist
13 April 2021
I'm not entirely clear whether this was an attempt to squeeze another 16 movies out of the X-men franchise but this movie that took forever to come out should have stayed where it belonged, on the shelf in the back room of a studio. The entire thing was poorly conceived, poorly produced and poorly executed.

My life is worse for having seen this, so if you haven't already, just don't.

What was the plan?
31 March 2021
The thing that stuck with me here was how much I hated the cinematography of this movie. A follow-up to a well-cast flop, this movie gave me vertigo! I'm typically not very critical of such things but the constantly spinning cameras made it impossible for me to enjoy this movie. I very much enjoyed Skull Island, however this was more in line with the "Godzilla" flop of last year. If others enjoyed this movie, I'm happy for them, however I was not one of those people.

Visual anesthesia
2 March 2021
When dealing with a subject matter like art forgery, it takes a keen directors eye to develop a story that both engages and entertains the viewer. This director failed on both fronts... This is 90 minutes of white 1% snobs all throwing each other under the bus... Surely there must have been another way... Despite the poppy action music, this movie put me to sleep, several times. I should market this movie to be played in hospitals during surgery in place of anesthesia...

A lame attempt at a sequel
21 February 2021
Firstly, Ed and Lorraine Warren are truly controversial figures. Many people, including myself, believe they were basically snake oil salesmen, cashing in on the hippy spiritual culture of the 60s-70s. That being said, the characters portrayed in the film are okay. I would have liked them to be less Pius but I suppose that was part of the Warrens' schitck irl. Conjuring 2 portrays the Warrens as having WAY more involvement in the London case than actually occurred. In reality, they were there less than a week and basically told everyone it was all a scam put in by some mischievous kids and a gullible mum. Btw, it actually was faked, as admitted by the kids later in life. I really enjoyed the first Conjuring, it had a very classic 70s horror vibe, combined with the special effects tech of the 21st century. I felt like this sequel was an attempt to cash in on the success of the first movie and it showed. The story felt rushed and not well thought out, even without knowing all the actual facts, the same way Annabel: Creation sucked but Annabel Comes Home was much more put together. The writers are definitely attempting to cash in on the entire Conjuring franchise (conjuring; annabel; the nun) and I don't blame them nor do I mind, as I am a horror fan, but I really would like to see them elevate their game and make these truly "pee your pants" scary and not just a weak popcorn flick, the way Conjuring 2 was...

Wtf was that?
21 February 2021
I didn't realize going in that this was a TV movie as I ran across it on Netflix but I knew that it would be trouble as soon as I saw the first commercial break. I have a number of issues with this movie the first being who names their daughter Karen? Let alone a redhead a daughter named Karen! The second Bing what was the point of this movie? Was it supernatural? was it horror? I felt like the director was overreaching and spreading the story too thin without a clear understanding of what movie they wanted to make... I also had a real tough time trying to buy Karen as being a teenage daughter. She came across more like a 20 something-year-old young woman. And I guess there was supposed to be some kind of sexual tension between her and the Andrew character? The actor playing Karen's dad was clearly not old enough to have a daughter that age, or at least as old as the actress playing Karen appeared to be. Btw, I crack up every time someone tells "Karen!" I expect someone to say "get your manager!" I seem to recall hearing about this movie around the same time as the major motion picture Escape Room, starring Tyler Labine and Deborah Woll, both Tyler and this movie fell very Canadian... as there's no American movie that would have its actors screaming "Karen!" Every 6 seconds... In the end, this was a horror movie without horror, a ghost flick without ghosts, it was just disappointing and lame. There wasn't even an actual ending, it's as if they just gave up and decided to throw in some really lame twist ending. This movie is, at best, Something to have on for background noise if you enjoy the sound of people screaming "Karen!"

Not worth the effort of keeping my eyes open
20 February 2021
It's a red flag when a movie bills itself as a creation of "that one guy from Twilight" it would have been better to broadcast it as "something by Jeanie Gerth's husband" Tom Jane had never been an A-list actor, but even he deserves better than being cast in this garbage. Right off the bat, it feels like inexperienced performers trying too hard to make us believe they're a happy family, it's all completely unbelievable. I found myself saying out loud "who writes garbage like this?" Just because an "actor" kinda looks like Tom cruise and happened to land a forgettable part in a tween vampire franchise is NO reason to let him write and direct this hot garbage. It felt like a lifetime movie reject!!! Everything about this was bad, the casting, the writing, the acting, do yourself a big favor and skip this!

At least the cast is more attractive than Spain...
20 February 2021
I'm a big fan of Criminal UK, it set the bar for the sister shows. I didn't care for Spain, perhaps it was the lame translation, but Germany seems to be the closest to UK that I've seen yet. I'm impressed at how similar the sets are, but so far none of them have lived up to the expectations set by UK. Just when I thought Germany might be a decent version, in comes the 50-something old German guy flinging his coat and stomping his foot. I'm afraid he's going to wreck the entire series for me...

If you liked Criminal: UK...
20 February 2021
If you liked criminal UK, you'll probably be hugely disappointed by Criminal Spain. I'm unsure how accurately this show represents Spain's legal system but if it's accurate, the cops spend half their time trying to kick out the defendant's lawyer and the rest of the time asking about their vacations or backing up their nonsensical theories with their "gut" Perhaps it's something lost in the awful translations but this show is definitely NOT up to par with its UK counterpart...

Just didn't get there for me
19 February 2021
Tbh I found this movie confusing. It's listed as a Spanish film but everyone spoke English, most with a British accent... Secondly it was never very clear what country this was set it. Looks like England in parts but they keep referring to burning man which is typically in the USA, except there is a version of it held in Spain... Those unclear points aside, a nerdy music school kid falls for a carefree girl whose entire ambition appears to be going to burning man festival. Add to that, all her friends seem to hate the new guy because they want to keep sleeping with the French girl. I've lived long enough to know if your girlfriend suddenly runs away, best to let her go. Chasing after love is a juvenile concept. I did like the cab driver, who served as a sort of conscience to the musician when he chases after the girl. While I appreciated they spoke English, thus saving me the trouble of reading subtitles, I felt ultimately the plot felt a C little too teenage love story for my taste

Bias and generally not informative
11 February 2021
The case of Elisa lam has always interested me, in fact the generals story around the Cecil hotel has always fascinated me. That being said, this "documentary " was nothing more than a collection of wannabe web sleuths, patchworked together with a few interviews, that provides no actual insight. These wannabe crime solvers are making connections that make absolutely no sense in the real world. Their conclusions may as well say Lam was abducted by aliens. Not to mention, anyone who has ever read anything on the case already knows every bit of "information" this show claims to provide. As an entertainment piece, I suppose it works, however I believe the producers were very loose with the term "documentary" I had been waiting for this series for some time, however now I have no interest in watching the series further...

Sci-fi for intelligent people
7 February 2021
I don't know what it is about Norway but every now and again they produce some really good movies...Let The Right One In, Troll Hunter, and even The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo are all examples of great underdog movies that went in to bigger success and even some American remakes. That being said, I loved that this movie was in English! I prefer when my attention isn't taken away, trying to read what's on screen. This movie is about a young homeless man in Norway who gets into an altercation with some punks kids and one of them dies after confronting the homeless man. Once arrested, it's discovered that he has the ability to control elements (air, water, fire, etc..) think of"Storm" from X-men, only cooler... He develops a mutual attraction with the psychologist and after escaping custody, teams up with her to try and figure out what is happening to him. The American guy is played by a Californian, so us southerners need to forgive his horrible Texas accent, but for the most part it's not too bad. The scenery is amazingly beautiful, If Norway looks like that, I hope to visit someday. The effects in the movie are pretty good, especially considering it's not a big budget movie. If you're looking for a superhero movie, this isn't it, but if you like well written sci-fi, I think you'll find this movie a pretty good way to kill a few hours.

A failure
6 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you're going to remake a movie that's already been made 50 times, about a story that's been told millions of times, you're automatically setting the bar incredibly high. This movie fell so far below that bar, it couldn't even see the bar from where it was. Firstly, just like many others, I need to know why Gretel was the only character without an accent? Was it that the actress just didn't even want to try? Automatically that puts me in mind of Costner's horrible Robin Hood failure. Perhaps in this version Gretel has Aspergers? It seems like the filmmakers were so concerned with cinematography, they sacrificed a cohesive plot. I dislike movies with rambling narrations dubbed over the action, this movie was full of them. Why was everyone so eager to talk about turning Gretel out? She looks like a pre teen boy, yet everyone wants her to turn tricks? I watch movies to be entertained, not to spend 2 hours trying to figure out constant symbolism and metaphors. This movie came off as a pretentious art piece, not a horror/thriller. If you still can't tell by now, I didn't care for this movie. I saw it for free, so that's just about the only positive I have for this 2hr cologne commercial.

Superstore: Ground Rules (2021)
Season 6, Episode 8

R.I.P. Superstore
5 February 2021
This used to be one of my favorite shows, but THIS is no longer that show. I didn't believe it was affected that much by AF leaving but I must admit that season 6 has lost all of the magic seasons 1-5 possessed. The show was a comedy, now it's just a half-hour soap box with an occasional attempt at a joke here and there. I'm not sure if they lost writers or what happened but there's almost none of the magic that the show used to have. This episode felt like a sad attempt of the actors dragging thru the episode. Every performance felt phoned-in and the "jokes" barely summoned a chuckle. This show is on life support and it's time to pull the plug. Goodbye, Superstore, we'll always have seasons 1-5!

Convoluted nonsense
5 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Like many, the trailer gave me a very different impression than the actual film. It's pretty obvious that it's about mental illness, however the movie attempts to combine that with some gibberish sci-fi story about a "brain box" and reality being a simulation (all connected thru some rigged cpap machines... The movie tries so hard to become multi-layered that it becomes just damn confusing and scattered. Combined with an ending that doesn't really make any sense...ur left wondering, was it all imagined? Was salma hayek's character real? It's about as satisfying as the ending to The Sopranos, maybe even less.

Beyond fake
4 February 2021
A mockumentary supposedly discussing a fake book written about violent criminals... The first 5 minutes give you a good idea of how bad the movie will be, it's full of way too many opening shots meant to "shock" and a lot of fake news clips. It really feels like a first time director. The entire film was overly redundant and sounds like self promotion. Also, because it's entirely fake and full of actors pretending to be PhD's, it offers no actual insights or useful information. I would skip this one if I had a choice.

It's sarcoidosis...
2 February 2021
Why does EVERY episode alternate between sarcoidosis, cancer, and brain tumors? Btw, it's almost never any of those things... Somewhere around season 5, the show took a total hard turn into House having a mental breakdown for no apparent reason and the ridiculous House/Cuddy romance storyline which was the most forced, convoluted plot line I've ever seen. There was no romantic tension, then suddenly they're in love? It was weak writing and despite a talented cast, it was meaningless fluff that made the writers lazy. This episode was a prime example, it put the medical mystery on the back burner and tried to rely on this absurd romance plot line. Most definitely NOT one of their better episodes...

Search Party: The Movie!
30 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What's with John Reynolds playing the same character in everything (except for stranger things)? Awkward, nerdy, beta guy with odd-looking, wild-haired foreign gf gets into shenanigans...he has NO range as an actor and it gets old, fast. This movie felt exactly like Search Party (and even featured some of the same cast). The music, the cinematography, etc... I was hoping for a comedy, instead I got a millennial movie (by millennials for millennials) with an occasional laugh. The world gets invaded by furry decorative throw pillows that want to drink all earths gas...and then the protagonists find a baby and are sucked into space in a bubble...the end, literally. There were a few laughs, but overall this movie was a huge waste. Hulu offered it as one of their films, that automatically tells you it's going to be bad...like tv-movie bad. I wish I'd never watched this movie, that's a block of my life lost...wasted...

Geeeeeezus
27 January 2021
First season was "meh" nothing special...2nd season got a lot better, had a decent cliff hanger, but season 3 has become absolute garbage!!! After the political uproar and turmoil in the USA involving police and racial oppression, this show should have hung up its gun belt. Instead it's become this preachy, hour-long Liberal PC spoon feeding of "let's all hold hands" Hollywood garbage. I don't disagree with any of the points they're making, but I don't watch tv to listen to cheesy political messages. Each episode is getting worse and worse. This may be the first Fillion show that I give up on.
