Swept Away (2002)

a nice one

I have just seen this movie on DVD and i must admit .. I kinda liked it!! I am generally not a Madonna fan and I consider her like any other pop singer with a lot of nice hits but not more. I am usually rather very hard critic but there is something nice and attractive about this movie.. I can imagine that it is not the kind of movie I would like to see in a Cinema.. It is rather a nice entertaining for a nice cosy evening.

I think that the acting was GREAT.. Madonna did her role as a snoopy upper class know it all rich woman very good.. and Adrianno Giannini in the role of Pepe did a great job as well. The music is gorgeous and if u ever have been to Greece you will understand why this music simply reflects the Mediterranean atmosphere in a fantastic descriptive manner. The plot has some weakness though and I believe it would have been much better at some points. There should have been more … well I don't know exactly but I think that while it took too long to to present the first part of the story (the rich snoopy woman and the poor fisherman) the second - and interesting- part was somehow shorter.. I think it should have been more intense and dramatic.. the love scenes (if there were any) were a little bit weird.. (with clothes on!!!) and seems unoriginal…. By the way.. I agree with other Imdb users that it is somehow uneasy to watch Madonna muscular body.. I don't know why but it is not rather common that women have well lined muscles.. it is kinda bizarre in a way.. but in general I liked it. It wont be everyone's favourite.. but people who like romantic will find it interesting..

This is a very silly and stupid movie.. the acting is OK but the story is very silly and rather just for the lovers of the genre.. it is for people with religious interest or who like stories with devils, angels and such things.. I didn't like this movie at all and I regretted the time I lost watching it.

Lilo & Stitch (2002)

This is a nice welldone movie.. it is kind of "cute" and some how rather for kids than for grown up's who like computer animated films.

it is more like CARTOON rather than something like Monster Inc.

So if u have small kids it could b fun to watch it with them otherwise u it ll b kind of silly .. but to be fair.. its very well done and funny.

The Hours (2002)

Very awkward, melodramatic, melancholic

Very awkward, melodramatic, melancholic; with other words very STRANGE. There might be people who like this kind of stories, but I don't. The acting is absolutely wonderful and quite breathtaking. Julianne Moore (aka Laura Braun) did a great job and her performance is above every critic. It's just the story, the background.. the kind of sadness and discomfort which overwhelm the whole movie, that makes me dislike this film. It is made for people who are kind of `not sure' about themselves and their lives; otherwise you wont understand why the hell are these people unhappy and quit confused!!

It is like if you were hearing some perplexed mental ill patient who has a severe depression because her cat chocked up on a mouse she didn't even caught!!!

Simply AWFUL

This film is absolutely a waste of time and as someone in the discussion forum meant "simply AWFUL" I am really sorry for the people who thinks that there is a deeper interpretation of this film.. GUYS there IS NOT such a thing. The world is full of nerds and idiots and it is not "entertaining" watching them doin and thinking stupid things. This Film is just for people who are interested in `modern art' and think that a huge painting of a piece of rubbish very artistic and eye catching!!!!!!! it is not for normal people who just wanna have a good time.

I have nothing against sophisticated or demanding films .. but there should be a story or an idea behind it and not simply a stupid and boring sequences of silent pics without any other dimension..

troubling story !!!

I don't know why American movie makers seem always very eager to present `injustice' in other countries! Not only they do exaggerate in showing an `inhuman' and brutal way of treatment they also try to demonstrate a status of hate and chaos!! That is simply NOT TRUE!

The truth is that -especially- Americans are treated very well in foreign countries and for political reasons even better than the local people!! I don't think also that people who don't respect human rights and international law are in the position to criticise other!!

I don't want to make a political theme out of this film but this film -especially because of the great dramatic performance- just serve clichés, spread hate and a sense of insecurity! The American characters are showed very passionate, fervent and morally invulnerable (the good guys); all the others are -of coarse- the bad ones with exactly the opposite qualities. Such films suggest that there is no justice or human rights outside the US, what is absolutely silly and incredible. Actually I don't believe that the human rights are better served in the USA than in many other `third-world' countries!!

That's why I hate all these films that try to tell such kind of stories and unfortunately I can't simply separate the story from the performance - which is really very impressing and convincing- but that is the main problem. When the performance is well done then the story seems to be more credible respectively and one more prejudice is again being served.

Wag the Dog (1997)

Great screenplay, great idea

one of the best Films ever made.. it is not really the film itself but the idea which the film represents .. i believe now - in war times - it is even more comprehensible.

I think every voter should see this film in order not to be driven away by lies and political interests, so that he or she can make a better decision on who to elect and on what basis.

this film is one of the silliest movies ever made !! it is totally a waste of time. i mean on a scale from 1 to 10, where 10 the highest score is, this film ll get minus 20!! it could make you at one point or another laugh but at the end you ll be angry to have wasted your time. i am also v v disappointed and actually surprised that this film got a relative good rating from many other IMDb users; probably there r a lot of "blonds" upon them ;-)
