Deadly Prey (1987)
Best movie every made
This movie is the most action packed action movie of all time, the acting is stunning, the plot is original and well thought out, and the directed was amazing.
Deadly Prey is a amped up version of Rambo, and the acting is so good that it draws you in until the end. I bought this movie for fifty dollars, and it was worth every penny.
If someone made a movie about how to be manly, it would be Deadly Prey. They should create a "Movie Hall of Fame" for this movie. If someone was going to lock me away in jail for the rest of my life, and gave me the option to have one movie to watch for the rest of my life, i'd pick Deadly Prey.
Fringe (2008)
Truly the best show i've ever seen.
Fringe is amazing, i've watched it from episode one, onto the third season. And the fact that it was almost canceled offends me, and makes Fox look like fools.
This is one of the most original shows on TV today. People who have only seen one or less episodes will claim it's a X-files rip off, but they clearly haven't seen it.
X-Files had a lot to do with government conspiracies, and aliens. Fringe has nothing do with Aliens, and they work for the government.
Walter Bishop is the most original character on television since Monk!, he's funny, and he makes you emotionally connect, and feel his pain.
The plots are outstanding, and they have boundaries they don't pass, which results in a realistic world.
If you're going to start watching Fringe, try to catch up first because this is the fastest pasted show you'll ever see, new things are happening every episode. They haven't had a "filler" episode since Season one.
Fringe is the best show on TV right now, if you haven't watched it, please do.
Oh and don't judge it from just season one, because things change fast, and often in Fringe.
The Lone Gunmen (2001)
Simply put, entertaining!
This show is great, i expected it to suck. The first two episodes bored me, but once other characters were added into the mix, and they all flowed well together the show went from a three, to an eight.
I thought i'd hate this, but i was way wrong. If you're "Thinking" about watching this, STOP! Just watch the show, it's amazing. Characters are awesome, plots are unique and different, most of the show is unpredictable, and it's a damn shame this show didn't get more time.
But that's what Fox does, cancels good shows because they don't know how to market and advertise. Oh, and they keep putting shows on Friday, the death trap of television shows!
Pulp Fiction (1994)
The most bad ass film you'll ever see.
Let me start by saying, if you're uncomfortable with sexual acts other than what you see on "Sex in the City", and you don't like dirty talking, such as talking about eating women out, than do NOT watch this.
And if you're watching this to see a film that's anything except for pure bad ass and hilarious moments, than you're watching it for the wrong reasons, and in that case you should NOT watch this.
This movie is violent, dirty, offensive, funny, and just flat out entertaining. I've never watched a film that brought so many elements in, and put them together in such a amazing, and successful way.
The acting is good, the dialog is the best i've seen, and the boundary pushing is almost unseen of in other films. They didn't bush barriers, they stomped them down, and raped them.
It's the darkest comedy you'll ever see, and it's obviously not for everyone. If you enjoy movies like Bruce Almighty, Click, Toy Story, and Home Alone, but hate movies like Zach and Miri make a Porno, Shortbus, and A Clockwork Orange than do NOT watch this. Because you will not enjoy this one bit.
I however loved it. And give it an eight.
Shortbus (2006)
Could have been a great film
This film could have been a great film, but whoever wrote and directed this film was obviously forcing unnatural events in order to fit sex scenes in.
For example, there's a scene where James is masturbating and comes in his own mouth on camera for his boyfriend. Having him just masturbate would have been understandable, put going to this extreme when it has nothing to do with the story just shows how horny this director was while making the film.
There's another scene where Sofia is having sex with her boyfriend and this scene shows several different positions, and is way longer than necessary.
And another scene where a dominatrix just beats on this dude for awhile, this part of that scene could have been ten seconds long and got the same point across, but yet again it drags on for an unnecessary amount of time.
The writer and director of this movie used sex scenes and other sexual related acts to film time. And it shows his lack of self confidence with himself. This was a great story, and had several interesting characters.
James had sever depression, Severin had emotional connection problems, Jamie had relationship issues that were out of his control, Sofia couldn't orgasm and it was ruining her sexual relationship with her boyfriend, Ceth felt alone and struggled to find a partner, Caleb has extreme mental problems and had an obsession with James and Jamie.
These characters are all dynamic, and unique. This movie could have been amazing. But the people putting this story together on film ruined it, and the sex scenes, and nudity overshadows the amazing characters and takes time away that could've been spent focusing on the actual story.
I'm not against sex scenes and nudity, but when you're movies entire reputation is dependent on that, it's bad.
This movie could've been so much more, but they dropped the ball.
Tonari no Totoro (1988)
An honest review
Unlike a lot of other's reviewing this, i didn't grow up watching this. I watched this movie for the first time in 2010, and i was 19. I'm capable of temporarily adjusting the age of my mind, to enjoy the more simple films, and view them as they were meant to be seen, and understood. That being said, i won't be judging this film and nitpicking the smallest of problems in the view because those problems are irrelevant considering this is a cartoon written, and made for children.
Although this movie is aimed at children, it is unique, and different enough compared to other children's movies that it almost gives off this "Wizard of Oz" feeling, where you can enjoy this as a true piece of art, rather than another lame children's movie thrown together over night.
The depth in these girls are outstanding for such a simple film, and it feels as if you really know them by the end. And Totoro is just adorable. The person behind the idea of this character is very creative and original.
You can poke holes in this story, and point out a few things that don't add up, but in the end it has a lot of things that don't work in our "real" world, so you shouldn't expect the movie to make complete absolute sense.
The bottom line is, if you can watch a touching, and heartwarming children's movie without thinking "This is totally gay!", and you're mature enough to connect with these characters than it's a movie you can watch and enjoy over and over again.
So if you haven't seen this, check it out. It is definitely worth your time.
Inception (2010)
Breath of fresh air.
I've watched this movie three times now, so i thought i'd share my opinion on it. Inception is one of those movies where you must keep your mind racing to piece together the mystery. There are mind boggling twists in here, one or two predictable ones, but others that no one seen coming.
The movie really pulls you into it, because if you slack of for five seconds you'll miss an important piece of this story. The complaint about it being too long is irrelevant, because there is not one second wasted. Movies like 300 and Avatar are long, and have plenty of wasted time. So it's an understandable complaint, but it doesn't fit in this situation.
The acting in this is great, but not very important. The only character that has depth in this film is Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), and his performance was amazing.
Out of the many movies i've seen, i'd say this is easily top ten favorites, top five as of now. It's a movie you can watch several times and always notice something new, something that you've missed the previous times watching.
If you watch movies to just sit back, and relax, than this movie will probably annoy you. It takes some serious thinking to keep up and understand what's going on.
I found zero flaws in this movie, which is rare. And if you did watch this, and enjoy this a lot than check out some of Christopher Nolans other work such as Momento, and The Prestige because those are films that have the same mystery feeling, and takes thinking, and focus to keep up and understand the film.
To some things up, if someone asked me to describe the movie in one word, i'd have to say "Original", because it takes unused elements and scenarios, and gives us a breath of fresh air.
