Shôgun: Crimson Sky (2024)
Shogun is back!
Episode 7 and 8, unlike all the episodes before them, gave me absolutely nothing. No depth to the characters. No depth to the story. Visually unimpressive.
With episode 9, Shogun is not only back. It's taken to a new level that I didn't think was possible. This episode alone is visually so different that I don't understand what happened in episodes 7 and 8. It is colourful, the cinematography doesn't just give us "money shots" but is on a very high level. The acting is also superb, the colourgrading worldclass.
I wish Shogun was a bit shorter and delivered this level throughout. A level that brought tears to my eyes in this episode, simply because it was so good.
Yellowstone: Half the Money (2021)
Inconsistent.
At the end of the third season, I hoped that the constant, inconsistent behaviour of the writers would finally stop. The incessant boredom, the flushing out of horses and the calendar sayings, followed by sudden moments of shock. Guardians of the galaxy 3 was already inconsistent, everyone loved it. I didn't.
An explosion? Beth survives. John gets shot with a machine gun? Survives. Jimmy falls off a horse after a fall he barely survived? He survives. What are the authors doing here? Taking the piss. I'm done from here. How am I supposed to build up suspense here when it's a wild, pointless superhero western anyway? Too bad.
The Traitors UK: Episode #2.12 (2024)
Absolutely insane!
I was sitting on my couch, having a pulse of 137, holding my hands to my mouth to stop myself from screaming, sweating, breathing heavily and feeling like i'm in the room with the finalists. .
It's unbelievable what BBC has managed to do here, the casting probably won't be this good for a very long time, including the many lucky coincidences - although it was more the performance of the traitors and the blindness of the faithfuls - that led to this final.
More exciting than ANY drama show I've ever seen.
And to round this all up: Claudia is my SUPERSTAR. She's the master of drama and made this show, what is became. Thank you.
The Bear (2022)
Enjoyed the first season, love the second!
Second season has those intimate, slow-building close-ups that are made for the Emmy's. And I love that. Jeremy is even better than in the first season, he's just such a great actor. I can't believe that it got better without exaggerating as they mostly do when a series was successful. Not here. It's still about the people and not about flexing.
There are also more of those moments what it means to reach for the higher fruits which also helps for character development and building.
I just want to be with these people because they all have their heart in the right place. Sometimes it feels like this is TED LASSO just more even swearing and about cooking.
I hope THE BEAR doesn't become a 6 seasoner, cause this will definitely become a multiple emmy winner this year.
Platonic (2023)
Started funny, dissolves into empty and unfunny
It started out great and fresh. There was kind of a story and I was interested. I wanted to know what happened next with the platonic relationship because I thought that was what the show was about. Then episode 6 came out and it's basically about... nothing. Everything they've been building up to doesn't matter anymore. They have useless conversations for minutes and you're like, Yeah, ok ... so what? What is this about?
It would have been a great movie, but unfortunately you have to keep people hooked to put out episodes every week. I loved the connection between the two, but now it's unfunny, boring and stupid, like a romcom you don't care about.
The first 5 episodes where so funny, I actually cried at some points.
The Last of Us: Infected (2023)
Where the masterful tension comes from
At first, the extremely sensitive camera got on my nerves a bit. Then I realised why it gets on my nerves.
You don't have the feeling that these are heavy cameras that move very slowly, like in big productions. You have the feeling that you are a human being, and that creates the tension. Every single moment, the camera could move in a different direction and reveal something terrible to us. And we know that. We know that everything could happen literally every moment, because the context gives us that obvious information. It's very rare to experience this kind of continuous tension, they managed to give it to us.
Black Bird (2022)
An Emotional Blast!
I almost never give 10stars. This is so suspense and emotional, that you can't wait to see what happens next. Taron is my favorite, he's having a great time as an actor ahead. Watch it, if you loved Headhunter and want some serious, emotional rollercoaster.
Hamilton (2020)
The moment I felt in Love!
So this is it now. I'm hyped. Got tickets for london, got the music, got the book. Officially addicted now. It even surpassed my no1 musical west side story. Congrats Lin and Team!
The Flight Attendant (2020)
First great, second meh
As always: >We try something in season one. Let's stay humble. Not too many people. Not too many places. Easy plot, people should follow. In second season we have more money cause people liked the first one. Let's overcomplicate literally everything. They will like it.<
We don't.
Never.
CODA (2021)
Wasn't special. Until it was
It leaves you alone with this feeling of love, that's not romantic. But true. And in it's special way this movie translates love literally without words. Cause it doesn't need them.
The Batman (2022)
Breathtaking
It gives you time to breath. And you will need it. Cause when the movie kicks in, it's like Batman kicking his opponents: You'll need your time to realize, what just happened.
Uncharted (2022)
Expect nothing
You've seen this kind of movies 100x before. Don't expect anything. Its predictable, nothing makes sense, bad humor, super dumb characters. Without Holland being shirtless for 2min this would've been a 3*.
Aladdin (2019)
Everything ... but no heart
The special-effects are superb. The costumes are like never-seen before. Will Smith plays a funny ghost.
And yet...there is no heart. I didn't care about the characters. They're just there. But I don't care about them. And it seems like in the end, everything is just about -do we care about people?-
Maybe that's something the movie gave me.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Empty CGI-Garbage
No story, no plot. All you see is too much obvious and weird CGI and maybe I'm just tired of these movies giving me nothing but computer-power.
So thanks for nothing but too much emptiness.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
Suprisingly good!
Not predictable, superb CGI, great acting, beautiful locations and stunning soundtrack! Didn't expect that tbh!
Clarkson's Farm (2021)
Super comfortable!
I don't know why, I just felt good watching this. It has this "watch and experience another world" feeling. Not much happening tho, but at the same time so much happening.
Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2 (2020)
This is amazing!
Watch this in a row and you'll be amazed by how passionate all of the disney animations workers are. Just amazing!
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
I'm done.
Congratulations Disney. You destroyed my StarWars experience and all memories. Everything what StarWars has been. Everything episode 8 and 4 were masters in. Your a money-machine and you know the points of the viewers you have to press. But making everyone happy with one movie is impossible. And you definitely didn't make me happy. This was my last StarWars movie. I'm done.
