Love the art directing and creative design!
8 March 2022
While the whole story is not much complicated it was fortunately at the same time told the way that kept me, adult engaged from the very first moment. The animation and art directing in general is really great, with very creative and beautiful designs. I often waited for the next scene to also see how it will look like.

Better Than Us (2018–2019)
7/10
Very entertaining
2 November 2020
This is well made show and very entertaining. I watched all the episodes in just a few-days-spree. Sure, plot got some holes (starting from where Arisa is coming from in first place), some behaviors are schematic, some scenes make little sense, but the plot is fine overall, with some nice twists. Acting is good, camera is good, sound is good, F/X are good. futuristic vibe is there. I personally noticed a few opportunities for better twist or story development wasted and but overall I enjoyed this show. WARNING: there're are bloopers added to the credits, just after last episode is over. This ruins the whole episode's mood for me, so you may want to pause the playback after last scene.

Also please note that some reviews mention that you should choose native (russian) voice + subtitles. I am not Russian native, but I can speak the language and I definitely disagree. Beside from some odd translation issues that english version adds to this show, voices in English version are far superior and add significant value to the show. The tone of the voice, the sound - Russian Arisa is no that "robotic" as English one. So do not follow the review. Do not believe me blindly - just check for yourself first. IMHO watching the show in English is still better.

Gravity (2013)
9/10
The script sucks but I still love this movie
7 October 2017
I've seen this movie like 10 times while it was screened in nearby 3D cinema. I wish there is no cheap "tricks" in the script, I wish there is no Clooney nor Bullock in the cast, as they are not adding any value and for me they somehow do the opposite, ruining the experience with their wooden acting. But what I absolutely fancy in this movie is the space and how it is shown. Total silence and the amazing, mesmerizing views. If you dive then you may know what I am talking about - but that's still perhaps 10% of what you experience up there (yes, I wish I could do space dive before I am gone :).

To sum up - watch the movie. Pay less attention to the story but enjoy the space experience. If you can have it in 3D the absolutely go for it.

Taken (I) (2008)
3/10
The reason for doing such movies remains a mystery to me...
17 August 2008
At some point man shall make a decision - keep watching nonsense movies where all good guys can blow a whole city up and nobody say a word, where bad guys are usually morons who can't shoot (also can't think, foreseen and it seems the only reason they live is to be killed by the good guys) etc, or finally give this crap up as enough is enough (even if believed is "entertainment" or by any chance you're American who seem to enjoy this type of movies most).

So if you still enjoy mainstream movies go and watch "Taken". It a big chance you may wake up all the sleeping doubts -> "why?", "how?" and finally "what for?". What are these movies made for... Of course for money. But who will pay us back for 2 hours of our live purely wasted?

Stay brainwashed or give wake up and eventually give it a break.

I gave it 3 stars. It's far too much this movie deserves, but unfortunately we got just 1 to 10 scale, and bigger crap will appear sooner or later, no doubt, so I have to have something in the sleeve then.

Ladies (2008)
4/10
Big disappointment. Unfortunately
9 February 2008
It was pretty fun to watch "Cialo" (Body) by the same team, as well as I found pretty entertaining to watch "Testosteron", which was showing intersex relation from male point of view. "Lejdis" (which comes from misspelled word "ladies") was advertised as female's "Testosteron times four". But they did not managed to deliver what they advertise (or they messed multiplicity with division). The movie is far too long and in fact is boring. There're some funny scenes and quotes but it nothing compared to it's (so called) precursor. So, if you liked "Testosteron" and expect the same fun on Ladies - forget it. The old saying reads you shall always avoid even sequels. So if you consider "Lejdis" to be "Teststeron 2" this seems to be quite true. Let's hope next sequels be any better (which ain't that hard after Lejdis). But, wait. We do not have any more sexes on the planet, do we?

Value your life time. Do not waste for with this movie.
1 January 2008
I am probably not a best person to judge this movie, but "Love and Other Disasters" is one of these titles I felt pity about since it started rolling. After 20 minutes or nonsense scenes, idiotic situation and in general wooden dialogs and acting, I said "enough is enough". I'd probably do this sooner, but I was attempting to watch it with others, so first simply I just thought it's just me and the others may enjoy it that way or another or I may simply need more alcohol to for my brain to start tolerate this 'romantic comedy'. But no. Once I asked nobody was willing to continue the screening. Not even the ladies. No one. They just, as I did, thought that other may like it so they stayed quiet. So we wasted the whole 20 minutes of our lives just to find that out. Anyway I am glad we discovered that earlier than after the movie ended.

Man on Fire (2004)
5/10
Can do, but not necessarily.
12 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Frankly speaking I am not buying the whole story. The main guy is former assassin with the years of experience. So why the heck is Creasy doing so many silly mistakes? Starting the armed crusade against a lot of bad guys and still wearing no bulletproof gear of any kind, especially these guys almost shoot you to death a while before? Professional assassin? And what about running across the city where the corruption is at that scale that nobody is surprised that yet another policeman are involved in another crime? But it's even better - what about running across that city with a guns, shooting down all the bad guys, who are on a top of kind of mob, shooting them in the way everyone see you and know you, and you still do not need to bother anyone chasing you in revenge? Even Rambo had harder times.

True Romance (1993)
3/10
Not really recommended
18 October 2006
Prior watching this movie I took a look at IMDb to see if there's any risk of facing a crap by choosing this title. Score 7 I saw here, was indicating that there's lower chance of such situation (however I've already faced a few movies high ranked here that I simply consider pure waste of time. Matter of taste). So I picked up the movie, hoping that if it become a mess I at least enjoy watching Patricia Arquette.

And I was unfortunately right. The movie is simply a crap. Starting from the silly story, non-convincing acting and stupidity of the main characters - all this makes the movie a disaster. I was watching it, hoping "it will start to make sense on next scene". But it did not. I don't know why ratings are so high here - it says "Tarantino" in the credits, so maybe people think, "Oh, it can't be crap. I just missed the point. It's my fault". And they rate it then - 8, 9, 10(!) for no real reason.

I rated it 4 stars (and I think 3 would be still fair enough): 1 star for Gary Oldman's scene in the club, 2nd star for stoned Pitt scene and last 2 stars for Arquette (but the credits here goes rather for Mother Nature, not for the her "acting" I am afraid).

To summarize: if you love B/C class movies - give it a try (but don't expect the Godzilla in it anyway). Otherwise stay away.

Hi Way (2006)
8/10
If you love xXx-type of movies Hi-Way is not for you. Others will love it
13 May 2006
If you prefer brainless mainstream entertainment type of movies Hi Way may not be for you. If you love and praise fart-like-jokes Hi Way is not for you. Otherwise you shall give this movie a try. Maybe even two or three times.

I personally bought a ticket expecting to see rather big disaster on the screen than anything else, but after the show I left the theater pleasantly disappointed! However the movie has some minor flaws (which one does not have them anyway) it is, in my opinion, pretty funny comedy. Of course, requiring some brain powers from the viewers was a bit risky and appears to be not what everyone loves (I've seen people leaving the theater during the projection), but the creativity of the Mumio members, inventing some pretty absurd jokes simply rules (I don't want to put any spoiler here).

And don't leave the theater when end titles starts. There's a surprise yet.

I'd definitely get me DVD with Hi-Way when it hit the market.

Alternatywy 4 (1986)
8/10
It simply rocks.
21 March 2005
"Alternatywy 4" is cult polish comedy series, created by the state-of-the-art director Stanislaw Bareja. The series simply rocks and I personally laugh my a*ss off every time I watch it and so do friends of mine. However it may not be that funny nor even understandable for non-polish audience (however people from so called "East block" i.e. Russia, Czech, former BRD may find it funny from the scratch due to similar political situation of the 80s in their countries). If you are not familiar with the reality of those times of eighties, you got no clue what socialism was/is, you may find situations pictured in the movie a bit odd or even scary. You have to gain some knowledge about history of Poland to fully enjoy it, to understand all the situations and characters (the main housekeeper rocks ;-), as there're so many details that counts that you can simply overlook most of them. Even the movie title is a specific joke. The movie itself is killer to me and I get me a DVD set for sure. But if you want to fully enjoy this movie let me suggest to watch Alternatywy 4 with someone who would be able to explain you the situations and characters.

Collateral (2004)
3/10
Why you should watch this movie? I got no clue either.
21 March 2005
I must admit it was my first time I trusted IMDb's user ratings and I badly loose. The movie rated 6 and up (and Collateral is now above 7) usually were at least good or semi-entertaining. Unfortunately, Collateral is neither good nor entertaining. The plot brings nothing new - mostly all the 'tricks' have been shown before. The idea bad guy vs. 'trapped' good guy is as boring as foreseeable plot of the movie (and seeing Jada in the very first scenes you know she'll be back as nobody hires a star to play for a minute). You don't have to be too bright to know how the story ends, who kills who, who's the last one and finally who wins. The main characters didn't make me carry they fate at all. No unexpected story twists. Nothing. Oops, no. I lied. We got something - vast amount of simply stupid situations - big shooting here - nobody can hit the target. big shooting - nobody hears - nobody calls the cops. Guy gets a bullet, lies unconscious. Next scene he runs as nothing has happened.

I rated this move with 3 starts, as there have to be movies that deserve less, even this one is just a pure waste of time. I was very disappointed and bored and was glad seeing final credits scroller. The movie brings you simply nothing. It's B class movie at least, so it's a pity they forgot to put some Monster Spiders or kung-fu or naked chicks - it would justify high rating this movie earned here.

Vinci (2004)
7/10
Good but not stunning.
3 October 2004
Vinci is just the next movie of Julusz Machulski, polish director widely known (at least in Poland) as director of quite clever and good comedies and crime-comedies like "Vabank" or "Kiler" (which was best-selling polish comedy years ago), so the genre "Crime" what "Vinci" seems to be classified as is not fully correct. As usual from this director you should rather expect funny crime story type of movie and so "Vinci" is. However, I personally would not call "Vinci" the best movie Machulski ever made, but fortunately all his movies never were time wasters even they were not brilliant. The plot ain't very unique and as you have probably guessed, it's all about most famous painting of Leonardo Da Vinci, and while it's still crime-o-type movie, you may also expect some bad guys sniffing around the painting with thievery in mind. Good acting and funny dialogs are the bright side of this movie, however I'd expect a bit more complicated plot from Machulski. Hopefully you shouldn't get bored but rather enjoy watching this movie.

RRRrrrr!!! (2004)
1/10
Definitely NOT worth a penny.
28 July 2004
Don't be fooled by the name of Alain Chabbat (the director of successful Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatre) as I did. I decided to watch RRRRrrrr! with hope for at least as good entertainment as Asterix gave me and I was totally knocked out. It's totally NOT funny, it's totally NOT entertaining at all. The plot is simply idiotic (or maybe not, but since I'm above 15 I might missed something). So even you got evening to waste, let me suggest you to get drunk or even do nothing at all instead of even considering watching this movie - RRrrr!, in any case, is definitely NOT an option. As for now this is my number one in most crappy movies of 2004 (or maybe of 21th century as for now) and from all the movies I watched lately RRRrrr! was the one which made me feel embarrassed watching it. Rating 1 of 10 is too much for this "masterpiece".
