Coast to Coast (2003 TV Movie)

Fun movie
8 January 2005
This is a funny movie with some smart dialog and a couple adults in adult situations for a change. Thoroughly enjoyable. Dryfus is in control and not doing his "cute" routine. Davis is believable and always nice to see an old vet like Fred Ward. Sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy a movie and be entertained. In an era of movies pandering to functional illiterates with the attention span of a bi-polar humming bird on crank, it's enjoyable to see a movie with people actually speaking to each other in complete sentences. Or if it isn't your style, there is always the latest Ben Stiller movie. I understand there is a hum dinger staring a blind ferret.

Great Thriller
5 December 2004
Having attempted to write suspenseful, original and interesting

scripts, I have a great appreciation for the cleverness of the writing

and ploting in this thriller. So much is truly original and interesting

that I was transfixed watching it unfold. Three cheers for the

writer(s). Only thing that took me out of the film was the shift from what

appears to be New York City for most of the movie, to the power

grid scene, shot in territory I am intimately familiar with, Southern

California desert. Oh well. A small glitch in a wonderful thriller. Great writing, acting and

execution, If you will pardon the pun. JP

Secret Window (2004)
Odds and Ends
4 December 2004
Couple of things. 1. I like Turturo but didn't buy him as the Mississippi hick. 2. Similarities to The Shining: Crazy writer in a remote forested

location has murderous designs on his wife, hears voices and

kills a black guy with an ax. Hmmm. 3. A setup without a payoff: The watch Depp lost on the Bronco's

gear shift disposing of the bodies, was a setup for linking him to

the bodies when they would be later dredged from the lake. Did

the book end Differently? Is it not a setup, but just looks like one? 4. While it appears to be Depp's real hair in the end of the movie.

The first 90% of the movie seems to be a bad, over the top wig. 5. Production flub. When he returns to the cabin and tosses the

black hat on the phone, there is a dent in the crown. When he tries

it on a second later , without smoothing out the crown, the dent in

the hat is missing. 6. This movie wouldn't have gotten made if Steven King's name

was not attached to it. 7. Yawn.

Signs (2002)
He got how much money for writing this movie?

Let me get this straight. 1.Intergallactic travelers who have mastered time and space need

to have some crops mowed down to find out where to land

because they can't figure out GPS? 2. Intergallactic travelers who have mastered time and space need

to poke you with long finger nails and some gas because they are

not bright enough to invent a weapon. How about stopping at the

hardware store and pick up a 12 gauge? 3. Super smart aliens needing a new home and pick the one

planet in the universe that has the most of they find deadly.-water?

4. They want to inhabit a world where at any time, death can rain

down on them in the form of -- well, rain? 5. The world can be saved by loading the local tavern trolls up with

beer and urinating on the antagonists? 6. Can I have my eight bucks back?
