The Goonies (1985)
Silly fun for the pre-adolescent crowd
Pooh on all those naysayers who slammed it as being nothing more than a nostalgia fest. Show it to an 11 yr old today, I bet they'd love it. It must have been fantastic to see in a theater with its energetic score and the many tough spots those kids got themselves into. Despite the many poor decisions they make, somehow they keep surviving,. And there's pirates. Who can resist the lure of pirate treasure? Granted, there is not much of a plot, quite a few things make absolutely no sense. But who needs a plot. This just the sort of fare that can get a youngster's attention and get their own imaginations kick-started.
Delirium (2018)
this movie is sooo bad....
...for so many reasons. However the product is adorably earnest. I couldn't help but smile. It's like when parents have company coming over and the kids put on a show.
The Omega Man (1971)
AND the background musical interludes
This is possibly THE WORST bad movie I've ever seen. Watching for the 3rd time (I wasn't totally paying attention the first 2 times). Sadly, I'm not sure that was the effect they were going for. It felt like there were bits missing. But it really is funny. Charleton Heston gets to take his shirt off. All's right with the world.
World Premiere: American Horror Story: Coven (2013)
surprised by low ratings
This was probably my favorite series. Maybe because the "horror" of it all wasn't so horrible. Guess I'd rather be entranced by voodoo witches than ghosts and freaks.
Manifest (2018)
So bad it was funny
Ridiculous cliche dialogue, plot turns, maybe high school level acting. I've laughed quit a bit.. Kinda sorry to see it go.
Safe: Episode #1.8 (2018)
puzzle piece still missing
Satisfactory enough to keep viewing until the end, but one question remains in my mind. How did Eric know all the details of the "incident" if no one ever spoke of it?
Afflicted (2018)
Reviewers who suffer from chronic conditions seem to be knee-jerk defensive on this
I am only half way through the series, but finding it interesting, and eye opening about the existence of the people who are suffering . Not judgmental or pushing quack-ish treatments at all.
The Fall: Their Solitary Way (2016)
Crossed the bounds of plausibility
Halfway through this episode, and I'm supposed to accept that, after requiring 5 men to subdue him, Spector's handcuffs are removed and he is left to wander about freely.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
It had potential
Nice to look at but horribly disappointing. Plot holes and completely unsatisfactory ending. If you do watch, don't feel like you need to watch the entire series. Almost all of the questions that are raised along the way will remain unanswered.
The Following: Forgive (2014)
If you like finding continuity issues...
...this one's for you. relating to crashing cars and duct tape bondage, to name a couple. This story is so absurd, it reminds me of a daytime soap, only a lot does actually happen, and I daresay there's a great deal more blood here(some cheesy makeup too) I can't stop watching. I can't help thinking that Kevin Bacon must have really needed the money, but he's still cute. Sadly, this role doesn't provide many (any?) opportunities for him to smile.
The Following (2013)
Ridiculous, and yet,,,,,
It amazes me that this show hung on for three seasons. With all the ludicrous plot twists, silly dialog, and implausible character developments, the actors deserve awards for delivering their lines without cracking up. But I did watch the entire Season 1. A testament to Kevin Bacon's appeal, I suppose.
