The Interview is an interesting comedy. It has satire. It has irony.Has some laughs. And of course the controversy.
Seth Rogan and his co star try to keep the comical dialogue going. But there communication sounds very scripted. The Jokes and humour are mediocre.
When the interviewer and Kim Jong Un dialogue we get some deeper elements of this 'fun.' movie.
The portrayal of the media as shallow and unlikeable beast it well represented. And The power of words is saved for the "interview" itself.
The manipulation of the "heroes" is entertaining enough. As is the revelation at the end that this manipulation can be used for a chance of good. The hyper masculine pace of the film is pretty repulsive and for the most lacking of any emotional depth.Should any of this be in a comedy? Well I think Bill Hicks set the standard there. Or say Richard Pyror or Eddie Murphy. The Clowning in this film is from a much more spoilt era.So if a character looses a body part, you may feel like "whatever" Ther golden nugget for me, was can this film encourage people in north Korea to aspire of civil war? Well The us role model are all basking in their Hollywood materialism so the revolution would be aimed at the minority in north Korea who have access to a television? I like that the film has tried to get a political message across. And Will look forward to The Squeal if it is set in Guantanamo Bay and directed by Park Chan-wook
