We live during a time where every single aspect of our daily existence can be documented on Social Media. There are celebrities who are only famous for being famous, or through being an “influencer” on sites like Instagram. Criminals are even caught because they brag about their crimes on Social Media. So, seeing a film like Infamous try and take that to its cinematic extreme, makes sense. Now, the flick itself is fairly mediocre, but the idea at its core is a solid one. With better execution, this could have been something. Instead, it’s just another forgettable effort that can’t live up to its initial promise. The movie is a crime tale, taking some of its cues from Bonnie and Clyde. Here, Arielle (Bella Thorne) is a resident of a small Florida town, yearning for more. She has a tough home life, vacuous friends, and a menial job at a diner.

"How do you think this ends!?" Vertical Entertainment has launched an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Infamous, the latest from filmmaker Joshua Caldwell. This is the next in a new subgenre of dark films where social media fame is the catalyst for some kind of sick activity (also see Spree from this year). Two young lovers rob their way across the southland, posting their exploits to social media, gaining fame and followers as a result. "The two become a modern day viral Bonnie & Clyde steam-rolling towards a tragic ending." Starring Bella Thorne as Arielle, and Jake Manley as Dean, joined by Amber Riley, Marisa Coughlan, Billy Blair, & Robert Peters. This looks especially cheesy and way more about glorifying fame than condemning, at least at first glance. Check it out. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Joshua Caldwell's Infamous, direct from Vertical's YouTube: Arielle is a...

The CW has put a gender-swapped, comedic take on Oscar Wilde’s novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray” into development.
Written by “Super Troopers 2” alum Marisa Coughlan (pictured above), the series centers on a woman who made a deal with the devil to remain young for 50 years and has spent her half-century of youth living carelessly.
Here’s the official logline for the series: “In this poignantly comedic spin on ‘The Portrait of Dorian Gray’ a woman who made a deal with the devil 50 years ago to remain young has spent the subsequent decades living selfishly and without consequences. As the downsides of eternal youth finally land on her, Dorian is ready to grow up and age gracefully, but, to do so, she’ll have to make amends for half a century of bad behavior.”

The CW's Dorian Gray TV series will be a "comedic" adaptation of the classic Oscar Wilde story.
You gotta hand it to The CW: the network is committed to its reimaginings of popular properties, from the comic book world to the literary one. It's been a few years since Beauty and the Beast was on the CW's schedule, which means it may be time for a different show based on classic literary material to make it onto the rotation...
According to Variety, The CW is currently developing a TV series based on the Oscar Wilde novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, which is about an ever-youthful and ever-beautiful young man named Dorian Gray whose portrait becomes increasingly hideous as he himself becomes mean, cruel, and bitter. The portrait becomes a record of the sins, as Dorian Gray's youthful, beautiful facade obscures the terrible human underneath.

Fox Searchlight has released a pair of television spots for the upcoming comedy, Super Troopers 2. My wait for one of my favorite movies to get a sequel is almost over and after a little teaser we now get a full on trailer for Super Troopers 2.
I’ve waited a few years for this but I have to tell you the last few months are killing me. However, this trailer is just the shot of funny I need to take the edge off. Please folks laugh out loud with me at the brand new trailer for those funny dudes from Broken Lizard Super Troopers 2.
Well now we know a little more about the plot. And we all know Canadian stereotypes make any movie funnier. I’m being told by my editor that they don’t, guess I’m in the minoroty and should stop talking as I type. Official synopsis reads.

Focus Features has released the first full-length trailer for ‘Super Troopers 2‘, and it is glorious. The trailer gives us our first full look at the plot of the film, which features Thorny (Jay Chandrasekhar), Foster (Paul Soter), Mac (Steve Lemme), Rabbit (Erik Stolhanske), and Farva (Kevin Heffernan) all returning to settle a border dispute that arises between our heroes and some nearby canadian mounties. The film–which was crowdfunded through an extremely successful indiegogo campaign–comes out 17 years after the release of the original ‘Super Troopers’. During that time, the original film has achieved cult status, so to say that fans of the original (such as myself) are excited for the sequel is an understatement. Although the trailer itself does seem to pander to the audience of the original a little too much, it’s to be expected since the film was literally...

When the opening sequence of the new trailer for Super Troopers 2 involves Farva shooting and killing a bald eagle with a rifle and then expecting to win something for the deed, it's a good bet that the sequel will remain true to its original: jokes and characters are the focus over plot.
Still, the new clip provides some details to the film's storyline. Apparently, a French-Canadian town is found to be in American territory and so the Vermont state troopers are assigned to take over the existing Canadian station...

Fans of Broken Lizard can now mark their calendars as the comedy troupe’s next big screen adventure, Super Troopers 2, is set to be released April 20, 2018. The guys haven’t been seen together in a film since 2009’s The Slammin’ Salmon, in which the usual crew played waiters and chefs. The Original Super Troopers was released 15 years ago and became a cult classic with the ridiculous antics of some not so law-abiding law enforcement officers.
A minute-long teaser for Super Troopers 2 was released today, and from the looks of it, fans are in store for more of what made the first movie great. We see what looks to be some more shenanigans from the guys, as Rabbit, the rookie from the first film who was endlessly hazed, is tied down to a table and the rest of the guys seem to be dead set on helping him out with some manscaping.

The newcomers include Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rob Lowe, Tyler Labine, Will Sasso, and Hayes MacArthur. This actually looks like it's going to be fun, just what the doctor ordered. Sixteen years ago, “Super Troopers” hit theaters. It was mildy diverting, with some funny bits that will live forever on YouTube, but I didn’t imagine anybody would care to see more. Well, there were enough people who wanted a followup, that an Indiegogo campaign was successfully funded, so here we are with “Super Troopers 2.”

Steve Lemme who played Mac in the first Super Troopers had teased during a recent interview that the film would come in “springtime and there’s a very obvious date, which happens to fall on a Friday this year.” Well he sure wasn't kidding. In true Super Trooper form it has been announced that the sequel to the cult classic is hitting theaters on a weed friendly day of 4/20, April 20, 2018.
The much anticipated sequel will see Mac, Thorny (Jay Chandrasekhar), Foster (Paul Soter), Rabbit (Erik Stolhanske), and Farva (Kevin Heffernan) called in to set up a new Highway Patrol station in an area at the center of a border dispute between the U.S. and Canada. “Unconventional police work” will follow.

Looks like the Lizards have made space in their ranks for one more – Deadline reports that How to Be a Latin Lover star Rob Lowe has climbed aboard cop comedy sequel, Super Troopers 2.
After lensing late last year, it’s unclear if Jay Chandrasekhar’s long-anticipated follow-up is still shooting last-minute scenes or, in the more likely scenario, have now set up shop in Boston to capture some additional material. Either way, Lowe is along for the ride, and is attached to the part of play Guy Le Franc, a “former hockey player and the current mayor of a Quebec Canadian border town.”
Plot details are still being kept under lock and key for the crowdfunding darling, after Super Troopers 2 blew past all expectations to secure $4.5 million, comfortably surpassing the initial goal of $2 million. Such success hasn’t gone unnoticed either, after Fox Searchlight swooped in to pick up North American distribution rights.

NBC is working on a new sitcom channeling the world of Peter Pan. The network is developing a 30-minute comedy following the famous characters of the J.M. Barrie tale, Wendy and Peter. Loosely based on the classic story, the modern day re-imagining will be set in an office where the two will share their days together. The single camera series will be told through the eyes of Wendy. The comedy will see Wendy looking for a mature, adult man with the desire to be in a serious relationship. Surprisingly, however, Wendy is drawn to a very immature Peter. The series will be produced by writer Marisa Coughlan, whose life the [ Read More ]

Ahead of this year's upcoming "Peter Pan" live musical broadcast, NBC has picked up the rights to the Peter Pan-inspired single camera comedy "Wendy and Peter" from Le Train Train and Warner Brothers TV.
Loosely inspired by J.M. Barrie's work, the workplace romantic comedy unfolds from the viewpoint of a woman who wants to find love with a real man, but finds herself falling for Peter who refuses to fully embrace adulthood.
Marisa Coughlan will write the script and will executive produce alongside Rashida Jones and Will McCormack.

(Cbr) NBC apparently can’t get enough pixie dust. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that in addition to its live-action "Peter Pan" musical, the network also has a script commitment for "Wendy and Peter," a modern-day retelling of the Wendy/Peter love story — done as a sitcom. The show will be a single-camera workplace/romantic comedy told from the perspective of Wendy. EW reports it will center “on a woman hoping to find love with a real man, but who finds herself falling for Peter, a guy who’s just not quite ready to grow up.” No word on whether either character will ever fly to the break room for coffee or have a dastardly boss named Mr. Hook. The series is said to be inspired by the life of writer and executive producer Marisa Coughlan. Sitcom vets Will McCormack ("Will & Grace") and Rashida Jones ("Parks and Recreation") will also executive produce.

NBC can't get enough of Peter Pan, it seems. While the network is currently underway on a live-action musical version of the classic tale, NBC has now also ordered a modern-day, half-hour comedy loosely based on J.M. Barrie's characters Wendy and Peter. EW has confirmed that NBC has made a script commitment with penalty for a project entitled Wendy and Peter, a single-camera workplace romantic comedy. Told from Wendy's perspective, Wendy and Peter centers on a woman hoping to find love with a real man, but who finds herself falling for Peter, a guy who's just not quite ready to grow up.

In two of her most recent roles, Liv Tyler went to outerspace, and then she was very much trapped on planet Earth. The actress and model took a break in the first decade of the 2000s, but found herself tapped back into film when actor Jack Plotnick decided to direct his first feature “Space Station 76,” a darkly comedic satire of sci-fi movies from the 1970s that has the crew aboard questioning gender, sexual orientation, habits and morals. Plotnick spoke a language that resonated with Tyler, which put her in a role opposite of Patrick Wilson, Matt Bomer, Marisa Coughlan and more in a spaceship with a tiny budget. Then she said “yes” to HBO's “The Leftovers,” which Tyler described as a confluence of all her dream job descriptions. It was regular work, that kept her in New York and close to her son Milo, with a character (Meg) that was a little bit “off.

Earth Below Us: Plotnick’s Debut a Sweet Space Soap Opera
Those familiar with the comedic genius of Jack Plotnick should be thrilled to see his directorial debut, Space Station 76, based on a stage play he co-wrote. Bearing his particular brand of subversive, offbeat humor, it’s a space set soap opera made as if it were in the 1970’s and meant as an homage to those classic films from the time period that inventively attempted to visually prophesize the space age. Regularly featured in the films of Quentin Dupieux and television series, ‘Reno 911,” Plotnick’s perhaps best known for the sorely underrated spoof, Girls Will Be Girls, so many may be surprised at the sometimes melancholy tone underlying this film’s more capricious moments. More of a space age melodrama reflecting nostalgia for a bygone era of storytelling in its mixture of vintage and modern tone, it’s as sweet,...

Liv Tyler and Matt Bomer are space pioneers with major personal problems in the trailer for Space Station 76.
The quirky dark comedy envisions an alternate history of space travel in the vein of a cheesy 1970s television show, with Patrick Wilson as the troubled captain of an intergalactic ship.
The crew of this space station find themselves more concerned with their fractured interpersonal relationships than with their mission.
Annoying robots make their presence known as well, only seeming to make matters worse.
Jack Plotnick - the actor known for playing the deputy mayor in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a Red John suspect in The Mentalist - has directed Space Station 76, in addition to working on the screenplay with a team of writers.
The ensemble cast includes Jerry O'Connell, Kali Rocha and Marisa Coughlan. Space Station 76 opens later this year.

"A female captain?" Say what? The first trailer for a goofy sci-fi 70's spoof called Space Station 76 has debuted thanks to Entertainment Weekly and it's as bad as you would expect for a trailer that debuts on Entertainment Weekly. Despite a solid cast, including Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler, Marisa Coughlan, Matt Bomer, Jerry O'Connell and Kylie Rogers, the jokes fall flat, the dialogue is atrocious, and this looks more like bargain bin crap than a worthy spoof. Seriously, it looks terrible. But maybe it wasn't made for everyone. Take a look below at a 1970s version of the future, where personalities and asteroids collide. Here's the first official trailer for Jack Plotnick's Space Station 76, from EW.com via The Playlist: In a 1970s-version of the future, a group of people and robots living on a space station face inner turmoil when a new assistant captain arrives, sparking tension.

Actor turned director Jack Plotnick is best known for his TV work and his frequent appearances on "Reno 911" and for his directorial debut, he's taking his comedic talents into space. Or so he hopes.
Space Station '76 is a genre comedy spoof about the shenanigans of a group of people living on a space station and the new female captain that arrives on board. Starring Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler, Matt Bomer and Marisa Coughlan, Plotnick's feature debut actually looks pretty great, taking us back to the 70s vision of the future. As expected, there are all sorts of familiar reference points and though the trailer isn't laugh out loud funny, it is amusing and suggests that this might be one to keep an eye on. Watch: Trailer For Sci-Fi Spoof 'Space Station 76' Starring Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler And Matt Bomer
The genre comedy/spoof is a tricky one to pull off. Hell, just ask Seth MacFarlane, who tried it with "A Million Ways To Die In The West." Needless to say, Jack Plotnick has his work cut out for him with "Space Station 76," but the first trailer reveals something whose ambitions are modest, while keeping a sharp eye on the jokes. Starring Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler, Matt Bomer and Marisa Coughlan, the film is set in a '70s version of what the future would look like, and follows a group of humans and robots, living in a space station, who find things turned upside down the arrival of new Assistant Captain. This is more carefully crafted than you might expect, with some pretty great set and costume design to be found within. And it looks like it's actually funny as well, which is the top priority for a movie like this.

Matt Bomer and Marisa Coughlan premiered their new film Space Station 76 at SXSW and spoke to Uinterview about their characters and how fun it was to make a spin on a period film.
Space Station 76 takes place in the 1970’s version of the future, essentially transplanting ‘70s culture and style into a futuristic setting – the space station.
“I play Ted, who is the mechanic on the space station,” Bomer revealed. “Much like a mechanic, he wants to fix everything. He is just the kind of guy who no good deed goes unpunished.”
Bomer and Coughlan play husband and wife in the sci-fi dramedy.
“He’s trying to do the right thing and do his best by his wife and their child, and it’s just not working out for him,” Bomer said.
“And I play a very disappointed wife,” Coughlan added, laughing.

The retro-kitsch appeal inherent to “Space Station 76” is palpable from its star-gazing opening credits, rendered as they are in Gill Sans font (think “2001: A Space Odyssey”) with state-of-the-art CGI effects modeled on the miniature work of yesteryear. What follows is a sci-fi soap opera seemingly borne from the 1970s and only now seeing a release, and for a good while, that novelty alone seems strong enough to carry the film. The titular spacecraft is helmed by Glenn (Patrick Wilson), a brash captain who’d rather be left alone by his new second-in-command, Jessica (Liv Tyler), and the station’s populace in general. Among the ship’s residents are overworked mechanic Ted (Matt Bomer), his wife Misty (Marisa Coughlan) and their daughter Sunshine (Kylie Rogers), along with Steve (Jerry O’Connell)—with whom Misty is having an affair—wife Donna (Kali Rocha) and their newborn child. Space Station 76 begins with a narration musing on the impermanence and isolation of asteroidal paths. It’s the overarching metaphor in a film that is hilariously set in a nostalgic, 1970s version of the future and populated with hurt, dysfunctional, and yearning characters.
Glen (Patrick Wilson) is the alcoholic, abrasive, and suicidal captain of the Omega 76; Jessica (Liv Tyler) is new aboard and although much more competent than her counterparts, she is struggling with her own maternal inabilities; Ted (Matt Bomer) is an earnest but naive mechanic who lives with Misty (Marisa Coughlan), his philandering wife, and their lonely, precocious daughter Sunshine (Kylie Rogers).
