The "Taken" series became famous for an oft-spouted line from Liam Neeson's character, Bryan Mills, about his "particular set of skills" that make him a ruthless ass-kicking machine, and now, a new series from NBC will explore just how he acquired those skills.
Deadline reports that the network is developing a series centered around Bryan Mills as a young man -- no wife and daughter yet -- and how he eventually obtains his thuggish abilities. It's a direct homage to the line Neeson uttered in 2008's "Taken," when he tells one of the men suspected of having kidnapped his daughter, "What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career; Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you."

Because no movie with a number in its title can just leave well enough alone, "Taken 3" has officially been re-branded as "Tak3n" -- and could be the final film in the franchise.
USA Today revealed the title switcheroo in a first look at the flick and a profile of its star, Liam Neeson. No word on whether the actor is renaming himself Liam N33son for the occasion.
But Neeson did drop a different bomb during his interview with the paper, noting that he thinks it may be time for the "Taken" franchise to end once "Tak3n" hits theaters.
"It's a rollicking good story," Neeson told USA Today of the third flick in the series. "But I think this is the end."
Of course, studio 20th Century Fox will probably have the last word on that, but it seems that "Tak3n" will spell the end of Neeson's involvement in the franchise.

Last Christmas I wrote a little essay entitled: “A Holiday Message from Ricky Gervais: Why I’m an Atheist.”
The Wall Street Journal ran it, and it caused quite a stir. I was even asked to answer some of the comments.
So for Easter I thought I’d do another one. Here it is.

I’m not going to lie—when I heard about the premise for The Invention Of Lying, I couldn’t believe that Ricky Gervais, not Jim Carrey, was starring it. The set-up seemed formulaic. The story predictable romantic comedy fodder. The chubby guy gets the good-looking girl love story inevitable. To be brutally honest, as a huge fan of Gervais’ The Office (one of the best TV series ever) and an admirer of Extras, The Invention Of Lying showed every sign of the very talented Gervais trying to make a mainstream, commercial, feel-good romantic comedy. There’s nothing wrong with that. And, truth be told, The Invention Of Lying is a mainstream, commercial, feel-good romantic comedy. But it’s also a little more than that. And it’s also very funny.
So why the hell is Starlog reviewing a romantic comedy? Well, The Invention Of Lying is a romantic comedy Fantasy.

Chicago – Last week, the writer/director of “Extract,” Mike Judge, took some time with HollywoodChicago.com to discuss his many comedic creations from the characters of “Office Space” to “King of the Hill,” “Beavis and Butthead,” and, now, “Extract”.
In my role as a film critic, I’m regularly asked why there aren’t more good comedies out there. It feels like people want more quality laughs. And yet, the box office of the very good “Extract” this weekend, starring Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, Kristen Wiig, Ben Affleck, and J.K. Simmons is a massive disappointment. Go out and see it before it’s gone.
“Extract” is clearly the blue-collar response to the white-collar comedy of the cult hit “Office Space,” even if Judge seems more sympathetic to (and admits he’d rather work on) the factory floor than the cubicle world. In fact, Judge considered making it right after his...
