Ashlee Simpson-Ross and Evan Ross are baring it all on stage, but is it worth the gamble? After a sketchy soundcheck, Ashlee questions if performing their new music live is a good idea in this clip from Sunday's season finale of Ashlee+Evan. "There's definitely a lot of responsibility I feel towards making sure that everything goes well when it comes to the work me and Ashlee are doing," Evan admits to the camera. "Especially since she hasn't been back doing this for 10 years. There's a lot at stake there and there's a lot of wanting things to go right." Amidst the chaos of rehearsal and soundcheck, Ashlee turns to her dad Joe Simpson for a little...

Joe Simpson is a fighter. In this clip from Sunday's all-new Ashlee+Evan, Ashlee Simpson-Ross meets with her father to discuss life after surviving cancer. While the former dadager is thankfully prostate cancer-free following radiation treatments, he is well aware how his health scare could've taken a tragic turn. "The biggest part is, because I don't have testosterone, I just don't have energy," Joe relays to Ashlee. "So you have to power through." According to the Simpson patriarch, a doctor once gave him only six months to live if he didn't go through with a life-saving surgery. This revelation forced Joe to "wrestle" with the idea of saying goodbye to his loved...

“There’s much we can’t see, detect or comprehend, yet we spend our lives trying to get to the heart of this dark energy.” That’s the chilling threat at the start of the first clip (above) for Carol Morley’s Patricia Clarkson-fronted neo-noir detective drama Out of Blue.
The film, which is based on Martin Amis’ novel, plays in the Platform section of Tiff and premieres on Friday September 7 at 9:30pm in the Winter Garden Theater.
Clarkson plays Mike Hoolihan in the neo-noir metaphysical mystery. She’s a homicide detective called to investigate the shooting of leading astrophysicist and black hole expert, Jennifer Rockwell. But once on the case, she’s affected in ways she struggles to comprehend.
Jacki Weaver, James Caan, Toby Jones, Aaron Tveit, Mamie Gummer, Jonathan Majors and Devyn A Tyler also star in the crime drama from the helmer of The Falling.

Just hours after a report broke that Jessica Simpson’s dad was having an affair with another man, Joe and Tina Simpson have confirmed their split.
"Tina and Joe Simpson have filed for divorce," a rep for the family tells me. "It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved. Any other related allegations are completely false. The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time."
And while news of the breakup may come as a surprise to the public, insiders say the marriage has been in trouble for a long time.
"Papa Joe and Tina just grew apart," one insider tells me. "The marriage was held together by their daughters' careers. Joe handled the music side and Tina the fashion. But as both Jessica and Ashlee's music careers came to an end, Jessica's fashion business took off suddenly. It was Tina that was in charge.

Most recently, Ashlee Simpson was reported expecting her second child with hubby Pete Wentz. Jessica Simpson proved to be both a tourist and an attraction during a visit to Nashville Wednesday. The singer-actress, 28, surprised fans with an unannounced autograph session at the Block Party kicking off the annual Cma Music Festival. Although she did not perform, her music played – specifically, her new song "Come on Over," the leadoff single from her as-yet-untitled first country album, due in the fall. Later that night – clad in black short-shorts, a white shirt, a fitted black blazer and high heels – Jessica joined dad Joe Simpson and some others at Lime, a hip new Latin fusion restaurant in midtown Nashville.

There will be an additional day of shooting on ABC's drama pilot Women's Murder Club.
The pilot's crew, led by director Scott Winant, and star Angie Harmon will return to film a scene that has been added to help clarify the plot in the crime mystery drama based on James Patterson's series of books.
The pilot, written by Liz Craft and Sarah Fain, originally was supposed to be directed by Brett Ratner, who dropped out after his Rush Hour 3 didn't wrap on time and its filming schedule was extended. Ratner, who was instrumental in the development of Women's, continues to executive produce the pilot with The Shield creator Shawn Ryan, Patterson, Craft, Fain and Joe Simpson.
It is unusual though not unprecedented for additional shoots to be done on a pilot before it is presented to the network. Because of the high cost associated with extra days of filming, it is mostly done on high-profile projects that studios and networks feel strongly about.

Joe Simpson is not only managing the careers of his famous daughters Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson, he has also become their official photographer. The elder Simpson has reportedly struck a deal with celebrity picture service WireImage to control what images are being sent out to the media and has resorted to taking the photos himself. According to Radar Online, Simpson has been seen interfering with other photographers trying to get shots of his daughters and then approving only his own images for distribution through the photo agency. At other times, he has provided the agency with exclusive and even racy shots of his daughters on family holidays. According to one photographer who was repeatedly blocked by the camera-wielding patriarch at an event, "I thought it was really odd that he was always in my way, since I was the one who was paid to be there shooting." The photographer claims he finally did manage to get a few shots, but only photos approved by Simpson were eventually deemed worthy of distribution.

Pop beauty Ashlee Simpson's manager and father Joe Simpson has changed the gay plot in her movie debut Wannabe, because he's uncomfortable with his daughter playing a lesbian. The former Baptist minister fears the star's chances of breaking into Hollywood would be hampered if she played a homosexual, so he ordered movie producers to alter the romantic comedy's script, reports American gossip site Pagesix.Com. He explains, "I changed it. It doesn't work for her to be gay the first thing out. She said, 'But it's cool, it's edgy, it's different,' and of course the filmmakers were like, 'It's cool for a woman to be a lesbian.' She's going to be a huge movie star. She's like Meg Ryan or Cameron Diaz, with probably more depth. When we're done, she'll play it all."...
