Review of Kadosh

Kadosh (1999)
7/10
A powerful and emotive story. Very much worth seeing.

The story of two sisters living within the Hassidic community in Jerusalem. The film focuses on the suffering of women within Orthodox Judaism and how the two sisters each react to their different situation. A very powerful and emotive story, arousing strong emotions of pity and anger and even (I have to admit to myself) feelings of revulsion and intolerance towards such extreme Orthodox views and practices. At times slow and ponderous, it is nevertheless very much worth seeing.
