As one who has never served in the field of fire - I've always had the greatest respect for those who have. I don't think anyone can imagine the absolute horror when involved in close combat where blood is spilled and close comrades die. With Jarhead 2 I remained fully focused throughout.The plot is surely influenced by the events of the current time surrounding the real life story of Malala Yousafzai,shot by the Taliban for her outspoken thoughts on womens rights in Afghanistan.
I felt a real passion for the marine characters in the movie - dedicated to each other and their evolving mission.
One of the ending scenes between the marine & Afghan fighter fighting dying in a hail of bullets was somewhat reminiscent of Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
