Comedy impressionist John Byner pokes fun at Ed, comedienne Totie Fields presents a monologue and comic Jackie Mason makes the first of six scheduled appearances. Ed presents Antonio Gades and his Spanish ballet, which recently completed a summer engagement at the World's Fair.

A group of Irish boy singers from County Wexfort, John F. Kennedy's ancestral home, pay tribute to the late President by singing two of his favorite songs: "The Boys of Wexford" and "Kelly, the Boy from Killane." Ray Bloch conducts the orchestra.

Vaughn Monroe sings "Queen of the Senior Prom" and a medley of hits. Byron Janis (concert pianist) performs "Toccata." Antoinette Sibley and Anthony Dowell (from London's Royal Ballet) dance the pas de deux from "The Dream." Les Doubles Faces (pantomime artists) give a pantomime performance as a man appears to be throwing around a disembodied head. Ed Sullivan interviews actors Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis, with movie clip from "The Great Race".

The West Point Glee Club sings a medley of Civil War songs ('When Johnny Comes Marching Home," "Tramp, Tramp, Tramp (The Boys Are Marching)," "Yellow Rose of Texas," "Tenting Tonight," "Dixie" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic") and Irving Berlin's "This Is the Army Mr. Jones."
