a bouquet of roses

a doctor, a taxi driver and a story. not impressive, too moralistic, full of large slices of fake , usual for Communist cinema but, in strange way, honest.the secret - like in many other cases - the cast. great actors - Toma Caragiu and Radu Beligan are just legends -, art to transform a not inspired script in a nice entertainment, the years who separates the film by our time, nostalgia and few drops of passeisme makes it decent work. and this is only important fact. and chance for many Romanians movies before 1989 . the message is regarded with indulgence. the strange dialogs - as testimony about a society. the music - as sparkle from another world. a man who discovers sense of existence, a driver who becomes wise confessor, a brother who gives clues for right way of happiness. all is simple. so, almost nice.

like many films under the communism, it is nice and fake and strange.a good idea compromised by the script, saved by actors. not the most inspired dialogues. moralistic. very simple. full of clichés who must inspire values of political regime. in same measure, a not bad parable about the sense of life. Toma Caragiu , as the taxi driver Pascu, in one of his most touching roles. Colea Răutu as the brother of famous doctor, realistic and almost seductive. and, sure, the flowers send by mysterious character. a film like many others from the Romanian cinema before 1990 . for a part of its public, a sentimental trip. for the others, a proof about a slice of contemporary history. short, good intentions. not great script. and remarkable cast.
