A new director is born, he's talentful

If Djamel Bensalah reads it, he can write me because I have many things to tell him, positive things. If the screenplay is not very tough, we see with the way of directing of that new director that there is something very new, with many ideas of directing, as the scene where the heroes are in the nightclub, in order to show that they're boring, he did a reference to IAM's videoclip "je danse le mia" or the reference to old movies, when Hollywood movies were good movies (except this year with "The mask of Zorro", very honest) like "Casablanca". But sometimes, when it's filmed with hand camera, the result is sometimes under the average quality of the movie and some people may find it exhausting. Then the acting is quite correct, but we also see Jamel Debbouze, but different than in his weekly prestations in "H" and "NPA1", but there are new actors that we ought to watch out for the future.

A touching portrayal of inner-city kids glimpsing another side of life.

This film believably portrayed the mix of intrigue and confusion in a group of teenage boys as they discover a very different side of France to the life they know in an inner-city melting pot. Their laughter and squabbles recalled youthful trips of my own. It also handled sensitively the attraction between one of the boys, a Muslim, and a middle-class Jewish girl. All in all, a fine display.

Refreshing use of language. This talkative flick won't be remembered for its cinematography, but for its promising actors and director.

I would watch more of those. If Double indemnity could be compared to a jazz trio, this flick would be to an energic rap poet. Pleasurable and probably under-screened outside French borders.

What a refreshing film! Bensalah is now on my list of directors to watch.

This flick is funny. I mean, really funny. Coming from someone who only smiles when a flick is reputed funny, the comment must be taken seriously.

If only I could write Bensalah, I'd thank him for it.
