Exclusive: Few actors will have put their bodies through as much for a role as Tim Realbuto who lost a record 154 lbs for movie Bobcat Moretti.
In the recently wrapped U.S. indie feature, Realbuto plays an obese Ms patient who takes up his late father’s sport of boxing to overcome personal tragedy and help find inner peace. Vivica A.Fox (Kill Bill), Taryn Manning (Orange Is The New Black), Matt Peters (Orange Is The New Black), Matt McCoy (Jack Ryan), Mindy Sterling (Austin Powers), rapper Coolio and Oscar-nominee Sally Kirkland (Anna) also star in the feature, whose first trailer is above. When filming began in late 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Realbuto weighed close to 400 lbs. After finishing part one of the film, the production took almost a year off to give the actor time to lose the weight needed for part two. When cast and crew reconvened...

The cinematic and literary equivalent of Thomas Kinkade, the work of Nicholas Sparks is all formulaic golden hues and Hallmark sentiments, seemingly spoon-fed annually to a consistent audience of folks who believe in love conquers all. You already know if you'll be seeing "The Best Of Me," but if you're still somehow on the fence or simply curious, the first trailer has arrived. Michael Hoffman ("The Last Station," "One Fine Day," "The Emperor's Club") directs this one, which stars Luke Bracey, Liana Liberato, James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan, and tells the story of two attractive young people who love each other but can't be together because... the south?... but wind up reunited twenty years later for more jumping in lakes or whatever and definitely more sex. Hot. But really, this is more margarine-lensed hokum with surely a Sparks-ian twist somewhere in there. But don't ask us, because we never read the book and never will.

Almost a year ago, it was revealed that Paul Walker was cast as the title character in "Agent 47," which is a sequel/reboot of the "Hitman" movie, which was released in 2007 with Timothy Olyphant as the lead. Since then, Walker has passed away. And now comes word that director Aleksander Bach has cast Rupert Friend, who is best known for playing CIA Agent Peter Quinn on "Homeland," as the lead in "Agent 47." Even though Walker was a more well-known actor, "Agent 47" producers believe that the franchise is popular enough to cast someone who isn't known to a general audience. Meanwhile, Walker was also set to play the lead in "The Best of Me," the upcoming Nicholas Sparks adaptation to be directed by Michael Hoffman (The Emperor's Club). That role has now been re-cast, bringing on James Marsden to take over.

The sun rises, the sun sets and another Nicholas Sparks book is being turned into a movie, and this time it's "The Best Of Me." Michelle Monaghan has booked a leading role in the flick, that follows a pair of middle-aged former flames, now leading different lives, who rekindle their young romance, when a funeral in their hometown brings them together. Aww. Michael Hoffman ("The Last Station," "One Fine Day," "The Emperor's Club") is directing the flick which has a home at Relativity. Tell your Mom this is happening, she'll be thrilled. [THR] From barely tolerable, to "Barely Lethal," the Hailee Steinfeld starring action comedy is bolstering its cast. "The Kings Of Summer" star Gabriel Basso has joined the movie about "a 16-year-old assassin who fakes her own death in pursuit of a normal adolescence." Basso has the best friend role and joins the already cast Jessica Alba and Sophie Turner...

Now middle-aged and leading different lives, a couple from opposite sides of the tracks rekindle their young romance, when a funeral in their hometown brings them together. If this all sounds vaguely familiar, that's because it's yet another Nicholas Sparks adaptation, a man who has turned formulaic and manipulative romances into a cottage industry of crap. Warner Bros. is behind this latest venture, picking up the rights when Sparks pitched it to them before he even wrote the book (because why bother writing it, if it's not going to be spawned into a movie, right?). This time around Michael Hoffman, the thoroughly adequate helmer behind fare such as "The Last Station," "One Fine Day," The Emperor's Club" and the upcoming "Gambit" is helming the picture. Will Fetters, who has experience dealing with Sparks' pablum, having penned this year's "The Lucky One," is being courted to rewrite the first draft by J.

Cameron Diaz must be one happy woman right now. How could she not be? After all, she's now attached to co-star alongside Colin Firth in the upcoming remake of "Gambit." The original was released in 1966 starring Shirley MacLaine and Michael Caine.Joel and Ethan Coen penned the remake set to be directed on the big screen by Michael Hoffman. Hoffman's previous directing credits include "The Emperor's Club" and the Oscar nominated film "The Last Station."The story centers on a London art curator (Firth) who plans to con a wealthy collector into buying a phony Monet painting. He enlists a Texas steer roper (Diaz) to pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of World War II. After what is close to a decade of trying to get this remake off the ground, things are looking good for Gambit. Only weeks after signing Michael Hoffman to direct, producers are attempting to lasso the future Oscar nominated Best Actor in Colin Firth (for The King's Speech) which means producers will likely attach a female protag that is somewhat more suave than previously announced actresses (Jennifer Aniston was once mentioned). At this point, Firth is in talks - but financing is in place and their hope is to get the picture shooting in London and Texas before summer. Gist: They'll have to seriously modernize the screenplay, this is based on the 1966 British caper pic that starred Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine. That film revolved around a British thief who comes up with a fool-proof plan to steal an expensive statue from one of the richest men in the world.

What gives political sex scandals their queasy, car-crash intrigue is what they say about our society. And in America, from Andrew Jackson's Petticoat Affair (a sex scandal with no sex), to the case of John Edwards, his videographer, his cancer-stricken wife, and a failed campaign, sex scandals are usually very much of a time, era, and place, reflecting our most craven instincts back to ourselves in a fun house mirror. In the case of former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, his downfall - the "sheriff of Wall Street"-turned-Client 9 from The Emperor's Club; sleeping with prostitutes like Ashley Dupre while leaving his black socks on; resigning the minute the story broke - was swift and particularly ironic, cutting short a charmed and once-promising political career. It's the "cut short" part that drives Alex Gibney's new documentary on the scandal, Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer.

This morning, we presented to you images from the GQ photo-spread of Lea Michelle and Dianna Agron, which involved the very dated and trite school-girl uniform cliché, even though they don't wear school uniforms on "Glee" (talk about misrepresentation!).
The recurring complaints about those images were 1) that Lea Michelle is trying too hard; 2) that the photographer, Terry Richardson, has a pedophilia obsession; 3) the sexy school girl thing is done; and 4) why isn't Cory Montieth dressed suggestively? You know, for the ladies to pant over, and the men to complain about?
I wanted to do you all a solid, and turn the cliché around by featuring the most suggestive school boy uniform images I could find from popular culture. Unfortunately, the school boy uniform doesn't really lend itself to suggestiveness. Boys in uniforms in the spread eagle pose just doesn't have the same Joie de vivre. In this respect, women got fucked on the turnabout.

"Aunt Juliane is one of those people who feels her place is to help those in her community and family," says Helen Carey of her role in Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway production of Hedda Gabler. "The pitfall is that she can sound saccharine, self-important, advertising her nature, advertising her good deed. It's easy to fall into the trap of sounding not genuine but sanctimonious."Hedda's aunt-in-law is also a bit of a busybody. "Whether the character I'm playing is wearing a black hat or a white hat," Carey says, "I try to give them legitimacy. No one wakes up in the morning and says, 'How am I going to invade someone else's life or ruin someone's day?' They justify their own needs or inclinations. They think they're doing it for the greater good. To give legitimacy to a busy or a needy aunt is the job of the actor.

Gus Van Sant's Milk boasts one of the best ensemble casts this year. In addition to Sean Penn's phenomenal performance as Harvey Milk, James Franco, Josh Brolin, and Emile Hirsch all shine in their supporting roles as well. After seeing Milk a few weeks back, I sat down with Emile Hirsch to chat about playing curly haired gay activist Cleve Jones. Coincidentally, our writer Kevin sat down for an interview with the real Cleve Jones a few days later. So today I present the second part in our set of interviews this week - this time with the actor who brought Jones and his personality to life on the screen. Hirsch and I talk about working with Gus Van Sant, San Francisco, and even a little bit about Speed Racer, so read on. I've been fond of Emile ever since The Emperor's Club in 2002, but have really seen...

Beacon Pictures announced a $250 million credit facility Wednesday, securing the last piece of a financing strategy that will allow the independent film company to expand its slate and increase its financial flexibility. Led by JPMorgan Chase, the facility will be used to finance a slate of 25 pictures during the next five years. Beacon, a unit of Holding Pictures Distribution Co. Llc., will co-finance films primarily with Walt Disney Studios, with which it signed a five-year co-financing and distribution deal in December (HR 12/13). The company, headed by chairman Armyan Bernstein and CEO Charlie Lyons, also intends to work with other studios on co-production and co-financing arrangements. "We used to finance our movies one at a time," said Bernstein, whose films include Open Range, The Emperor's Club, Spy Game and Bring It On. "We want to step up the volume, and in order to have the volume, you need a credit line."...

Camilla Belle is in negotiations to star opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role of IFC Films' Rose and the Snake for writer-director Rebecca Miller. Up-and-coming actor Paul Dano (The Emperor's Club) also will star in the film, with Beau Bridges making an appearance in a small but pivotal role. He just completed shooting New Regency's The Girl Next Door and will next play the lead in the indie film Light and the Sufferer for writer-director Chris Peditto. Bridges is also repped by CAA.
