The second season of Goosebumps at Disney+ has cast David Schwimmer in a lead role.
The Emmy-nominated Friends star will head the cast of the show, based on R.L. Stine’s hugely popular series of books. Disney+ renewed Goosebumps for a second season in February, opting to turn the show into an anthology rather than continuing the story from season one.
Following Schwimmer’s casting, Disney+ announced that Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty, Love Victor), Sam McCarthy (Dead to Me), Jayden Bartels (Side Hustle), Elijah Cooper (That Girl Lay Lay), Galilea La Salvia (Party Down) and Francesca Noel have also joined the series.
The season two logline reads, “Teenage siblings discover a threat stirring, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.”

HBO has consistently put out most of the greatest television of the last 20 years. There’s no denying the quality of shows such as The Wire, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Veep, Carnivàle, Deadwood, The Jinx and Boardwalk Empire. Whether it’s drama, documentaries or comedies, they’ve been blowing minds on a very consistent basis. Of course the network has green-lit some absolute duds in its time too – Lucky Louie, Little Britain USA and Arli$$, just to name a few – but its hit-rate is genuinely impressive.
But what about those shows that proved ridiculously popular, that were (or are) either commercially successful or critically adored, despite their lack of substance and their generic style? There are so many series that were celebrated more because of their creators, or simply because of their presence on such a revered network, rather than the content produced. Sketch comedy is one of the hardest forms of comedy to do well. You only have a few minutes to get each character and joke right and it can be difficult to keep a recurring sketch from becoming too one-note and repetitive. As well as that, there can be an overreliance on catchphrases or just a general misjudgement of what makes good sketch comedy.
And, obviously, because of that there are always sketch shows that are complete stinkers. Thankfully they usually disappear quickly and we don’t miss them. And these sketch shows are prime examples of why…

David Schwimmer Working On Adaptation Of 'The Jungle' By 'There Will Be Blood' Author Upton Sinclair
Aside from Jennifer Aniston, of all the "Friends" alumni, David Schwimmer seems to have best utilized the career boost he received thanks to the long-running hit sitcom. He has used the opportunity of opened doors to take a chance behind the camera, and while the results have been mixed at best--"Run Fatboy Run" managed to make Simon Pegg unfunny while internet scare drama "Trust" has its defenders; he's also been behind six episodes of "Little Britain USA"--his ambition certainly isn't lacking and his project may be his grandest yet. In a recent webchat with Empire readers, Schwimmer revealed what he's…...

David Schwimmer returns to Toronto with "Trust," his hard-hitting follow-up to his comedic directorial debut, "Run, Fatboy, Run," which premiered at Tiff in 2007. "Trust" stars Clive Owen and Catherine Keener as parents dealing with the aftermath of an attack on their daughter by an online sexual predator.
The Hollywood Reporter: This is not an easy topic to tackle. What drew you to this?
David Schwimmer: I first got the idea seven years ago when this father spoke at the annual fundraiser for this rape foundation. He spoke very openly and frankly to an audience of about 900 people about his experience when his daughter was brutally raped. And it was so devastating to me to hear a father who was obviously a regular guy, a professional, with a happy family, three kids. And so normal. And to hear him speak about what happened to him and the conflicting feelings of guilt,...

Picture it: You're in the midst of a stellar audition. You're in the moment, creating a memorable character, capturing every nuance and beat of a beautifully written script. Then the unthinkable happens: You flub a line. What to do next?"You should own it," says casting director G. Charles Wright, whose credits include "That '70s Show" and "The Middle." "Most actors, because they have stage experience, when they mess up a line, they just keep going because that's what you would do on the stage. But [you should] really take a second and go back a line and say, 'Let me take that back.' That's part of being present."Actor Kurt Long, who has appeared on "Bones" and "How I Met Your Mother," notes that he usually uses this approach, because "most [casting directors] are very critical about the word and what's been written down there for the character." That said, he acknowledges...

David Schwimmer is probably fairly comfortable behind the camera after filming 10 episodes of Friends during its 10-year life span, a further two episodes of its middling spinoff , a handful of Little Britain USA and the 2007 Simon Pegg comedy Run, Fat Boy, Run. But his latest project seems to be a different beast altogether - a dark revenge thriller called Trust, the early promo trailer for which has come online today.
If you saw Taken with Liam Neeson then you'll get the idea of what Trust is about. Clive Owen and Catherine Keener star as a married couple with the perfect suburban life and family. They are unphased when their teenage daughter Annie begins chatting to a 16-year-old boy called Charlie online, but when Annie and Charlie arrange to meet in person, the once safe and secure family home is shattered - Charlie is actually a 40-year-old pedophile (Tom McCarthy) and...

Considering that his directorial history includes a load of Friends episodes, Simon Pegg vehicle “Run Fat Boy Run” and Little Britain USA, David Schwimmer’s new outing as director represents a significant departure and perhaps therefore something of a gamble.
“Trust” stars Clive Owen and Catherine Keener as the parents of a 14 year-old girl played by Liana Liberato, who they are horrified to find has been victimized by an adult who gained her trust posing as a teenager in a chat room.
Thanks to Coming Soon, we now have the trailer for Trust, which you can view below. Needless to say, it represents a considerable shift in tone from Schwimmer’s previous output, however the trailer at least suggests that he is comfortable in this unfamiliar territory. Trust is due out later this year.

"Alice in Wonderland" star Matt Lucas is reportedly selling the London home he once shared with his tragic ex-partner. The "Little Britain USA" funnyman is still struggling to come to terms with the sudden death of his ex-husband Kevin McGee, who was found hanged at his Edinburgh, Scotland apartment in October 2009. The couple tied the knot in a civil partnership in 2006 before parting ways in 2008.
Now he's hoping to escape some of the painful memories by getting rid of the London apartment he and McGee purchased together. A source tells Britain's The Sun, "Matt is selling because he wants to move on."
"He bought the flat with Kevin. While he has many happy memories of their time there, it is also very sad for him. He feels he should sell so he can start with the next phase of his life." Lucas is believed to be house-hunting in both Los Angeles and London.

David Schwimmer has told his girlfriend, Zoe Buckman, that he'll be there for her -- for good.
The former "Friends" star, 43, and Buckman, a 24-year-old photographer, are engaged. It will be the first marriage for both.
The two met in London in 2007 when Schwimmer was working on "Run Fatboy Run," his feature-film directorial debut (he's also directed episodes of "Friends" and "Little Britain USA") and have been together ever since.
There's no word yet on a wedding date, but we have to wonder: Will Joey, Chandler, Rachel, Monica and Phoe ... er, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow be on the guest list? (Also, note to Mr. Schwimmer: Make sure you say "Zoe" and not "Rachel" during the ceremony.)

Clive Owen and Catherine Keener will topline the dark drama Trust, which marks David Schwimmer's first foray into the non-comedic directorial world.
Schwimmer has directed several comedy TV shows in his time, most notably Friends, Joey and Little Britain USA, and his feature directorial debut was in 2007 with the comedy Run Fatboy Run, starring Simon Pegg. His new film, Trust, will pose a new challenge for him, telling the story of a couple (Keener and Owen) who are shocked to discover that their teenage daughter (played by Liana Liberato) has been victimized by a sexual predator whom she met in an online chat room.
Filming begins this November, so presumably the film will be released some time next year.

It appears that David Schwimmer is leaving the comedy genre for his latest directorial project, Trust, a dark drama starring Clive Owen and Catherine Keener. (And yes, typing out that last sentence did seem a bit trippy.) Owen and Keener will play parents who are shocked to learn that their teenage daughter (played by Liana Liberato) has been victimized by a sexual predator who she met in an online chat room. The film will explore the impact of that event on their family life. Schwimmer certainly isn't the first person I'd think of to take on a project like this. His first feature, Run Fatboy Run, was a mess of a comedy that even the likes of Simon Pegg and Dylan Moran couldn't save. He's most recently been working on the Little Britain USA series (which is apparently good, but I haven't seen), and he's also had previous experience TV...

Who would ever thought that David Schwimmer would helm some drama? Between acting gigs like Friends, helming 10 episodes of the hit show, directing Run Fatboy Run, and even picking up 6 episodes of Little Britain USA, he seemed to be completely focused on comedy. Yet now Variety reports that he will direct Clive Owen and Catherine Keener in a new "dark drama" called Trust.

Chicago – It’s a vastly overused phrase in criticism, but MTV’s “The State” truly was ahead of its time. I remember seeing the show in its original broadcast on MTV and thinking it was like nothing else on television. Now it would easily fit in the comedy landscape. After years of begging, fans of “The State” are finally being given a complete series set and it was worth the wait.
Perhaps one of the reasons that “The State” feels so ahead of its time is the frequency with which its cast members pop up in film and television now. The cast of “The State” would go on to work together on shows like “Stella,” “Viva Variety,” and “Reno 911!” and films like “Wet Hot American Summer” and “The Ten,” but they would also find massive success apart from the whole troupe.

It's a good day for funny people, especially if your name is Tina Fey or Seth MacFarlane.
Fey's series, 30 Rock, was handed 22 Emmy nominations this morning, which stands as a record for a comedy series. She and Alec Baldwin were also nominated for acting awards. Plus, for the first time some of the other actors on NBC's laffer were recognized. Jane Krakowski, Jack McBrayer and Tracy Morgan all picked up supporting nominations.
MacFarlane's Family Guy was also nominated for best comedy series, the first time an animated show has cracked that category since The Flintstones in 1961. Two years ago MacFarlane decided to pull his show from contention in the animated series category to have it considered for best comedy.
Mad Men, the drama about the advertising world in the sixties, picked up 16 nominations in the drama categories, including a best actor nod for Jon Hamm. Hamm is also nominated as...

British comedians Matt Lucas and David Walliams have accepted libel damages from a U.K. newspaper over a report alleging their TV show Little Britain USA had offended gay groups.
The comic duo was accused of upsetting "pink protest groups" in a story which appeared in tabloid publication the Daily Star Sunday in September.
But during a hearing at the High Court in London on Friday, judge Mr Justice Eady heard that the two organisations named in the article do not appear to exist.
Bosses at Express Newspapers, owners of the Daily Star Sunday, have agreed to pay the funnymen undisclosed damages, as well as legal costs, over the false allegations and agreed to print an apology.
The court was told the report had caused considerable distress to the funnymen, who have close ties to the gay community.
The pair's advocate, Rod Christie-Miller, says, "The article clearly suggested that Little Britain USA went beyond the scope of acceptable public viewing and that as a result gay and lesbian groups were calling for some sketches in the series to be banned and for the viewing public to boycott the series.
"The allegations have been particularly hurtful because Mr. Walliams and Mr. Lucas consider that they misrepresent their relationship with an important fan base - the gay community."
Little Britain USA, made for cable channel HBO, was filmed in the U.S. and broadcast earlier this year.

Say good-bye to Ten(nant) After rumors swirled about an upcoming departure, including a season finale that had his character almost regenerating, the BBC have officially confirmed that David Tennant is leaving his role as the tenth version of The Doctor in 2009. He’s still got a few more hours of Doctoring left, with four special episodes airing in 2009 that will have him in the role. But, come 2010 when the new season finally premieres, there will be someone different in the role that made Tennant a huge star in Britain. Tennant played the Doctor for three seasons, and said that he loved the part so much that he wanted to leave it while it still felt exciting and fun. I’m not too bummed out at the loss myself; I thought he gave the Doctor a weird over-intensity and took the part too seriously at times, although I don’t...

"The highly awaited gym buddies Tom and Mark weren't shown. What was odd was that the subtitling still included the scene, so it was clear something was missing." Becoming a hit in its native country, and transcending itself to U.S. audience, sketch comedy series "Little Britain" is heading to the big screen. The feature film, which is backed up by producer Simon Fuller, will present the characters played by David Walliams and Matt Lucas.
A single story line will include many of the actors' notable characters such as teenager with horrible attitude Vicky Pollard, computer-obsessed Carol Beer and cross dresser in denial Emily Howard. "This was on the back burner while David and Matt concentrated on their American TV show, Little Britain USA. But they are both keen to get the project up and running," a source told Daily Mirror.
No clue yet which studio will pick up the 90-minute film, but it is hinted as being a very big one. "It is being backed by one of Hollywood's biggest studios, so no expense will be spared.
